After some weeks on the road and working for festivals, we arrived at Peña d'Água for what was supposed to be one night of wellness, good food and a nice bed. We got so much more! At the reception we were given a warm welcome and felt immediately at ease. We enjoyed some relaxing massages and had dinner in the hotel restaurant. Sommelier Rubén gave us interesting information about both the food and the wine. The food itself was made with love and great detail, the wine, an Azorean bestseller, was sublime! After our first night it was quite rainy so we enjoyed a late breakfast, watched some movies in our room and did a tour of the the new hand lab, a wool museum and art gallery. The people from the hotel told us about a sunset party happening in the hotel the day after.. so we booked another night! This day we first went hiking on rota das faias, as the receptionist suggested, and had lunch at Cafe Central in Manteigas, after which we walked around in the glacial river Praia. When we arrived back at the hotel, we noticed a problem with our brakes. The receptionists again were so helpful and got us an appointment with a garage the day after. We then enjoyed the party, tried the local gin, had very good food and mingled with the sweet people of the hotel team, their friends and other guests. We met the family who owns the hotel and had a lovely night! Since it took more time, we booked another night, went hiking up the mountain overlooking covilha and visited Praia fluvial as suggested, yet another amazing day with great breakfast, astonishing views of Covilha and everything we could ever ask for. If you are looking for a cosy family business place to be pampered, feel close to nature and taste amazing dishes and wines, you are at the right spot! We loved everything from the atmosphere to the hotel's interior design, developed by the owners' son. Peña d'água truly deserves the highest rating.

Not being able to stay longer 😄

Wow modern very nice designed new hotel. Especially the bar and breakfast room they are very cozy furnished. We didn't want to move from there:-). We stayed 1 night in standard rooms but the hotel has also more room categories and even villas. In the courtyard is outdoor swimming pool with sun beds and also SPA with indoor pool and small fitness center. We were pleasantly suprised with this hotel especially therefore the city Covilha is not very nice and we didn't find it attractive for tourist. On the other hand it is good starting or end point after visiting mountain area, which is very nice. In the evening we have got aperitif in the beautiful hotel bar and Gourmet 4 Seasons dinner which was delicious and we had a chance to travel the region through pairing wine & food in this exceptional hotel. The hotel staff in each department is extremely polite and one of the reception even is Portugal speaks Czech, it was nice moment for us also.

We spent 3 days over Christmas at Pena D’Água and the experience was magical! It was our 2nd time staying and this time we brought our family & puppy to spend Christmas at this lovely hotel. On the first night, my husband couldn’t sleep because of noise from a leak in the bathroom, and the next day we were promptly upgraded to a better room. We had Christmas Eve dinner at the hotel’s restaurant Açafrão, which in our opinion, was better than some Michelin Star meals we have had. The attention to detail, the quality of the food, the service… everything was incredible. The coziness of the hotel and friendliness of the staff is unmatched. The team went above and beyond to ensure our stay was super special. A special thank you to Francisco and Nuno for making our stay so incredibly pleasant. Their professionalism and kindness made all the difference! Also, if you want a relaxing massage during your stay, we highly recommend Margarida, she’s amazing! The hotel is very beautiful and clean. They accept dogs, which is an extra for a boutique hotel. Usually hotels that accept dogs are not that good and clean and this one was perfect. The breakfast exceeded our expectations. Very fresh and with a lot of diversity. Luís from the bar was super kind and made us very good hot chocolates.

The restaurant of the hotel was closed and the offers that existed in Covilhã were not the best ones. Also, the car parking of the hotel is paid, 15€ per day and it was not covered. The price for dogs was also 15€ per night. The fact that the staff of the hotel was different every day didn’t help with communication. Drinks and food in the bar was a little overpriced.

Absolutely wonderful staff, all extremely courteous and helpful. Delicious breakfast, in particular the croissants and fresh, all natural, orange juice. Staff were extremely accommodating and provided us with lactose free milk.

The SPA wasn't great, mainly the pool, whose water was cooler than expected (we asked to turn it up a bit but when we went the next day it was still a bit cold) and the "waterfall" wasn't working. The room was quite small, literally just a room with an en-suite.

The boutique hotel is super cozy, with amazing and super friendly staff! They’ve taken the initiative to help us with restaurants reservations for Christmas eve and dinner… I felt extremely grateful and happy about the treatment that we had :)

The hotel room is very good! The shower is amazing and bed super comfortable, but the pillow was a bit flat for my taste. Also, the inside pool could be kept warmer! But overall the hotel is very good!

The most ideal location in covilha, easy access to busses out of town, completely peaceful, housing the best restaurant in town with the cleanest most fresh pool, extremely nice staff and excellent service. Only minor drawback was that breakfast didn't start until 8.30 and we get up at 6.30 and there was no coffee in the room 😬 Everything else was just perfection

We had the most incredible honeymoon experience at this hotel! From the moment we arrived, the staff went above and beyond to make our stay special. The room was beautifully decorated with flowers, and we were pleasantly surprised with a bottle of champagne. The level of service and hospitality here is truly outstanding. The staff members are attentive and genuinely caring, ensuring that every aspect of our stay was perfect. The cleanliness of the hotel was also impeccable, which added to our comfort. One standout moment was when the receptionist took the time to plan an entire trip for us the next day. Their thoughtful recommendations made our day memorable and hassle-free. We can't thank the staff enough for making our honeymoon so magical. We highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a luxurious and unforgettable experience.

Lovely traditional town house, tastefully renovated with a modern twist. Deliciously fresh breakfast both mornings with good quality produce. It was very dog friendly which was a bonus for us. The staff were helpful and friendly and a credit to the hotel

Our room at the front of the building was rather noisy with traffic on the cobble road. In my opinion having the basin in the bedroom rather than the bathroom didn’t work.

We recently spent 3 nights at the Pena D'Agua while touring Portugal, and the stunning Serra Da Estrela national park which the hotel is located close to. The hotel’s tasteful decor and cleanliness, plus the friendliness of the staff impressed us. The rooms were impeccably maintained, and the overall ambiance was inviting. We highly recommend this hotel for anyone looking for beautiful, clean, and good priced accommodation. Also, a special thank you to Carlota for going out of her way to help us when we had car issues.
