This was not my first stay at the property. I’ve also stayed elsewhere in Haarlem. The location is excellent on the market square near the Cathedral. Amadeus is in close proximity to many great little bars & restaurants. The square can be quite noisy in summer time but the hotel is tucked away in a quiet corner & ear plugs are thoughtfully provided. The staff have always been very friendly & helpful. In these days of extortionate hotel prices this property provides value for money & is a typical Dutch hotel of its kind. At the moment the restaurant on the ground floor is in the process of refurbishment & will look pretty good when finished.
I have nothing negative to say!

Great location. Friendly staff. Good breakfast.
I arrived late and had a message that I could find my room key from a safe on the outside wall. I found it but it was about 6ft high on the wall and there's no way (at 5ft'7) I was going to be able to operate the code numbers. I was not able to get onto tables and chairs but, fortunately a lovely New Zealand couple arrived and she helped me out. The hotel could have done with a bigger sign..I walked past it 3-4 times before noticeing the small 'Amadeus' etched above the door. The New Zealand couple had done the same thing.

The room for the breakfast was very cosy and the breakfast was good. The ladies who served the breakfast were also nice and friendly.
We paid for the room in January and got the worst room in the hotel I think. Not the one that was on the picture of our booking. The toilet and the shower was in the wardrobe literally. The sink in the room. The shower was small and inconvenient. One day we were not given the second towel for the shower, the other day no shower mat. The booking said - the room with a view, well our vie was a brick wall and metal stairs.

One of the charms of visiting the Netherlands are the quaint, small, family owned hotels as opposed to the big [impersonal] chain accommodations. At the Amadeus each room has it's own character. Just walking from the Haarelm Train station down the cobbled streets, over the canal and winding through the architecture is a mini-vacation of it's own. It's right on the square with a big Heineken sign above the first floor roof. The breakfast was a continental style breakfast served from 8 am until 10 am. Things do not seem to get started until 10 in Haarlem so there's no rush to finish your breakfast quickly.
Perhaps some fruit with breakfast.

The location is very central making it excellent for exploring the city. Staff all very friendly and accommodating. Check in and out very easy in the bar. Good breakfast with plenty of choice (yogurt, breads, croissants, cheeses, meats, fresh fruit, tea/coffee, fruit juice) taken in the bar area of the hotel. Beds comfortable. Extra pillows supplied on request. Fan (no air con) in room. Toiletries. Tea and coffee in room. Very clean.
Our room faced towards the big church so was noisy from the bells chiming late then early (Earplugs supplied in room). We had to keep our window closed, which I didn’t like, to try to reduce the bell noise. Looked out over rooftops. The bathroom was very small, not enough room to get dried in. Suitcases stored in bar area so not secure.

Thank goodness for the lift! This is inner city and so the public transport is not allowed to drop you off at the hotel. Fear not, it is a quick walk. The restaurant has a lovely vibe. Breakfast options are limited but quality. Staff are friendly and knowledgeable. The room could do with soundproofing, but has a gorgeous view over the mark plain and is easy walking distance to main attractions in Haarlem. Another mercy is the kettle and coffee & tea selection. So many European establishments are moving away from this - I was very pleased to have access to this.

The location right at the main square of the town. The room was neat and clean with enough space for the 2 of us. There were walk in cupboards to store clothes etc. The room had a boiler kettle to make tea and coffee. Ear plugs were provided for a good night's sleep when there is noise in the main square. Lots of restaurants near the hotel. The breakfast was enough with sufficient variety.
The bathroom/toilet was a bit tight with not enough hooks to hang towels and clothes. The place in the middle of the main square has its downside with noise throughout the night with overenthusiastic revellers.

The hotel is ideally located on the main market square in Haarlem and is an excellent base for exploring this Dutch provincial town. The market square and streets leading off it have plenty of bars and restaurants to choose from. But it is also only a 15 minute walk to Haarlem station which is then less than 20 minutes from Amsterdam by train: a quieter (and probably cheaper) option to staying in the capital itself. The hotel room has basic but comfortable beds, a kettle in the room with a small supply of tea & coffee, a small shower & toilet room ensuite. My room was fine for one but might have been a bit cosy for 2. The free WiFi was ok (though I didn't try gamin on it or streaming TV so don't know how strong it was). A Dutch style buffet breakfast (rolls, croissants, ham, cheese, yoghurts, coffee etc:) in the cafe downstairs was included in the booking I made.
I couldn't get the TV to work- it looked like it needed to be re-connected to the WiFi. This might have been easily fixed but I didn't bother as I had plenty of stuff on the iPad to watch.

The location is right at the Grote Market and it is perfect. The room is exactly what I need for one person and the bed is so comfortable. Recommend to solo traveller who need a comfortable short stay in Haarlem.
There is daily housekeeping. So there was twice that the staffs knocked and opened the door while I was still inside the room at around 11am+.

Amazingly central with a great view over the town square, giving the bar and restaurant its other name. Perfectly simple room with all I needed. Nothing ostentatious or flashy and quiet simple comfort in the best spot in town. A lovely breakfast with attentive staff too.. The property owner was a bit of a character. I had to insist a bit to speak in Dutch. I don’t visit Holland to practice my English, but instead to deepen an appreciation for all things Dutch.
I asked to play the piano and the owner said, he’d prefer not to disturb his customers who were watching TV. They had the TV on but both were engrossed in their mobile phones paying no attention at all to the TV at all. So I get largely and falsely rebuffed, whereas I might have livened up the whole place with some jazz piano. That’s all I didn’t like. Otherwise it was an impeccable good value hotel. Staff should recognise customers willing to engage in Dutch language and not impose their English on me.
