We hosted a party at the function centre, so was great to be able to stay at the venue. The bar staff on the night & the restaurant staff the next day were fab! We literally spent thousands with you that night!

The Lady on check in was very rude! not just to us but others as well. She argued that we hadn’t prepaid & wouldn’t listen to us. It took the trainee (who was lovely) to find the notes on the account, whilst I was searching for the email confirmation to put this lady in her place.

The place suited my needs. I stayed for 4nights. Great kitchen and bathroom facilities and also a laundry room, some machines were out of order at the time but there were other machines available for use with a seating area just outside the laundry room where you can wait for your washing to be done, there are also vending machines available next to the seating area. A short walk to a friendly store with basics supplies. A bar/restaurant which I didn't get the chance to use, but it looks nice from the outside. The beds were comfortable. Very close to the city. I used the bus services (only a short 5min walk to the bus stop), private transportation, e-scooters, and an uber while staying at The Bealey Quarter. Lovely staff at reception and friendly cleaners who greeted me every time I saw them. The only reason I wasn't 100% about the cleanliness was because my room wasn't cleaned on one of the days I was there. The cheapest accommodation in Christchurch that was in the CBD. Close to everything.

The smell when walking into the lodge is a little much, so maybe better ventilation in the kitchen as it was from food smells.

Lovely warmth as we walked in, very comfortable. The beds were good. Sound was great to the last night. Nice walk into the city along the river Avon, to Regent St and the River district. Always immaculately clean, including kitchen. Staff lovely, both the room attendants and booking in and out. Love the type of kettle, not too small, or plastic.

Sound was great to the last night. It sounded like someone was dragging furniture around all night. Had been fine up to that point. (There for 3 nights)I had not struck that on previous visits. The kitchen could have more smaller pots, pans, and larger mugs would be good.

Early check-in is a big bonus for a new comer to the country in the morning. All you need in a properly equipped hostel kitchen: toaster, oven, stove up, microwave, cookers and cutleries, in multiple sets. It's a quieter season so easy to find a place to cook. The bathroom is clean and modern, so is the building itself. There's a bus stop right outside the place (route 44) and fairly close to the city centre even on foot.

Below are not complaints, but merely a couple of points I noticed during the stay and may bother future guests. Maybe it's holiday time so some kids run around and made noises from time to time, but not during the night, which is okay. The TV lounge got locked up for some reason, and the pool table is empty. The reading room/Internet place has no window in it.

Clean and accommodating staff and facilities! Affordable and location is great, easy to find and sort of central to shops. Showers were clean, just need bigger towels and probably for the bed sheets to be changed daily cause we had the same sheets for all 3 nights.

Just probably the noise level - the rooms weren't soundproof, so you could hear who was walking up the stairs and just when people were talking or yelling across to other rooms.

Check in was a breeze, room beautiful, clean and as expected from pictures online when booking. Daily house keeping were caring, accomodating and always topped up free coffee and hot chocolates and bathroom towels and toiletries etc. Restaurant and Bar Room was delicious, prices were great, we went nearly every night and when we didn't we got room service which was amazing, easy to book and pay when delivered via eftpos. Comfortable beds, great TV/Sky selection and range. We used the laundry services at the venue which were easy to use. $4 for a wash, $4 for dry and $2 for laundry powder at the reception. Very large Fridge in our room which was awesome. Short walk to New World, Mobil across the road and Ubers found it easy and fast when we needed.

The room, kitchen and bathrooms were clean. The location was great and close to the city. It was an easy walk into the city. The staff were great and quick to help with issues when they arose. The bed I had been initially allocated was taken. When I reported this to the office, they allocated me to a new room, and fortunately for me, this was not full.

I was in an 8-bed dorm. Had my dorm been full, there would not have been much space. There is a locker for each person, but my bag did not fit under the bed, nor into the locker, which meant that it sat in the walkway/passage in the room. However, the facility met my budget and my stay was pleasant. I would certainly return if in Christchurch again.

We stayed in one of the garden court rooms. We had two king sized beds which were very comfortable. The shower pressure was amazing. Room was spacious and was very warm so was really good for our 4 month old baby. Overall clean , can’t complain . Good value for the amount we paid and the length we stayed.

Parking was a first in first serve basis and sometimes car parks would be occupied by people only going to the restaurant and bar that’s on site and not actually staying at the bealey.

Great room, comfy beds, excellent WiFi, great restaurant food, great facilities (kitchen, laundry, drier), would recommend, great value for money.

- The only issue we had is the accommodation is a mixed of a hotel, motel, and hostel, the website does not make that overly clear. So we thought we were going to a motel but it were in the hostel part, where we had a great stay, we were just surprised when we turned up and read the fine print for our booking. - Accommodation was a little far from restaurants, stores, downtown Chc (around 20 min walk) - Parking was limited / first come first serve

December 2022

Bed was nice and clean. All the staff were friendly. The general environment was clean. Plenty car parks was very convenience when drive your own car. The restaurant and café were beside, very nice. Closes city centre and other places where I was planned to visit.

The electrical kettle in the room, and the bathroom sink/mirrow got brown (coffee?) stains, I cleaned them my self before use them. The first minute I walked in to the room, one of the staff suddenly open my room before I responded when she knocked the door, she said she wanted to check if the room been cleaned, she got no idea I had been checked in. The upstairs guests were noisy in a night. In our "Studio Twin" build, the first morning I found the metal gate faces Bealey Ave was wide open, that was insecure, people could walk in to our build from the street straight away. One evening, I heard someone knocked my door, I open it, was a stranger looking for someone else. Then I have to be very careful before answering the door every time.
