November 2022
This was a great hotel. It's newer and very nicely decorated and tasteful. Yet, casual. They had some Christmas groups during our stay in November, and people were dressed nice, so you can have a casual or fancy experience here. All staff were incredible and nice. Very accommodating. Room was super clean, comfortable and newer. Views are great if you get an ocean view. Beds are very cozy. Restaurant was very good. Breakfast was exceptional (seriously impressed). If there is an option to pay just for the breakfast without staying at hotel, I would even do that. It's the best I've seen traveling the World. Parking is free. Robe and slippers in room. Shampoo, conditioner, bodywash and body lotion provided in tubes, not like most hotels where they have hair/body wash pump. We stayed 2 times on our trip to Lofoten. Once on the way up and once on the way back because of how comfortable it was. Hotel located walking distance to everything within town, even in colder months. Pharmacy, groceries, shopping "mall", shops, barbers etc. If you forget something at home, you can buy it in town. Extremely equipped city. Suggestion (booking doesn't have suggestions area): -Make reservations at a restaurant (any in the area) beforehand, easily fills up during November. -Be aware that if you are looking to go to the Lofotens for a secluded break, Svalvaer is a city atomosphere, don't be fooled by the drive from Trømsø. People fly in to the area or take buses.
They are working on sauna/hot tub they told us, so that was the only disappointment, once it's done, this negative will be irrelevant.

The property was beautiful aesthetically, the staff are friendly and helpful, but also the breakfast Dining Room experience fascinated me. They have a fabulous big orange juicer which feeds in oranges in a basket at the top, and as you press the button for juice below, the oranges move through a process of being halved, squeezed and lovely fresh juice comes out. As well as this, the variety of food was amazing , and the staff are always unobtrusively wiping down surfaces, so it’s all spotlessly clean and refreshed. The hotel is right near the bus stop and ship terminal, and close to the main part of Svolvaer and the Information Centre. .
Nothing.

Clean comfortable room, good breakfast, good location.
Upon arrival we found out that although we’d reserved a room with sea view, we’d been allocated a different type of room (no sea view) and that’s outfitted for people with disabilities. We went down to reception, the employee mumbled that too many people had arrived that day… And did not acknowledge the fact that we’d placed our reservation over. 6 months before. I suggested that he upgrade us, did not receive an answer. I requested that he call the duty manager, he replied that the manager was not available. After some additional prodding the guy did “find” another room, with sea view. Not a good start for our stay at the hotel (had a reservation for 3 nights ).

The bed is the most comfortable bed ever tried. The breakfast is amazing, a lot of choice with gluten free and vegan options. Staff was really kind: especial mention to Marrien in the reception and to Irma in the buffet, they really walked the extra mile to made our days
No hot milk on the buffet. Veg milk is only oat (contains gluten) or lactose free (no veg): pls add almond milk for celiac/veg people. Limited channels in English on room tv. No sauna. Pression of shower is a bit low. But these are just small details, nothing important.

Beautiful room and views - we booked an ocean view. Exceptionally clean and new facilities. Comfortable bed. Ideal location right next to the ferry. Decent restaurant.
Air conditioning did not work or turn on at all and they said it could not be fixed for 48 hours, which was unhelpful as we were only staying one night. There is no deadbolt on the door. The lock is electronic and didn't work at times. When it did work, it takes at least a minute to activate. In a brand new facility I think this in unacceptable. An internal manual locking system is essential for basic safety when we are sleeping.

Location, calm atmosphere, excellent staff, comfortable room with a nice view. I had to leave early to catch the 6am boat to Bodo so I can’t comment on the breakfast available. The hotel did however give me a breakfast bag to take away comprising yoghurt with cereal, fruit, sandwich and water. Having stayed at both, I would say that this hotel is better than the other Thon hotel in Svolvaer which had a noise and more bustling atmosphere. There is only a short distance between them so this one is equally good for people catching ferries and is very close to the pick up spot for buses.
I don’t have anything to complain about

This Thon hotel is a great option in Svolvaer. It's within walking distance to the harbor and city center, and some rooms have excellent water views. Thon hotels usually have good breakfasts, but this one had the BEST hotel breakfast I had in Norway! So many options, and everything was hot and fresh. The beds here were also very comfy.
The restaurant wasn't open on the day we stayed, but luckily the Paleo Arctic at the neighboring Thon Hotel Lofoten was open, so we ate there (and it was great). Other than that, there are a few weird things all Thon hotels have in common, like needing to use your key card to lock you room from the outside, and only offering TVs that you can "cast" your phone to. But overall still really liked this one.

This review is for Thon Lofoten, as Thon Svolvaer changed our booking a month or so before we travelled. The hotel is great, good central location, ask for a room with a sea view. The breakfast was amazing - we stayed in several different hotels during this trip and the breakfast at Thon Lofoten was definitely the best. So much choice and excellent quality - people were even taking videos of the different breakfast stations!
The air conditioning in our room was noisy and blasting out cold air all the time and we struggled to work out any way of changing it. When we asked at the desk, we were told to take the key card out of the power slot in the room, but that meant we lost all power so not really an option!

The bed is very very comfortable. The breakfast is amazing: they have a lot of gluten free options and veg options. The staff is available and kind and helpful. A special remark to the French receptionist at night and to the young lady in the reception in the morning: they walked the extra mile to assist us and their kindness made an impression on us.
There is not hot milk. Pls give option to warm the milk in case of need as coffe with milk with cold milk is not very nice, especially in cold mornings. The only veg milk is oat and that contains gluten. It would be great to have almond or soy milk.

Exc upscale hotel in heart of downtown Svolvaer, Lofoten Islands Norwary... Front desk staff very friendly and helpful, excellent breakfast spread, with coffee available v early on. Bathroom actually has a bit of counter space, which is rare in nearly all of Europe/Scandinavia. Shower stall itself is tight for tall/large shouldered man: typical. Rate was v good as we were there in early October; I suspect rate is much higher in season, esp August.
Even though it was 7- 12 degs C outside the days we were there, we had to 'work' at getting room cool to sleep in: Lack of ceiling fans and no real A/C continues to amaze us from the US: in summer months be prepared to have a very warm to hot room anywhere in Iceland, The Faroes, Norway and most of Europa. Dunno how they do it.
