The space was lovely. Well appointed and great room for kids to move about

The restaurant had an error to our booking. We booked 2 adults and 2 kids but were placed at a corner of the walking lane with only enough table room for 2 people. The staff were lovely but the food for adults arrived in advance of kids food and the table squeeze was frustrating. Great food once it arrived though.

Wairakei Resort is a good comfortable hotel. The room was a good size fitting 2 double beds with a nice balcony overlooking the gardens. The hotel has some good fitness facilities and a fab 20M lap pool that is heated geothermally and is like a warm bath. The Hotel was quiet even though busy for the Ironman 70.3 World Championships. We liked that the hotel was away from downtown Taupo about 10 minutes in the car.

We felt that the hotel was looking a little dated and tired by modern standards. It was however clean and well maintained.

Bar and restaurant were great : good food and great service. Pool complex is really nice...great location across the road from the new Wairakei Terraces and Huka Falls a short drive away

The room we had was perfect for my husband who is in a wheelchair most of the time, easy to shower him and staff were so great. Room is nice and spacious. We really enjoyed it. Husband had a stroke 18months ago and it was the first time we had been away and we weren't sure if it was going to be ok. But it was great there and we will definitely be back. Thankyou.

Husband with disability really was looking forward to a swim, however the railing was good but the step down into the pool was too high so he couldn't get in. Need a seat in the shallow end or another step that people with a disability can sit on and enjoy the pool. Also your wheelchair while great that you have one, had no foot rest so he had to hold his feet up while I pushed the chair.

We loved the size of the room. We travelled with an 18 month old baby and the junior suite we had was perfect. The sliding doors were perfect to "close off" the room so our baby girl could go to sleep while we watched tv in the other room. Great to have a bathroom with a separate bath and shower. The facilities were great and long opening hours. The cocktails at the geyser bar were amazing!

Some of the facilities are a bit outdated and can use a spruce up. For example the spa pools and the changing rooms by the pool and sauna. Also, we found the breakfast buffet expensive. Some info on their website needs to be updated because it's outdated.

I enjoyed the amenities and being able yo wonder the grounds as the resort is quite abundant in outdoor space, we enjoyed our time there. The man running the bar was lovely and friendly very inviting. Very grateful for the opprtunity to have a later check out and loved that the pools were geothermal which is what Taupo is good for.

The room smelt really funny like too much perfume type spray or something and had no way to fill the kettle, kids menu was slightly over priced for frozen foods and keri juice. The pictures on the website showed a lovely big bath but we didn't have that luxury maybe because we booked through a deal site.

Great location just out of Taupo township, close enough to get to the supermarket for supplies and the lake for swimming. Awesome facilities and activities, two pools, two spas, sauna, gym, squash, tennis, basketball, playground. Delicious breakfast. Friendly helpful staff. They let us check in a couple of hours early which was great.

A bit run down in some areas, our mattress was way too soft. We had to have our fridge swapped out because it hadn’t been cleaned properly before we arrived and was smelling bad.

It was spacious and well maintained for being an older property. We loved that it was so close to a lot of major Taupo attractions like the Huka Falls and Craters of the Moon.

The pool was too hot for a hot summer’s day. We were looking forward to a refreshing dip but it was as hot as a warm spa. The kids were disappointed they couldn’t actually swim in the pool and there were lots of other disappointed guests. It’d have been good to know the pool would be this hot - maybe we would’ve booked somewhere else.

The thermal pool was enjoyable and easily accessible. The breakfast food was good but we found the restaurant food very expensive and t poor quality. We spent 3 nights and bought food from the BP Station on the last night!

We didn't like the food or the restaurant. The steak was fine but the chicken was over cooked and dry and the fish the same. I ordered curry thinking that with Indian staff it would be a good choice but it turned out to be goat and tasteless - just hot not aromatic.

We are a disabilities whānau. The accessibility room was top grade. Spacious enough to move a wheelchair without knocking into or having to move furniture. The bathroom facility is the best we've encountered of all the Motels - Wairakei was the fourth we stayed at on our roadtrip. The staff were welcoming from the moment we arrived from reception to the young man who asked to assist with our bags to the resturant staff. We'll be back and we'll recommend to all.

We didn't like that we had to leave.
