The room was absolutely beautiful, there was a lovely room available to sit in, with tea, coffee, cake and water. My husband enjoyed a game of billiards/pool. The breakfast was huge, with many choices and our hostess was extremely lovely.

If the weather had been a little warmer, I could have enjoyed the pool- but that is something we cannot control!

Amazing house, very old, quirky and bursting with character. Amelia, the host and owner, is kind and helpful. The room was clean and everything worked as it should. Breakfast was a pleasant, typical cold continental collation, in the sunny dining room which has great views across town from the small balcony. The garden, across the street, is a lovely calm place to sit with great views and a swimming pool, which we didn't try, but was also clean and well kept. Parking is on the street, but there was always room - just remember to put the handbrake on fully as the street (like many in the town) is very steep! We were there during the festival of Nossa Senhora da Graca (w/e 8th Sept) which added some additional local interest, several processions and brass bands!

Nothing to dislike - but be aware that this is a very old house, with many steps, which would be a significant challenge for someone with mobility problems, as indeed would many parts of Manteigas

This is the best bed and breakfast I have ever stayed in. An astonishing beautiful historic Manor house, restored with immense care. The house has been in the family who own it and run it for hundreds of years. They are so customer focused that nothing is too much trouble. The house is pristine clean, rooms serviced daily, complimentary tea/coffee, and cake available in the lounge area. The bed was super huge and very comfortable with nice linens. The bathroom had tons of hot water, fluffy white towels and an actual bath, heaven. The breakfast is superb with fresh squeezed orange and a mixed fruit juice, pastries, local cheeses and all the normal goodies. We had a lazy day in their lovely garden on loungers by the pool after several hard days off road biking, just perfect. Manteigas is a very pretty town in the serra estrella mountains with several nice cafes, restaurants and I wouldn't hesitate to come back for a walking or biking trip in the area 10 out of 10! Obrigada!

Not a problem for us but be aware parking is outside on the street which is cobbled and gets steeper as you go down the hill.

If you love historic buildings and interiors then you will love this place. It is quite literally like stepping back in time. The Casa is very comfortable and we had a very spacious downstairs bedroom which had everything we needed for a comfortable stay including a fridge. There is complementary tea, coffee, water, cake and biscuits in the hallway which was a very nice touch. There is also a pool table in a lovely old room that you can use until 10pm. There is a small swimming pool in the garden which is great for hot days and a cool down after a walk in the mountains. The house is historic but spotless and the lady who owns it is lovely and extremely helpful. Manteigas is a pretty little town on a hillside so be happy for some walking up and down. Breakfast was simple but good. We had dinner at steakhouse Alfatima which was good although a steep climb back upto to the house. We had meat but the pasta dishes also looked good. We also had a pizza at the local pizza restaurant .

Nothing it was excellent value for money.

We loved this property, rich with history, full of interesting common areas to explore and relax in. We enjoyed playing cards in the game room and there was also an option to play pool. There was cake, tea and coffee available all the time which was nice after a long day of hiking. Breakfast had a wide variety of local pastries and homemade yogurt, fresh fruits, meats and cheeses, etc. The lady running the place was so kind and attentive. She even does the fresh flower arrangements throughout the premises from their gardens. Parking was easy on the street right by the property. We hiked for two days, and just walked to the trailheads from the hotel. This place was such a great value for the money and we would stay there again.

Nothing, everything was great

What a beautiful old house! This was an absolute surprise as we didn't expect to be staying is such a historic family house. We had the bedroom on the first floor with the floor all to ourselves - it felt like being in a National Trust historic house back in the UK. A very friendly welcome, advice where to eat in the evening as well as the chance to use their open air pool on the other side of the road - we wished we could have stayed a few more days!

Our bed creaked a bit - OK when you got settled and went off to sleep.

We arrived at the house after a stressful day having broken down in Nazare. We couldn’t find the house to begin with, it was far and raining and we weren’t in sane mind!! Amelia was delightful, she came out with an umbrella to find us and welcomed us like long lost friends. Within a minute of being inside our stresses fell away and we settled into the beautiful home. Our room was stunning, the bed super comfortable and spotlessly clean. There was coffee, tea, water and a range of beautiful cakes and rice biscuits on a tray in the hall for us to enjoy. The TV room, snooker table and chess nook are delightful and breakfast is something else! The best green juice I have ever tasted and the best banana bread outside of Australia!!! Thank you so much for a lovely stay and making us feel so at home and welcome. We spent a lovely few hours in Granittus Bar with some super friendly locals. The wine was superb and the food fresh and flavoursome. Would highly recommend.

Nothing at all it was 10/10

The house is an old manor full of character and charm, right in the center of Manteigas. The room is very spacious, the heating works great and the bed is comfy. The staff is really friendly, and went above and beyond to provide vegan breakfast options for us, after we asked at the time of booking if there would be any. They got us plant milk, yogurt, cheese, butter and galantine, and even made delicious apple pastries and pancakes for us! That's on top of what I assume is their usual, "accidentally vegan" assortment of different kinds of bread, cereal, fruit and jams. We couldn't be happier.

There's nothing negative to point out, so I'll just make a suggestion: it would be nice to eventually replace the bathtub with a shower base, which is more accessible for elderly people and others for whom it may be difficult to hop into the tub.

Amazing place! Truly historical house full of beautiful antiques. The rooms were large and very comfortable. Amelia was a very warm and hospitable host, when we arrived and she saw how tall my partner was she switched us to a room with a bigger bed. And she gave us lots of good recommendations for restaurants and sights to explore. The breakfast she provided was delicious and everything was super fresh. We really enjoyed our time at Casa Das Obras and will definitely recommend to friends!

We were not aware that Casa das Obras was a 250 year old manor house. It has been sympathetically renovated with beautiful rooms, all with ensuite bathrooms. It has impressive reception areas, and multiple cosy rooms for relaxing. It was centrally heated and spotlessly clean. A magnificent buffet breakfast was included. For warmer weather it has a lovely garden with a swimming pool. The host was on site to greet us, and available throughout our stay for anything we required. We would not hesitate to stay again.
