Messages sent to the hotel were all replied promptly. The hotel is within a stone throw to Thamel and yet is quiet where you can be assured of a good and restful sleep. The room is spacious with modern bathroom. The staff are courteous and helpful. Special mention to Sandip for his ever eagerness to help and prompt response whenever we need assistance. The restaurant at the rooftop is a gem! We had meals a couple of times there. The food was cooked on the spot and simply delicious! Kudos to the chef! Congrats to the team on its 5th anniversary!

Himalayan Ghar is a quiet place away from the busy, loud, vibrant streets in Thamel, Kathmandu. The manager Krishna was outstanding and very helpful while we stayed for 9 nights, Krishna organised interesting tours and comfy transport and made sure we understood (my wife is Deaf) and were safe and looked after. We really felt in good hands. The other staff we met during our stay also deserve a compliment, such as Manish, Buddha, Sonit, Sandip, Ayush and Ajit. Their warm smiles and welcome make all the difference. I am sorry I forgot the names of the lovely female staff. Josje and Flip New Zealand

We had a great time staying at Himalayan Ghar. Staffs were exceptional as they were all very friendly and hospitable. Had a little issue at the very start of our stay but the manager Krishna dealt with it promptly to ensure all our requirements were met. Communication was top notch throughout our stay. It's in a nice quaint cul de sac away from the hustle and bustle yet stones throw away from the main Thamel centre which makes it ideal for solo, group or people travelling with their families. Housekeeping was attended as per your requirement by two lovely ladies who were always so friendly. Kitchen staffs were very attentive and anything we ordered were delightful. We also found it to be helpful to order our breakfast 10-15 mins beforehand to give the staffs enough time to prepare. Breakfast was served at the roofspace where you could enjoy cup of coffee along with fruits, yogurt, toasts, banana bread etc accompanied by the view of the picturesque mountains whilst you wait for your main breakfast. Also, the front desk staffs were every so friendly and were always there to meet and greet everytime you left the hotel or came back to the hotel. Overall, we had a lovely time staying here and will definately be back. Thank you to the whole team for the great service.

The only thing was the sofas in the apartment were very small and uncomfortable specially if you come here with young kids and are wanting to enjoy a drinks or two whilst sitting on the sofa to unwind once your kids are asleep. An upgrade to a better and more comfier sofas could do a great deal of wonder to this fabolous place.

We booked Himalayan ghar for 4 nights based on the reviews. I must say it was more than worth it. It’s located in the heart of Thamel area close to a lot of landmarks. Lots of restaurants close by. I was in touch with the hotel before I arrived with Mr Krishna Giri, its manager. He was extremely good with communicating back promptly and answered all my queries regarding local trips, must-do and must-see activities and places. This made it easy for us to plan our days in Kathmandu well in advance. we were made to feel very welcome once we arrived. From there on, Mr. Krishna was our go-to man. He was extremely polite, informative and helpful. He suggested some very good restaurants, places to visit and experiences in Kathmandu. He was only a message or phone call away to get any information you wanted. He even lent us his our own personal money when we were a little short of Nepali rupees for the zip line experience. That goes to show the extent of how welcoming and hospitable host he was. He arranged local trips for us with great ease. In all we had a wonderful stay at Himalayan ghar and would definitely come back here if I got another chance. I would definitely recommend Himalayan ghar for its location, great friendly staff and homely stay 😊

Himalayan Ghar hotel is a small but cozy hotel. Despite being located in the very busy Thamel district, it is located in a quiet dead end street. As a result, you absolutely do not have the idea that you are staying in a busy city. The rooms are spacious and clean. In the bathroom, nothing is missing in terms of amenities. Wonderful hot shower. However, what stands out in this hotel is the friendliness of the staff. The ladies of housekeeping are always cheerful and have time for a friendly chat every morning. But the ladies Preakchya and Sreesty are absolutely top. Because I lost my suitcase at the airport and my trekking started, the ladies made sure that my suitcase was neatly in the hotel 5 days later. Even though they had to go to the airport 3 times for this. Nothing is too much for them. In short, an excellent location for your stay in Kathmandu.

The breakfast is a bit limited, but the location on the roof with a view over Kathmandu makes up for it.

I liked the location; I could walk to most of the sites and I think it was located between the old city and the Thamel. The staff was friendly and helpful and I had great momos on the rooftop. I had the apartment on the top floor and cold see the monkey temple from the room. It was also quiet. If you want something local and a bit more rustic instead of the tourist hotels, I would recommend.

The balcony off the apartment was not what I expected. I wanted one of the wrap around ones you see in the pictures. The balcony was small and looked over a trashy area. The hot water was iffy; not reliable. Also, I asked for a high room (4th floor) with a view. I got it, but they did not mention that there was no lift.

Very well located, in the best part of Thamel in my opinion. Comfortable bedroom and huge bed! Very kind and professional staff. The bathroom was clean and modern. And the views from the rooftop terrace, where breakfast is served, are fabulous! This is a very well-rounded hotel and better than many in the UK. For those wondering about the reviews mentioning hot water, we had it during all of our stay. No problems at all and the tap is modern, so it’s very easy to control the temperature.

Mr Devendra Karki, the Manager of Himalayan Ghar helped us a lot to polish our whole trip. I went with my parents who are aged 60+. He ensured that we had a very comfortable stay at the hotel. He helped us to plan our trip further. For example, Mr Devendra suggested we visit Kusma. He booked our requested activities there as well. He also suggested one of the best hotels in Nagarkot and took care of our booking. He also provided us with a reliable driver who drove us around Nepal all the days during our stay. Mr Devendra also suggested some good restaurants in Kathm andu. Mr Devendra also checked from time to time if we were okay during our trip and answered our queries promptly. Overall, he made our trip easier! We also found a spacious suite at an affordable price with lots of amenities.

The location of the hotel was great, just at the end of Thamel. All the staff were fantastic, always happy and willing to help. Sandip front office manager was always there to assist, he is a young man but was switched on. Always there to help and answer any questions. The hotel organised a trip for me to go to Chitwan National park it was a 10 out of 10 for me. Fantastic organised. Mr. Buddha was my driver to Chitwan he was a very safe driver and always prompt. He also took me to Nagarcot and sights around Kathmandu. Thank you Mr. Buddha. also thank you to Santu, Raju, Bina, Alina, Byan the cook Sneha on reception. Breakfast was fantastic. Perfect for me.

Very nice hotel, brand new and exceptionally clean. Good location in Thamel, away from hustle and bustle but 5 min walk from everything. They have clean rooms and small flats which really made my stay homely and welcoming. Place is is super clean that you really feel like at home, nice interiors, neat and no cheap furnishings but solid wood and lovely Nepali themed upholstery. Staff were very friendly, Sandip (assistant manager) and Bijaya at reception were very helpful and always replied to all queries via sms and calls and you just felt everything is taken care of. Definitely recommending this place to relax and chill after travels and have nice city break as well.
