Nice atmosphere, close to interesting Highlights

Noisy bar with live music close by, 11pm-1.30am Wed-Sun music from outside and normal windows = no sound isolation in the room

The location is superb with popular eateries nearby. It's a quaint little hotel. The bed is firm and it's very clean and well kept. There's a really nice little souvenir shop next door too.

It can get noisy occasionally esp for rooms facing the road but overall not too bad as it's not too busy a road. Breakfast is a waste of time. They should do away with breakfast and charge less for room since there are so many eateries within walking distance.

It was located near a lot of the places that we wanted to visit. Very convenient place to base ourselves to explore Penang. We loved the air-well that was the centre of the building with its tiled mosiac pieces.

The only thing we had trouble with were the stairs as our knees are not well. Especially when we had to carry our luggage up and down when checking in and out. Other than this, we had a lovely time there.

Basically everything: location is perfect, close to the busy streets with pubs and bars on one side, local food on the other; bus station to national park 2 minutes away if you don't feel like taking a cab. The receptionist guy was super friendly, super smiling, gave us good tips to find places; great experience The bed was really comfortable (not the soft type), no view from the garden but we knew what to expect; clean, good water pressure... Yep. Basically everything

We could hear some furniture moving from neighbor above (not loud but could disturb someone with light sleep); but I guess it's inevitable in this kind of shop house. Honestly we slept really well in any case.

Nam Keng Hotel was exceptional in the following areas for my recent solo stay: 1) room was big and comfortable and well equipped with the necessary amenities 2) the front desk staff, Ms Priya and Mr Tharan were always on hand to make sure my stay was comfortable. I managed to follow some of Mr Tharan’s excellent recommendations on where to eat in Georgetown. 3) Location was within walking distance to all the good food in Georgetown.

Small quiet hotel. Centrally located and walking distance from a lot of happening places. Super friendly staff. The family room was large enough for three persons. Nice bathroom with latest fittings.

Breakfast is very basic and the same things repeated every day. However, this was known and wasn't a surprise for us. I suppose for a small hotel it is difficult to have a lot of variety. Quantity available was plenty and it serves the purpose.

The staff were friendly and welcoming from when I arrived to when I departed. The hotel is exactly what I expected a quaint converted Malaysian Chinese house into a hotel. The room was the perfect size for a solo traveller and would be for 2 people as well. There is only a handful of rooms so it's not to busy. They let me check in early without any hesitation.

Perfect location, walking distance to the main square, the street art, upside down museum, street food stalls, cafes and bars etc all about 10 minute walking radius. The rooms were clean, the staff were friendly and the decor was great too.

The only thing (nothing to do with the hotel) but when putting the hotel into Google maps it would navigate me to the wrong hotel, about 100 metres up the road. All you have to do though is keep on walking past it, following the one way street down until you find Nam Keng on your right.

beautiful historic building, great restoration and the ambience was immersive. staff were friendly and helpful. location was fantastic, close to many food options and places to visit.

the breakfast selection was really limited

Staff are nice and helpful. The room has everything a normal visitor would need while remain the vintage vibe. The washroom is unexpectedly good - very clean and much bigger than I thought. The hot water supply was very stable and the shower head was strong.

The ceiling fan was not working in the breakfast/dining area. Unluckily for travellers who like to “da bao” / takeaway like me.
