Friendly and helpful staff. Modern hotel with all the amenities. Comfortable bed and linens. Great breakfast buffet with plenty of fresh fruit. Nice balcony with good view. Short walk to restaurants, center and castle.

Room shape/configuration was not ideal so felt cramped. Finding hotel on arrival in rental car is not easy. Entry door which is 30-50 meters walk up from street is not seen from street. Suggest adding a sign that can be seen from the street and that the hotel notify guests in advance that if arriving by car they must park first. (Navigation system sent us up the restricted one way street past the hotel). Only three parking spaces for hotel guests, but was able to find paid parking on the street.

Everyone was extremely helpful, from arranging for parking as I was travelling with my mom who is over 80, to offering suggestions for dinner and more. We wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.

I booked this hotel because of the barrel bathtub mostly and overall decoration, as it was a very creative way to include the wine culture of the region. The decor met the expectations, it's exactly as in the pictures, if not better! The barrel tub was good, although I thought it had a hot jacuzzi system as well, but it didn't. It was still a cute and pleasant experience staying there. We loved the free welcome drink, which includes the region's Port Wine. There was a view to the Sanctuary of Nossa Senhor dos Remédios from the room and the restaurant, so the location was also a good point. Breakfast was good. We tried the restaurant for dinner and the staff was incredibly attentive and friendly! The same for the reception staff and even the owner who we had the chance to meet. A true example of the warmth and hospitality of the North of Portugal!

A bit pricey, both the room and the dinner menu in the restaurant. I guess we pay for the creativity as it was the cutest place I found in Lamego.The food in the restaurant is gourmet style but it was just okay, not impressive. I would repeat the hotel but not the restaurant as I would prefer to eat a good traditional meal outside with a house wine for half of that price.

We loved everything about it... in this order The staff: Kind, helpful & true customer oriented. Our gratitude to all of them Specially Mr. Nuno in the front desk, Mr. José in the restaurant, the kind ladies in the room service and last but not least the Mrs. Inés the owner who did everything to make the best of our stay. The Restaurant The menu, the cuisine & the service. The Room. We were upgraded to a suite with a beautiful view over the city and one of the main attractions "Santuário de Nossa Senhora dos Remédios" The location: Nearby everything! very central. A side note: The swiming pool is not big nor deep. For us it didn't matter because we were not looking for it and was perfect for our 6yrs old.

the staff : All the staff are a credit to the hotel but two in particular: Ninu on reception was amazing and at the best freshly prepared breakfasts that I have had in more than a few years: Deborah at breakfast was also very helpful-Great advice and she makes the best Cappuccino in a glass that I have ever had. It should be named after her. I loved the clean rooms / all hotels should should have your guest room service.

The Castle Douro is certainly the best hotel in Lamego. We were travelling by car as part of our Duoro Valley road trip and stayed here for 2 nights. Everything about the hotel is top class. It has only has 25 rooms so book early to make sure you get their special treatment. We had two beautiful rooms overlooking the town of Lamego. In the late afternoon we were sit on the balcony and take in the stunning views. Rooms were beautifully appointed with air conditioning. The hotel has the restaurant on the top floor with bar and swimming pool. We ate in the hotel one night and the food was excellent. Breakfast was equally tempting with a wide choice of food. Finally, the staff were very friendly from Nano on reception when we arrived to Debora in the restaurant. Top marks all round.

We liked everything about the hotel and would say they don't have on site parking. However, there are reserved parking spots outside the hotel which we used.

Staff were wonderful, very comfortable and peaceful place. Food excellent and rooms tastefully decorated, comfortable beds and pillows. Light, happy and welcoming atmosphere. Owner was around adding to the personal vibe Right in centre of the old town. The roof top pool is small but there is plans to extend it. I would look forward to staying here again. A home from home.

Great selection at breakfast, perhaps a little slow if a cooked breakfast requested, but otherwise excellent. Amazing bedroom, not expecting the Japanese style "onsen" in the room. Great balcony and view.

Not a lot! Slightly challenging to find, and (free) parking limited to only 3 cars but it was never a problem to park and its not expensive.

The staff was amazing. So poilte and helpful. Whenever we needed anything they got it in a heartbeat. Our room was amazing too. Not to mention the cleaning. We would leave and be gone for about an hour and come back to a clean room. Located in such a cute neighborhood and close to the centre. The pool is small but perfect. Breakfast was important to us as I had four teenagers with me who eat alot and the breakfast was amazing! There was so much to choose between. Do not hestitate, do not look any further, book this hotel!

The location is great and the premises are beautiful and brand new! However, it was the attention we received from the staff and specially from the owners that made our stay really special!!!! Inez is a great hostess and made us feel at home! she managed to maintain a high level of professionalism while keeping a cozy and family-type environment. And please, don’t leave without going to their restaurant, where the chef pulls out tasty and beautifully designed dishes. You will see that in the breakfast as well!!!! The lounge bar is also very beautiful and finely decorated

Parking was not available due to refurbishments and acoustic isolation in the rooms could be better (specially in the morning, when employees start working)
