The location is beautiful. The South side of the island is less busy and so less touristy. Unlike some properties, this one is peaceful and relaxing. The music is kept low and guests were quiet. The staff is very friendly. We enjoyed our time on the private beach and by the lovely pool. The roof top deck is gorgeous at sunset! And my son loved the gym. Can’t wait to return.

I had a great stay with my adult daughter. We loved the pool area and the ability to go from the pool to the ocean. Beach was great for that part of the island, and if you swim out to the swim area rope there are many different tropical fish to watch. We only ate at the property once, and the food was great. Fantastic shower, and large room with area for coffee.

Upgraded TV's so we could watch movies on Netflix at night. Beds were a little hard, but otherwise the room was large and comfortable.

Everything was great! Only thing is the pricing for taxi & transit options because the hotel is isolated. Need to have option to rent golf cars from the hotel

We arrived to celebrate a honeymoon. At first they brought us a room located on the second floor, although it seems that this is not the room that appeared in the reservation. At reception I was told that the rooms can be both on the lower floor with access to the pool and also on the upper floors with a balcony. The rep at the reception was really nice and managed to arrange a room for us with an exit to the pool even though he did not have to. The rooms are large and spacious, the hotel has a private beach and a lovely pool.

Please note that smoking is not allowed in the entire hotel area except on the beach and outside the hotel. This information was not specified on the website and I did not know it before I booked the hotel so it is important to know in advance. Also regarding the rooms, it is important to know that if you book a double room with a view of the garden the pictures show an exit to the pool. Not all rooms are like this and you may get rooms on the upper floors. We wanted to rent a golf cart from the hotel during our stay and for 4 days they did not have any car to rent for us. Don't know why but it sucks

The staff were exceptional, super friendly, welcoming and hugely helpful wherever they could be. The hotel was lovely, I loved the big room - a nice big comfortable bed, gorgeous lighting with dimmer switches, nice bathroom with 2 sinks, great shower. I even loved the 'bench' in the shower room - very handy it turns out. The air con worked very well - a little too well that I almost didn't need it - the ceiling fan was very good. The hotel's beach was lovely - and the main swimming pool - gorgeous. The cleaners did a superb job each time they came - such a good job that I certainly didn't need them every day. This was my first time in Isla Mujeres (or indeed, Mexico), I visited Playa Norte and the north but found it very hectic and touristy - I am so grateful Izla Hotel wasn't in this area and was far more chilled out and laid back. I enjoyed the gym facilities also.

I would say the bar ingredients could be improved - cocktails were all made using a syrup whereas fresh fruit would have been wonderful. For example, a strawberry daquiri or strawberry margarita were made using a strawberry flavoured sugar syrup rather than fresh strawberries. Fresh fruit would have really given the bar the edge

The Izla Hotel is a luxury hotel in a quieter area of the island. It was a 10-minute, $10 taxi ride from the Ultramar ferry terminal. The hotel has several dining options: a casual restaurant, an upscale restaurant, a beach/pool menu, and room service. Food and drinks were typical prices for tourist areas. Yoga classes were offered (8 am) on the beach three times during the week. The friendly staff immaculately cleaned the pool, beach, and entire property daily. Tap water is not potable, so you must buy water from the hotel or local convenience stores. Ice is available via room service or the beach bar. Free coffee to all guests, including those without the breakfast option, during the morning in the café. You can rent golf carts through the hotel or from local shops, and gas-powered mopeds (require a motorcycle license) are also an option. It's about a 20-minute walk into town, which felt safe for evening strolls and meals. Our air-conditioned room had a balcony perfect for watching the sunset, and the king-size bed was very comfortable with daily cleaning service. Overall, the Izla Hotel is an excellent option for those seeking a non-inclusive option located away from the chaos of the Playa Norte.

The only issue was an unpleasant smell of mold or septic that was detectable in the bathroom if we turned off the bathroom fan at night.

the pools (2!) were always clean, and chairs available. The staff were AMAZING - specifically Claudia in the cafe, and Don Julio and Alex at the pool bar. This is a very safe, clean hotel, with a beautiful private beach. As much as I hate to rate it so high because it just means more people will be there, visitors need to know and the hotel staff deserve the rating.

only "complaint" - we couldn't figure out how to adjust the AC in the room (although we also didn't ask - it really ended up being just fine). There is a ceiling fan in the room that worked well.

Beautiful property! Stunning pools, and the beach is sensational. Izla hotel would probably be best for a couples holiday as highly romantic - I would love to go back with my husband. Location is great, we hired golf carts and explored the island and it was so reachable. Taxis to the ferry were around $10 UDD which we found very reasonable! There is a golf cart hire shop just down the road so we picked ours up from there! The staff are highly attentive, very friendly. Overall we loved our stay, it was sensational!

I didn’t dislike anything!

This resort was perfect. Perfect size, perfect service, perfect location. We loved being "down south" away from all the chaos of downtown and north beach areas. The pool was perfect and beautiful. The beach was just the right size. Everything was clean, we had breakfast, lunches and dinner at the cafe and they were all delicious. It was a wonderful week and we would go back in a heartbeat.

We paid for an upgraded room upon arrival and it most likely was not "prepared" for visitors. The room smelled like mildew, the beautiful large balcony hadn't been mopped nor the tub cleaned and the beautiful glass railing hadn't been cleaned. It was also never cleaned during our stay. Only the room. We spent a lot of time out there so it would have been nice to have that cleaned. I did ask but the request must have never made it to housekeeping. They did address the mildew smell and when we returned it was gone and smelled strongly of tea tree oil. Not bad, just that smell.

Staff is kind, attentive and well trained. Extremely clean and well maintained property. The balcony and comfy beds made for a nice stay. Pool areas and the gym are great. Food was very good with nice variety. Breakfast buffet had wonderful selection. Also had pool menu and the shrimp caesar salad was so excellent, had several times. Beach dinner options with entertainment and other activities such as salsa lessons were fun! Sky Lounge was a lovely adult lounge area to hangout and watch the sunset. Angel at the Sky Lounge and Anna at the front desk were both standouts!! Ask for Rosa in the spa. The BEST! Quiet location but had restaurants and famous ice bar nearby. Also, good area for a long walk.

Heated pools would be better as quite chilly but understand energy expense for small part of the year. The beach is very nice but a worthy investment would be a small tractor w rake for daily seaweed. They worked so hard every morning but hard to enjoy any water due to immense amount of seaweed on the beach.
