We got a free upgrade on arrival and it was this that made the stay more appealing giving us access to the privilege areas like BELOVED RESTAURANT ETC. The food was great at BL and the Grill and for an all inclusive the wine wasn’t too bad either, we had Jose & Alejandra serving us most day and they were fantastic. The privilege beach area was great because it was shaded by palm trees not parasols and we loved this area, Roosevelt was the main man here serving us but he paid particular attention to your request and always delivered with a smile top man. Great pool bar and surroundings with food vans close by for snacks, fish tacos were the best and the crapes. There was a great coffee shop “ Aromas” tucked away in a lovely quiet area with a good selection of cakes, overall a great place but the upgrade made all the difference and we really appreciate it.

Some of the bar staff seem fed up and a bit grumpy and the drinks were not great unless you gave them precise instructions which made them more grumpy. The draft modelo was watery and didn’t taste good, no modelo negra, please use canned beer. Apart from that everything was great.

Beautiful hotel set in a forest setting with great facilities and friendly, helpful staff. The pool was excellent, food was good, juice bar is not to be missed. We didn't want to leave and we would come back again.

Not much. You have to reserve a table to get a seat at one of the restaurants and even if you think the place is half empty they will tell you it's fully booked. I am sure they have their reasons but it was odd.

We really enjoyed the all-inclusive formula and the quality of food. The personnel was exceptionally nice everywhere in the hotel, polite, smiling, kind. The rooms were very comfortable.

For information: the "deluxe premium" room is not really better than the "premium", the only difference is newer furniture and decoration, but same size, same features.

The hotel is located in the middle of a jungle. Nice beach, great cuisine friendly staff.

Sometimes the waves bring seaweeds to the shore. It is cleaned slowly.

Staff were excellent & helpful. Great atmosphere around the pool every day. The beach was beautiful. Good selection of restaurants however the portion sizes were a little small. The food trucks were my favorite meal choice of the hotel, amazing burgers!!

Even though the room was renovated, the balcony door was broken. There were problems with the electricity. Uncomfortable mattress and pillows. For the first three days we didn't have a shower mat. There weren't enough sun beds and umbrellas. The lights weren't working in the balcony.

the location is beautiful, the beachfront, buffet service was great, receptionist are super helpful, coffee shop is delicious

nice property with a beautiful garden and wild life, right on the large beach with natural shade from palm trees. white sand beach is long and great for morning walks; large pool with huge number of umbrellas and beach chairs; 7 restaurants, six of which are a la carte. Because the territory of the resort is very big you don’t see many people and don’t feel it is crowded.

some restaurants remain to be better, especially terrace tapas was quite disappointing. in all a la carte restaurants portions were very small and selections of dishes was limited.

We really enjoyed Catalonia Playa Maroma. Hobbie Cats(catamarans) are included without additional cost and we enjoyed that daily! They also have kayaks. The food we really enjoyed, but you need to make reservations, except for the main buffet. The desserts were better than most other all-inclusive resorts. Monkeys and other wildlife are seen throughout the nature preserve in the property. Natural ‘made to order’ smoothies made our stay super enjoyable and excellent cappuccinos, were a plus. The mango margaritas tasted like Bellinis. They also offer crepes, which are not normally offered at other resorts. The room was tastefully decorated, Bathroom very nice, bed was comfortable and AC worked well. Palapas, plenty of beach chairs; Hammocks; Service was great. Beach was great even though seaweed was there half the stay (all based on currents), but that’s the case all over this area regardless of the resort. Secrets Resort is nextdoor, it’s 3 times as expensive and it has just as much seaweed on days where the current was bad. Both resorts have machines to rake it off. Even considering this, the views from beach chairs to the ocean horizon with nice breeze is priceless. Overall I give this resort 5 stars. I hope we can come back to enjoy more in the future.
