This was my second recent visit to Mellieha but my first stay at the Solana. I was impressed by the contact from the hotel before my stay, including an offer of a discounted room upgrade, which I accepted. There was an initial issue with my room but this was dealt with very efficiently and my first night was in a lovely Suite!! My room was ready early the next day and was superb with the promised panoramic view of the town. The staff in the hotel are excellent and nothing is too much trouble. I had a half board package and eat at the excellent Bellini restaurant which offers an excellent hot and cold buffet at breakfast and dinner. Mellieha is a great location with good access to all parts of the island via the terrific Malta Buses. Buy the 7 day pass at the airport for 21 Euros and catch the X1 from outside the Arrivals Hall to the stop outside the Hotel and then enjoy unlimited low cost travel to all of the many places Malta has to offer.

It would be nice to be able to have an allowance to eat in the hotel's 2 other restaurants on a couple of nights during a 7 day or more stay

Our 7-night stay at the hotel was delightful. Throughout our visit, the staff provided exceptional service. The receptionists were attentive, friendly, and helpful. During our stay, we indulged in the breakfast and dinner provided. The meal options were diverse and included hot dishes. The restaurant was spacious, with ample seating available. We had a wonderful time enjoying lunch at the rooftop pool and bar. The ambience was delightful, and the food was excellent. We enjoyed our time at the hotel's Nataraya spa, where Tessa and Melrose provided exceptional service. The hot tub and complimentary drink were a nice touch. The hotel's location was convenient, with shops, bars, restaurants and a beach within a 20-minute walk. Public transportation was also easily accessible, making renting a car to explore the island unnecessary. If we had the opportunity, we would stay at this hotel.

The room was large and comfortable, with fruit to eat, a fridge and a coffee machine, including a large deck to sit out on, we were on the sixth floor, so had great views of the surrounding area and were only one floor away from the roof top swimming pool. The hotel staff were accommodating, and it was very helpful that we could leave our bags and use the facilities, as we had a flight later in the day. The buffet breakfast in the morning offered a wide variety of choice, especially enjoyed the fresh fruit. We were travelling round by Malta buses, so it was even better to find that the bus from Valetta stopped outside the hotel, which also took us the to port to get a ferry to Gozo (about 15 mins by bus) and to the beach (around 5 minutes by bus), which is sandy with lots of chairs/umbrellas available to hire. We also found some lovely places to eat at the church square and the old bakery further up the road in town, be prepared for quite large portions!

It would have been great to have been supplied with towels to use for the swimming pool, we had brought some beach towels, but it would have been an extra nice touch to have towels to use. Happy hour was between 4-5pm, which felt too early, I think it would have made more sense to have from 6-7pm. it is not a hotel to choose if you want small and intimate, as it does cater for a large number of guests, but it never felt overcrowded, and you could always find somewhere to sit at the pool.

Our room was big, clean with great view on the see and the surrounding city. However not all rooms are situated as well as ours was. Some room were situated directly to the road or to constuction site. Be careful during choosing your room. Rather ask in advance for further details. Comunication with hotel was great and they will gladly answer all your questions. Our room was a bit pricier but definitely worth it, we chose deluxe apartman. Definitely recommend level 3 and higher rooms. I recommend you to use the offer of aditional services that you would get in advance, for example - unlimited drinks during dinners! Breakfasts and dinner were very tasty and extremely variable.

Nice hotel with decent standards, clean and modern, little kitchen within the room, kettle for tea or coffee. Modern bathroom. Super comfy king size bed. Big TV screen

The noise, rooms located upfront need triple glass as it's the main road and it's steep. Bring your ear plugs or avoid rooms facing main street

The staff are very nice and helpful. The hotel is very nice and clean just like the pictures. There is a great variety of food to choose from, vegan and gluten free options. The view from the rooftop is amazing. The rooms are cleaned daily and towels are changed. The bus stops are very close, one just outside the hotel.

Breakfast was less varied. We paid for half board, no drinks included at dinner (not even water). In the bathroom, the water stops on the floor and does not drain. Luckily we didn't have to use the AC at night, but if we had to I'm sure I wouldn't have been able to sleep because it was very loud even on the lowest speed.

We stayed at the Solana Hotel between 15-20 October 2023. It was a great experience, starting from the first day. For my birthday I found a bottle of wine in the room. For objective reasons I requested a room change. It was elegantly resolved and I received another bottle of wine as a gift, with apologies. The hotel is clean, has various facilities, the staff is qualified and very eager to solve any problems. Very rich breakfast for all tastes. The place for breakfast is very clean and it's good that there is a terrace overlooking the sea. The lobby is great, tourists can spend time waiting for check-in or after check-out. The rooms are comfortable, everything works well. The beds are very good. AC and balconies are welcome. The lighting is very good. The elevators are comfortable. Cleanliness is impeccable everywhere - rooms, hallways, elevators, reception, restaurant. There's nothing at the Solana that you need and don't fix. Everything was wonderful, thank you! We had a great time and if we come back to Mellieha, we will come to Solana :-) It was my pleasure to rate the Hotel & Team also to Tripadvisor and Google! Many thanks to our great Team in Front Desk/Lobby - Katia, Anna, Niraj and Bianka! You rock, guys! We wish you all the best and keep up the great work!

Not applicable. Every thing is very well managed, the team is great, all facilities are at tourists' convenience. A great business, well done!

Very kind staff, very clean, well situated, good little gym room, amazing pool and rooftop restaurant bar really good to chill in the morning or in the afternoon. Only one bad thing was the breakfast.

9/10 the only thing missing is truely the breakfast. I’m sorry I’m use to 4* but the breakfast was soooo little with the same thing during all the week. Missing classic things such as pancakes… 2 options for cheese, 2 options for ham, the sausage didn’t had any taste… I would say that breakfast were very poor and it’s a shame as it’s how you are starting your day. However, I’m sure they will work on that to achieve a perfect experience.

Location of the hotel. The room was clean. The roof pool was a good solution.

The hotel contains two buildings connected with a corridor on the -2 floor. Between the two buildings there is another one in the process so it's a regular building site- the noise starts at 7am!!! If someone wants a relaxing stay they would be very 😞. Food was great only on the first day of our stay on Friday. A lot of food recycling is going on and you can spot the same vegetables already dried and rotten for the next two days...You would expect better quality and variety for a 4* hotel to be honest. The price is quite high for the quality offered. Also very limited carpark spaces available.
