My family & I recently stayed at Tower Road Motel in Matamata and had a fantastic experience! The motel staff was friendly and accommodating, especially as we had our autistic child with us and he was not wanting to be in a car & was overwhelmed, the motel staff allowed us to check in early which we really appreciated. The room was clean and comfortable, warm on arrival as heater was turned on, beds were also warm and the location was convenient and quiet at night so you get a good nights sleep. The motel exceeded my expectations in terms of value for money. The bed was comfy, the shower had great pressure, the night lights were perfect and the free Wi-Fi was a bonus. I also appreciated the quiet and peaceful atmosphere. I would highly recommend Tower Road Motel to anyone looking for a reliable and affordable place to stay while visiting Matamata area.

That we had only a short stay- if we visit again we will definitely stay longer

It was a last minute booking but Tower Road Motel was able to accommodate us. It was easy to find. When we arrived we knew what we had to do to find our room. Our room was quiet, clean and just right. We were a little late checking out the next morning, but the staff were very nice by letting us check out a little later than usual. All in all a great overnight experience.

Nothing really ... I am a bigger person so a larger towel would have been nicer, but that's just my preference. There was nothing wrong with the supplies that were in the room.

Very friendly welcome. Thoughtful to have turned on the heatpump in anticipation of our arrival. Very easy to find, great location with easy access. Lovely sized unit (main room had 2 single beds, separate room had a Queen sized bed). Kitchen was well stocked with pots/plates/utensils etc. Good water pressure in the shower. Comfortable and clean bedding. Will definitely stay again!

Bathroom sink is old style, very low. Possibly could be modernised.

Friendly and helpful staff, meeting our requests for extra kitchen equipment. Allowed us to plug in our electric car for free. Lovely big lawn where we were able to have a picnic dinner. Small children's playground which the children enjoyed. Close to the Tower Museum and the rail trail is right at their gate. Good shower if a little too low. Well insulated from noise from adjoining units. We had 3 units for 3 families, 2 studio units and one 1-bedroomed unit. The one-bedroomed unit was more spacious in the living area and better equipped in the kitchen but small bedroom.

In the studio units, handbasin in the kitchen area which was rather strange. Shower/ toilet area rather small. Bed a bit bouncy but reasonably comfortable.

Location. Cleanliness. Comfort. Plenty of space and hosts helpful and friendly. Would have rated higher if not for location of bathroom basin. Shower pressure was wonderful and bed very comfortable.

Would have preferred the bathroom basin separate from the kitchen area. Was okay for an overnight stay for a couple but probably not great for longer.

Easy location, and flexibility with check in after having done a night kayak tour. You get your own car port for parking. Small kitchenette with a toaster, electric stove top and salt&pepper. They provide helpful advice in their leaflet about takeaways and delivery for food as well. There's also a laundry available to use. Perfect for our purposes passing through. Got good sleep on the beds. The water in the showers was easy to get hot. Towels, soap and shampoo provided.

Check the windows including in the bathroom are closed, otherwise insects can become a nuisance. This is normal for many places in NZ though.

We stayed in an older style 1 bedroom apartment/villa which had undercover parking by the front porch. It was exceptionally clean and there was a pretty green outlook with an apple tree growing next to the kitchen. The kitchen was well set up with equipment to self cater and there were a few supermarkets a short drive away. The beds were comfortable with a good selection of pillows. Staff were friendly and helpful. Hobbiton is a 20 minute drive from the motel.

Rural waking up to the birds. But close to town I had seen the motel when I last visited the Firth Tower museum nearby and liked the look of it. I had the detached cottage which was perfect

The TV wouldn't pick up a signal. Was a minor thing for me. I meant to mention it to the owner when I handed back the key but we got chatting and I forgot. Im sure its been attended to.

Tower Road was well located for us to do a day trip over to Papamoa. It is well kept and clean and tidy. Nice walking distance to town for us.

Be good to have a bit more comfortable seating to watch TV rather than lying on the bed. Maybe remove the extra single bed and put a better chair in?

Spacious rooms. Beautiful hot shower. Everything we needed in the kitchen. $5 washer and dryer were perfect. Undercover carport was well used in bad weather. Comfortable beds. Air-conditioning was bliss. Short drive to local supermarket. Great location for popular local attractions Lovely hosts. Not much road noise
