What a fabulous place to stay in a great location with terrific staff. Joris was awesome. It was so nice to have him show us all around the castle on the day we arrived and to give us ideas for places to see/visit in the area as well as restaurant recommendations. We stayed in the Owl Room and loved it. The bed was super comfortable and it was nice to have screens on the windows so I didn't get eaten alive by mosquitoes. The breakfast was amazing (croissants, bread rolls, cheese, ham, jam, yogurt with fruit, lots of fresh fruit, granola, tea, coffee) with beautiful china place settings. It was nice to wander around the castle grounds and visit with the resident chickens and see the orchards. It was great meeting Alex, lord of the castle, at breakfast. Truly a memorable stay!

Everything worked well for us, but people should be aware of the very narrow, steep steps leading up to the tower rooms. Also, the open bathroom concept in the Owl room might put off some people. We thought it was all great since we were looking for a true castle experience.

Everything I guess! There was space in the castle itself to relax and play board games in the evening, listen to music and relax. Also the view around is great and if you love animals there are plenty around (fed the chickens and turkeys which was super fun!) Lastly, Willem the dog is occasionally around which is a nice addition 😀

Price, but I guess it's justified for the location. Rooms due to the construction and the age of the building are not sound proof so if your neighbours are even talking you can hear them. Lastly, kitchen would be nice to be open besides breakfast as I think that would even bring more money to the property and I would love to have a dinner there, or even a dessert.

The castle was well preserved, the hospitality amazing, our room breathtaking( the knights room). Once in a lifetime experience.. that we aspire to repeat in the future. Feeling like a knight yourself, you could touch, see and smell past centuries architecture and atmosphere. We were lucky enough ti go on a windy day so we could also listen to the wind from the towers windows, it was like a movie, awesome beyond our imagination. I wanted to stay awake all night just to admire the beautiful room’s architecture. We loved everything about our stay, even the hosts, who were extremely friendly and sweet. No words can describe this experience, we are looking forward to share the news with our friends. Thank you for everything

Kasteel Sterkenburg was a dream! We were made to feel at home straight away by our wonderful hosts. The Kasteel and it’s surroundings are nothing short of breathtaking. Inside, we were mesmerised by all the art and artifacts with plenty a good book to peruse. Breakfast was divine and nothing was too much trouble for our comedic and charismatic hosts. We will treasure the memory of our stay always. Thank you to all the Kasteel Sterkenburg family. Dutch hospitality at full power. Love Lauren & Rob

There is an authenticity to this place that is hard to describe until you have visited several other castles in the Netherlands. The “Head Man” George is an absolute gem, always handy and ready with a tip or historical information. The property is filled with eclectic historical items and replicas, and is more than one could possibly explore and take in over a couple of days.

"The castle was beautiful, and the hospitality was amazing. From the minute we arrived until the minute we left, we felt that all our needs were addressed, and the room was stunning. We enjoyed our stay so much and would love to come back again in the future!"

It may not be suitable for families with small children or anyone who dislikes clutter, though it's not a top priority for us.

The castle was wonderful, it definitely exceeded our expectations! The area is beautiful, in the middle of nature, with plenty of walking and biking trails nearby (by car). The host was very friendly and helpful, he shared the story of the castle, ideas on what to explore, where to eat. The room we stayed in was very beautiful and comfortable, made us feel like royalty. We also enjoyed a nice evening in the common area, with a fireplace, books and boardgames. In the morning - the breakfast was delicious, with local products - and the breakfast room was just as lovely and atmospheric as the rest of the castle.

It is a nice place to if you want a quiet and calm place far from the hustle bustle of the city. The manager of the castle Joris was wonderful and very nice to us. On our way back, he was kind enough to drop us to the bust stop by his private car. Much recommended !! Note: If you are using public transport, you will need to walk around 1.5km from the bus stop to the public place.

This castle is in an exquisite area. With lovely grounds and walking paths nearby, plus several small towns in biking distance. Joris, who served a locally sourced breakfast daily, was super friendly and helpful with activity recommendations. The castle itself is a little dusty and overcrowded with ancient items, but made for a most interesting stay!

A nice perk would have been bicycles we could have borrowed from the property directly. Another nice-to-have would be a gate clicker to enter the property. We felt quite bad if we stayed at dinner late and had to call the property manager to let us out/in at odd hours.

A great sense of arrival . Beautiful castle that is still sweet homely. The dinner is very nice and the staff are all really nice and helpful.

improve the breakfast would be very nice. The mattress is 2 beds together and the middle is not so comfortable. a bottle of water in the room would also be nice.
