Very near the train station with lots of restos and food joints, convenience stores and groceries. It's a quiet environment very near the sumo arena and near parks and the Sumida river so you can enjoy a nice peaceful walks daily. Our room was spacious for Japanese hotel standards. It's an old hotel so expect old fixtures but facilities are clean. Some reviews say that it's noisy because it's near the train station but it's not bothersome at all. Staff are very friendly and communicate well. Special thanks to Mr Saito for helping us check in easily. Towels and slippers are replaced daily and soaps and toiletries are refilled regularly. Very good hotel! Very recommended.
The bathroom didn't have a ventilation system and the room would heat up when someone took a bath. Otherwise everything is OK.

Staff were very kind and accommodating when a room switch was necessary. There was a problem with the first room we were put in which I will detail in the next question and the staff quickly too action to switch us to a new room. They were extremely communicative, helpful, and fast!
The first room we were put in had a strange clicking noise that was very loud which seemed to be coming from inside the walls. It was distracting an kept me awake as I tried to nap after my arrival. Additionally, certain aspects of the room were not very clean such as the intake and outtake vents and the air conditioner. These spots were very dusty and seemed to be covered with some sort of mold or black grime. The second room we were moved to was much cleaner but the first room was not cleaned well in certain areas that were highly visible.

Great location - a 2 min walk to the train station which is why I picked this hotel. The train noise wasn't bothersome at all. Lots of food places around (highly recommend the seafood place!), McDonalds is just across the street and there is a 24 hr cafe on the ground floor. The area under the railway is lined with eating places. There are also pubs. There is a chemist and Kombinis at your fingertips. You are also away from the hustle and bustle of busy areas but not too quiet or boring. Best thing is it also a 4 min walk to the Ryogoku River Centre where you can catch a waterbus to Odaiba (and skip the trains for once!). Toiletries, towels, etc were adequate and changed daily, but I wish they didn't have to constantly change the sliders (slippers). I keep having to tear open its plastic bag every day but it is probably just me! Bed and pillows were super comfy. Hotel is old and has seen better days but still a quality accommodation.
Bins! Need more or bigger bins. The lack of bins in Japan means we have to bring home our trash so big bins would have been handy! No laundry washroom or service - this is my massive disappointment!!!! I don't know how any hotel could fail to offer this. They tell you of a coin laundry you can go to but by God it is like 10 mins walk (and lugging laundry is no fun) and it is such a waste of time - as a tourist I ant got the extra time for going back and forth to the laundry especially after a day of walking everywhere in Tokyo. Breakfast is okay but could be better. After 3 days, the same old variety just gets boring.

It was my first time staying at Ryogoku View Hotel, and I requested a bunk bed room for two people for a 7-night stay. The room was small but clean and well-ventilated since it had a balcony. The small size of the room wasn't an issue for us, but for persons over 6ft, it may feel quite cramped. The beds had stiff mattresses, which is great for your back, and a single pillow. I'm not sure if you can request more pillows. The bathroom was also small, with the toilet seat right in front of the door. It's a bit tight but again, not too much of an issue. Toiletries were available and the liquid bath soap, shampoo and conditioner was good enough that we didn't feel the need to purchase something different. The shower and bath was lovely since the water was heated at a consistent temperature. Overall, pretty good room and bath! The location of the hotel was the deciding factor when I booked it because it is right in front of Ryogoku station (JR line). All you need to do is cross a little street and walk less than a minute to get to the entrance to the front desk. It's also surrounded by convenience stores (A 7-11 and a NewDays at the station exit, and a Family Mart a little down the road) and has a great selection of restaurants nearby. The staff are wonderful at the hotel, and are so accommodating! We were allowed to store our luggage prior to check-in at 3PM, and even after the 11AM check-out. You just have to let them know what time you'll be around to pick up the luggage. Quick note-- Ryogoku station is on the JR Sobu line, which is a local line which means that it stops at every station on the line. To my knowledge, there are no other lines that stops at this station. To get there from Narita, we took the Keisei Narita Skyaccess line from Narita Airport Terminal 2/3 station to Asakusabashi station , and transferred to the JR Sobu line to Ryogoku Station. This all took about an hour.
One time when we requested housekeeping, the balcony door was left open which was extremely worrying but as far as we could tell, no belongings of ours were taken.

Love the location! It’s just less than a 5 min walk to the train station; nearby restaurants and cafes for breakfast, lunch, dinner or whenever you’re hungry. Although the hotel looks a little old but our room was clean and tidy; small like most hotel rooms in Japan, we managed to make it a comfy stay. Daily housekeeping made our stay even comfier. Check in and check out was seamless and the staff speak English.
Not sure if we missed it or there wasn’t this service - laundry service.

We came back to tokyo from kyoto for one night ahead of our flight home and shared one room (me, my husband and my sister). We had three separate beds and a pretty spacious room, considering we had 6 suitcases/ bags between us. The hotel itself was lovely, the staff were incredible and we had a very comfortable night.
The only downside for us was there were no veggie friendly restaurants nearby which obviously wasn't the hotels fault! But just to flag for any future vegetarian bookers - you'll have to travel relatively far away to get a decent veggie restaurant.

The hotel has a fantastic location for exploratory trips in Tokyo — very close to the Ryogoku station. This also means shops and cafés nearby. The are is somewhat busy, but it didn't disturb us much. There is little space in the room, but the facilities are decent. We were very happy to have a single room for all us three. The room had a tea set (kettle, cups, tea bags), fridge and desk, tiny bath tub and toiletries. The personal was very friendly. The hotel is a bit old-fashioned, but offers great value for money from our perspective.
There is pretty little space, but this is pretty typical for hotels in Japan unless you're ready to spend a lot of money.

The best stay of my trip. Literally next to Ryogoku JR station, very easy to get around. The room was clean and had everything you need. The staff was professional. The price for 2 people in a private room was basically the same with booking 2 dorm beds in other hostels - so this is a much better deal. Glad that I chose this hotel to experience Japanese great hospitality service.

Staffs are nice and very helpful during check-in and check-out. Very near to the train station and nearby full with convenient stores, restaurants, clinic and farmacy. About 5-7 minutes walk to the 24 hours laundry shop.
The room is too small for 3 persons and no place for luggage. Need to do self check-in during arrival at the machine.

I stayed in the hotel back in 2016 with my friends and I picked it again for my travel with my parents because of the location. it’s 1 minute from the JR ryogoku station so it’s very very convenient(note:cause if it’s proximity, you can hear the trains till about 11pm if that’s gonna be a problem for anyone, we were alright with it). Staffs were extremely polite and friendly throughout our 4 nights stay, always greeted us with a pleasant smile. Rooms and bathroom are both very light airy and spacious, for Japanese hotel standards. hotel provided daily cleaning service, with daily change of towels, toothbrush, slippers, etc. Oh and there’s also lots of food options right outside the hotel. McD, traditional Japanese izakaya, 7/11, daiso, cosmetic and skin care shops, everything. My parents were very happy with the stay here. AC was working and beds were very comfy. Definitely will stay here again on my next visit to Japan.
nothing. everything was great.
