My room was quiet with a very comfortable mattress. The heating came on at 7pm and the room stayed heated until about 7am. The breakfast was one of the best I had in my travels with good variety of options for different dietary needs. There is also filtered water and boiling water readily available in the lounge which was really convenient and environmentally friendly. The hotel has a nice vibe to it and relaxing decor.

The wifi connection was very poor and mostly I couldn't access the hotel's wifi. I could however access wifi via my esim.

The staff were all very helpful and friendly. The daily breakfast was wonderful and eggs were cooked to order with a variety of fruits, breads, pancakes, juices and more. The lovely garden courtyard was in full bloom and enjoyed the oasis being in the city. The shower was hot and powerful, room was cozy and comfortable and bed and pillows were very comfy too.

The floors are thin, so the guests upstairs above our room woke us up every day with their luggage rolling and footsteps. Some guests also were disrespectful in the early mornings and talked very loudly in the garden courtyard which I am sure everyone was woken up too. Maybe the hotel should leave a note to all guests that quiet hours outside your rooms are 10pm-7am.

This small hotel converted from a traditional house had a peaceful atmosphere and a lush courtyard interconnected with stairs. The staff was ultra friendly and took the initiative to change our room twice, in low season of course, until we get satisfied (the first one had 4 beds in the room which made it a bit stuffy, and the second was two small with little light, and the third one was perfect). Breakfast was satisfactory and kitchen was the cleanest I have seen in a hotel. 7/24 service of coca tea, coffee and other infusions in the lobby was a plus. The location of the hotel is very good, just steps from San Blas square with many good eating and shopping options, but you might want to take a taxi back home due to the mild uphill positioning. They provided us with a breakfast pack the day we went out early for Machu Picchu and kept our luggages the whole day when we checked out on the day of our flight. Very good management overall, and the cleanest little hotel I have seen so far.

Thee location and stairs could force the ones with an altitude sickness or people with disabilities.

We visited Amaru twice - once in a standard room and in a more expensive room. Both were great sizes and the more expensive one was bigger and had a gorgeous view across Cusco. The breakfast had lots of options (the pancakes were our favourite). The reception staff were all fantastic and we used the laundry service (we dropped it off directly at the shop down the road, and the laundrette returned it to the hotel which was very easy). The location of the hotel was great, near lots of good places to eat and not far from the plaza de armas. The hotel is on a lovely narrow street, but taxis were able to drop us off at the entrance to the hotel.

It was a bit annoying for the door at reception to always need to be buzzed open, but there was always someone there so didn't cause an issue.

Positive points: 1. Flexibility for check-in. 2. It’s possible to leave the luggage at the hotel after check-out.

I would like to highlight three negative points during my stay: 1. The room’s power outlets are not in good condition, as none of them fit properly when we needed to plug in our phones to charge. In addition, there are very few outlets in the room—only two. 2. When I needed to place an order from the hotel’s menu, 30 minutes after placing the order, I was called and informed that only a ham and cheese sandwich was available. 3. The hairdryer stopped working. My wife was using it, and it suddenly stopped functioning.

It is close to the Plaza de Armas, only a 10 minute walk at a leisurely pace. The room was large and kept clean. The shower gets nice and hot. The breakfast was good. All in all, I liked staying here.

The street to get to the hotel can be daunting, especially if you're not yet used to the city, as the sidewalks are very narrow and it is up a hill. It is in an older building that is showing some signs of wear, like a large crack in the floor of the room, but it was easy enough to work around. The heater in my room didn't work, but I packed warm pajamas and was ok with just that. The soundproofing is terrible, so bring ear plugs.

The staff were amazing and were always there to assist. The breakfast was wonderful and there was low traffic from the street making it ideal. Everything was very walkable and the garden and view from the hotel were quite nice. Overall it was a great atmosphere.

The nature of Cusco is getting up early to go on a trek or head to Machu Picchu at 4am, so this is not the fault of the hotel, but it was really really loud in our room at unreasonable hours in the morning. The other guests were not very considerate of being quiet when getting ready in their rooms. I would recommend asking for a top floor room away from the staircase to avoid some of the sounds we heard.

Place is located quite close to all tourist places in Cusco, and is located on a nice alley. Room was comfortable and neat. Courteous and hospitable staff. I do not know Spanish, but I had to go to another hotel upon checkout at this hotel and needed some information before getting there. The front desk at Amaru Colonial was kind enough to help by calling the other hotel, speaking in Spanish and getting the information. It was really helpful, so thanks for that.

I love staff work there, very caring for there customers. The front desk make sure we get our taxi and provided walking directions which were very helpful. Breakfast is always a great start to the day! Rooms are very clean and bed is very comfortable. Very much appreciated the free tea and coffee throughout the day. The market at San Blas across the street is a must go to.

WiFi is a bit spotty in the back rooms

This is a nice hotel in Cusco. I enjoyed my time there and the staff were excellent. I booked my stay several months in advance and I always - naively - imagine that I will get “first pick” of the available rooms in the appropriate category. Instead, as I so often find, I got a ground-floor room looking out immediately onto stairs used exclusively by the service staff - and so used a lot… and noisily.

The narrow street outside the hotel is very intimidating. I wonder how often pedestrians are hit by the wing mirrors of passing SUVs and minibuses?
