The hotel is located in a nice, quiet area(By that, I mean away from the hustle and bustle of other parts of town, because of course you could hear the trains passing by) and directly opposite the train station. Although it's not on one of the main lines, we didn't mind having to change trains. I also found it pleasant that you could let in some air through the balcony door, even if the balcony itself was of no further use. The Japanese breakfast was very good. You could put it together from many components and there was something new every day.If you don't like Japanese scrambled eggs, you have the option of choosing the firm omelet. There were different kind of soups, vegetables, salads, fish. The staff at breakfast service were very friendly and accommodating. Overall, we found the hotel to be a good choice for our first stay in Tokyo.
It didn't bother us as we didn't watch TV at all: The TV was mounted in such a way that there was actually no comfortable position to watch it. The air conditioning was so loud and drafty that we had to turn it off at night. But since it wasn't very hot outside anymore, we didn't find this to be a problem. In summer it might be different.

Location, the best. You basically just stepping out the station and its right there. Its also in a good neighbourhood that allows you to have a taste of a more local feel. If you have time, check out the local restaurants nearby. There is a lovely soba noodle place and a sushi restaurant within 5 mins walk. Also, room is with excellent quality of facilities and great services. Its worth value for money, especially for Tokyo standard. I’m surprised with what I got, to be honest. Would happy to book again for my next visit in Tokyo.
Maybe their pictures here and on Google? The hotel is super and absolutely great, the pictures didn’t do enough justice! You should get new photos ;)

The best thing about this hotel is the staff. They assisted me with a number of things, including shipping a box and route planning to the airport. The hotel is clean overall, and daily room cleaning is offered. I also liked the location of the hotel, near the river and away from the chaos of central Tokyo. The hotel itself is looking a little dated and the size of my room was really quite small, with an odd bunk bed/sofa design. Overall, it was a very pleasant stay and possibly a hotel that I would use again.
I have stayed in Tokyo hotels which are better value for money in terms of room size.

Our room stay is the Modern Japanese-Style Room A for a family of 5. It is comfortable, there is a jacuzzi tub in the bathroom. The RYŌGOKU station (Chūō-Sōbu Line) is situated next to the hotel, and Akihabara is just 2 stops away. Restaurants, McDonald's, 7-Eleven, Lawson are nearby the hotel, it is very convenient. There is a laundry shop (6-8 min walk), you can ask the reception for the direction.

Proximity to Ryogoku (JR) station was a plus for us (the noise from the trains didn't worry us), and there were lots of restaurants all around. The room was small with little wriggle room, but comfortable, and most importantly, had very comfy beds! Toiletries were available in the bathroom (toothbrush and paste, disposable razors, hair bands), and shampoo, conditioner, and shower gel were provided. The staff were helpful, and check-in/out was easy.
A minor point, but the room was small for 3 beds (we had a triple), and there was no storage/wardrobe space. With 3 suitcases and 3 backpacks, it made the space even tighter. There was an odd smell in the room when we arrived, but put this down to the room not being recently aired.

Staff were very kind and accommodating when a room switch was necessary. There was a problem with the first room we were put in which I will detail in the next question and the staff quickly too action to switch us to a new room. They were extremely communicative, helpful, and fast!
The first room we were put in had a strange clicking noise that was very loud which seemed to be coming from inside the walls. It was distracting an kept me awake as I tried to nap after my arrival. Additionally, certain aspects of the room were not very clean such as the intake and outtake vents and the air conditioner. These spots were very dusty and seemed to be covered with some sort of mold or black grime. The second room we were moved to was much cleaner but the first room was not cleaned well in certain areas that were highly visible.

Very near the train station with lots of restos and food joints, convenience stores and groceries. It's a quiet environment very near the sumo arena and near parks and the Sumida river so you can enjoy a nice peaceful walks daily. Our room was spacious for Japanese hotel standards. It's an old hotel so expect old fixtures but facilities are clean. Some reviews say that it's noisy because it's near the train station but it's not bothersome at all. Staff are very friendly and communicate well. Special thanks to Mr Saito for helping us check in easily. Towels and slippers are replaced daily and soaps and toiletries are refilled regularly. Very good hotel! Very recommended.
The bathroom didn't have a ventilation system and the room would heat up when someone took a bath. Otherwise everything is OK.

Great location - a 2 min walk to the train station which is why I picked this hotel. The train noise wasn't bothersome at all. Lots of food places around (highly recommend the seafood place!), McDonalds is just across the street and there is a 24 hr cafe on the ground floor. The area under the railway is lined with eating places. There are also pubs. There is a chemist and Kombinis at your fingertips. You are also away from the hustle and bustle of busy areas but not too quiet or boring. Best thing is it also a 4 min walk to the Ryogoku River Centre where you can catch a waterbus to Odaiba (and skip the trains for once!). Toiletries, towels, etc were adequate and changed daily, but I wish they didn't have to constantly change the sliders (slippers). I keep having to tear open its plastic bag every day but it is probably just me! Bed and pillows were super comfy. Hotel is old and has seen better days but still a quality accommodation.
Bins! Need more or bigger bins. The lack of bins in Japan means we have to bring home our trash so big bins would have been handy! No laundry washroom or service - this is my massive disappointment!!!! I don't know how any hotel could fail to offer this. They tell you of a coin laundry you can go to but by God it is like 10 mins walk (and lugging laundry is no fun) and it is such a waste of time - as a tourist I ant got the extra time for going back and forth to the laundry especially after a day of walking everywhere in Tokyo. Breakfast is okay but could be better. After 3 days, the same old variety just gets boring.

It was my first time staying at Ryogoku View Hotel, and I requested a bunk bed room for two people for a 7-night stay. The room was small but clean and well-ventilated since it had a balcony. The small size of the room wasn't an issue for us, but for persons over 6ft, it may feel quite cramped. The beds had stiff mattresses, which is great for your back, and a single pillow. I'm not sure if you can request more pillows. The bathroom was also small, with the toilet seat right in front of the door. It's a bit tight but again, not too much of an issue. Toiletries were available and the liquid bath soap, shampoo and conditioner was good enough that we didn't feel the need to purchase something different. The shower and bath was lovely since the water was heated at a consistent temperature. Overall, pretty good room and bath! The location of the hotel was the deciding factor when I booked it because it is right in front of Ryogoku station (JR line). All you need to do is cross a little street and walk less than a minute to get to the entrance to the front desk. It's also surrounded by convenience stores (A 7-11 and a NewDays at the station exit, and a Family Mart a little down the road) and has a great selection of restaurants nearby. The staff are wonderful at the hotel, and are so accommodating! We were allowed to store our luggage prior to check-in at 3PM, and even after the 11AM check-out. You just have to let them know what time you'll be around to pick up the luggage. Quick note-- Ryogoku station is on the JR Sobu line, which is a local line which means that it stops at every station on the line. To my knowledge, there are no other lines that stops at this station. To get there from Narita, we took the Keisei Narita Skyaccess line from Narita Airport Terminal 2/3 station to Asakusabashi station , and transferred to the JR Sobu line to Ryogoku Station. This all took about an hour.
One time when we requested housekeeping, the balcony door was left open which was extremely worrying but as far as we could tell, no belongings of ours were taken.

Love the location! It’s just less than a 5 min walk to the train station; nearby restaurants and cafes for breakfast, lunch, dinner or whenever you’re hungry. Although the hotel looks a little old but our room was clean and tidy; small like most hotel rooms in Japan, we managed to make it a comfy stay. Daily housekeeping made our stay even comfier. Check in and check out was seamless and the staff speak English.
Not sure if we missed it or there wasn’t this service - laundry service.
