We became friends with one of the managers, she is really talkative, we shared some book recommendation about life, psychology and philosophy. If you are traveling alone here you will make some friends also or be friend with the manager for sure. Very nice location and place with a small garden and a charming atmosphere like in the past. Its a family business’s.The food is also great, they have a restaurant downstairs with beer, snacks, lunch and free breakfast between 8.30 - 10.30. They also provide adapter for you! As well there is a postcard box and they sell the stamps. Cheers from KL

Loved our stay at Ren I Tang. It’s a beautiful old building with so much character and right in the old streets of Georgetown. Our room was lovely, comfortable and had everything we needed. The cafe downstairs was great - perfect spot to take time out from the sun and busyness of travelling - our kids particularly loved the toys! And when the kids are happy, we are happy parents! Breakfast was simple but delicious with different things to try each morning. Our daughter become very fond of Yok, who runs the guesthouse. So thank you Yok for your time, patience and conversation. Nelly says hi! Would highly recommend Ren I Tang and would very happily stay again! Thank you for our stay and being so welcoming!

It lives up to the high rating for sure. I was travelling with my parents so we took the family suit, the stuff took time to give me heads up what could be the pros and cons for older people to stay here. Breakfast is amazing, stuff really helpful. The food in the bistro is super yummy too. Location is good, walking distance to the art street.

The only thing but the charm is that it’s an old heritage building, the first night check in the air felt quite stuffy and heavy, but then we found a routine to turn on the ac and open the window a bit without letting mosquito in nor wasting energy when we were out, it gets much better.

Gorgeous historic accommodation, beautifully restored with large rooms with pared back charm. Great range on offer for breakfast in quirky cafe style setting rather than big hotel buffet (as is part of the charm of the accommodation). Location is perfect in old town, 5-10min walk from ferry. Super friendly, helpful staff, would definitely re-book here.

Bed is very firm which suited us but may not be for all. Breakfast didn’t start till 8:30 which would be tricky if on a day tour and wanting to eat prior. It’s a busy part of town so expect early morning noise, we loved feeling part of the buzz!

Staff were very welcoming and attentive. Great hospitality and I was always greeted with a smile. My room was always clean. It felt like home. I was on the 2nd floor but they had a pulley to deliver my luggage so that was really cool. I really enjoyed the heritage building with original windows. Perhaps it was due to the old building material, the room was windy and cooling even during the hottest time of the Penang island weather. I enjoyed spending the entire afternoon reading in my room with the windows wide open to the vibrant Little India streets. The view, the music and the sound from the streets felt like a movie. The shops close pretty on time in the evenings, and I wear earplugs anyway, so I had a good sleep every night.

Excellent location in the middle of the old city, easy walking distance to lots of the street art that Georgetown is famous for and the jettys, street food areas and lots of restaurants in little India and chinatown. The breakfast is very good, lots of choice and freshly prepared. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The rooms are clearly individual, so this applies to a loft room which we chose, I had some concerns about noise with a city centre location but our room was very quiet and we were not disturbed by noise from inside or outside. The property itself is fascinating, you can easily spend an hour or two looking at the architecture and many historic exhibits. I will certainly return for future visits.

Beautiful room on the 2nd floor overlooking Penang Street. There is a lift but we found it quicker and not too difficult to walk up the 2 flights of stairs and we are in our 70s. Take it slowly and carefully. But for times when you have luggage or feel tired, the lift is there. Buffet style breakfast with western and local choices, and also an option of scrambled egg or omelette. Location in the centre of Little India, surrounded by restaurants, bustle, smells, colour etc, but when you need a respite this is an oasis of calm, and the bistro is open throughout the day for cold drinks and other things. Staff were excellent- friendly and helpful.

The hotel was carefully restored and updated from an old Chinese-medicine wholesale house. I had a very interesting big square-room on 3th floor with 2 big windows & shutters facing out to the street & the city, 4 windows & shutters facing an inside massive air-well where you could use pulleys to transport goods up and down in older days without lift. A mid/small size hotel each of its room is different in size & styles. The hotel is extremely clean, sheets were crisp white, toilet tissue were so soft, in room facilities was great. Close to the information centre, the ClockTower, street arts...

Location was great, central and convenient for doing walking tours of the old town. The building is very unique, with so many interesting features. Breakfast was great, with an amazing selection of everything you could want, including local specialties. The morning we had an early pick-up they arranged a breakfast to be waiting for us. Rooms (we extended our stay so had to change rooms) were large and filed with funky furniture, bathrooms had nice shampoo/shower gel. Filtered water was available. Owners and staff were just lovely.

The staff were amazing! They were so friendly and welcoming, nothing was too much bother. In particular, Zawmyaint and Paulina were wonderful. The building had so much original character - quite an experience! The location in Little India was a great base for exploring Georgetown. The room was very clean. We were in the air well room which was very quirky. The cafe downstairs was lovely. A great spot to have an afternoon drink and nibbles.

The bed was too hard for my liking. The room was very basic but I guess this added to the experience. We didn’t get the room that we booked but I understand this was an issue with booking.com rather than the hotel.
