Comfortable and convenient.

We were allowed to leave our panniers when we arrived at 1:00pm and were told to return to check-in at 3:00pm, the normal check-in time. When we returned at 3:09 pm the door was locked, we didn’t have a key yet for entry, and nobody answered the bell or knocks.Another couple arrived also to check- in and we waited until 3:20 until someone saw us through the window and let us in. The helpful woman who let us leave our panniers was not there and another one was helping a customer at the desk. Not a great second impression.

The hotel is in the old building overlooking the canal so we really enjoyed charm of this wonderful town breathing history and art. If you prefer character to sleek modern shininess it is the right choice. It is a bit shabby but still has all the necessary facilities and it is very quiet.

In summer when it is above 25 the sun is shining right through the window making the room very hot. It is not recommended to open the windows because of the mosquitoes and the movable conditioner they provide is quite noisy.

My wife and I enjoyed a wonderful two weeks traveling in the Netherlands and Belgium by train, and by chance had incredible sunny weather throughout this time. We accepted travel guide advice to use Delft as a base for short trips, which for us meant Haarlem, the Hague, and Rotterdam/Kinderdijk. Hotel Grand Canal was a perfect location in Delft, as it is steps away from the brand new train station. In some periods, there are eight trains per hour from Amsterdam to Delft, and every train was EXACTLY on time. Our Delft hotel was a short and pleasant walk from the Market Square and other major attractions such as the beef market square. The hotel staff were incredibly helpful and friendly, storing our bags as we planned an arrival well before check-in time; and preparing an early breakfast when requested on days when we set out before most restaurants were open. The hotel has a nice breakfast room, with a buffet that includes freshly prepared eggs and many other items. All of the hotels 24 or so rooms have windows opening onto the Grand Canal. Our room had a high ceiling, ample space, and a decent private bathroom.

The Hotel Grand Canal does not have an elevator, but the steps to our upper floor room were larger and more manageable {even with bags} than those at some other places where we have stayed. The upper floors are not accessible for those with mobility impairments. As it was cool during our April trip, we did not determine whether rooms in this hotel have air conditioning.

Everything. We didn't do the breakfast, but we never do. You can't beat the location, view. Staff was more than friendly and accommodating. Room was clean and spacious for the two of us.

The only complaint we had was the other occupants at the time, who really need to learn hotel etiquette when it comes to closing doors. Not the hotel's fault. Sticky point with me as I spent my working career traveling and in hotels.

Small hotel by the canal. Friendly staff. Coffee machine in the room. You can rent a bike. All good except ...

Unbearable heat in the room. Some air -con which did not actually work. And the service door banging like thunder. I would recommend NOT to take room 29 for these reasons.

The location was awesome, just steps away from the train station and close to shops and places of intetest. The room was clean and had a charming view of the canal.

I was sometimes woken by drunk people screaming in the street but that's what you get in the center of a university city. The internal sound insulation was not great, so the neighbor's talking, snoring, etc was clearly audible. Only two coffees were complimentary for a six-day stay. I wonder if I stayed for only one night, would I also get two coffees? Then why not two per day? When paying so much for a room, is a coffee in the morning too much to ask? It was difficult to communicate with the staff about not changing the towels every day. For the environmentally conscious traveller, it's nice to be able to indicate which towels should be changed (by placing on the floor, for instance) and which to keep (by hanging up).

This was our second time staying at this hotel, we love it so much! Perfect location extremely close to the train station, just walk across the street and tracks and you’re there. The window in the room provides a gorgeous view and I was extremely happy to see they had added a portable air conditioner in the room as it was extremely warm and I cannot sleep in the heat! The breakfast was excellent, many different options (traditional Dutch options as well as others like eggs, cereal, etc.)

It is a small room but that was only really inconvenient this time as I had done a lot of shopping haha. Overall still fantastic and no issue if you are travelling light.

It was a lovely hotel, small in size but large in hospitality. The staff was friendly, helpful and professional. Due to scheduling, I stayed a second night and experienced both a regular room as well as the junior suite. Both were well laid out--suite had more amenities but comfort was the same in both. Hotel was especially friendly for dogs--daily charge was more than reasonable and made to feel more than welcome. Highly recommend staying here

We chose this hotel for its location and its beautiful building. We wanted to experience the atmosphere of Delft and therefore consciously did not choose a chain hotel. We also looked up the history of the building beforehand, which was very interesting and certainly worth looking into. After arriving at the train station, we walked to the hotel, which was a total of 5 minutes. We were warmly welcomed by a very friendly lady. The check in was smooth and we were provided with the necessary information. This was for us the first time travelling since Covid-19 so we were also a bit excited. Everything was well organised at the hotel and the staff gave us good information about the current measures and what we had to take into account. They thought along with us and that was certainly nice to go on a stress-free holiday. The room itself was extremely clean and the room smelled great. The facilities in the room exceeded our expectations, there was a nespresso machine, kettle and a small fridge where you could put something cold. In the bathroom you also had everything you needed. Our room was on the canal side and it was lovely to start the morning with a coffee and look out of the window. The hotel was within walking distance of the beautiful centre, from here we could do everything on foot. The buffet is very extensive and this was also neatly kept and cleaned every time. We really enjoyed our stay and hope to come back again, thanks for taking care of us.

Our short stay :(

The staff is very accommodating (and the dog that was sometimes at the front desk was an added value). The location is very close to the central train station without being in a dingy area typical of those types of locations. It is very short walk (5 minutes) into the main part of Delft. Great location. Rooms are small, but have natural light.

No complaints.
