Breakfast was relatively simple compare to other 5 star properties in Portugal but the staff made up for it. They were friendly and accommodating.

The location is good. The hotel is nice and has some history. What makes this hotel a 5 star hotel is not so much the amenities because they are weak in some areas, like housekeeping’s response time to issues, but the Manager Bruno Miguel, who went out of his way to make sure that our stay was a memorable one. The breakfast was plentiful and good. The breakfast staff was very accommodating and pleasant.

* Very nice, large and comfy room. * Large and comfy bathroom with a shower and a bathtub. * Excellent location at the shore of the estuary, close to two metro stations and a railway station, a short walk away from the historic center of the city. * Nice, helpful and accommodating staff.

* There was really no proper hotel bar and no restaurant serving a la carte menu throughout the day. I would really expect that from a five star hotel. Not a big deal since there were a lot of restaurants around. * Breakfast was really a four star hotel standard. It wasn't bad. But also not great. Very few vegan options. * Light switches in the room are very confusing and it took a lot of trial-and-error to switch on or off the lamps.

Location was great. Room was comfortable, clean and all you could ask for in a city centre.

The pool was €25 per person for 45mins. This was not clear when booking and a real disappointment

Lack of restaurant for lunch or dinner

Breakfast choice. Location. Comfort.

I chose this hotel as it said spa included so to be told it was 24 euros extra just to have a swim was not good. Your own website said pool free for guests in the evening and yet reception staff tried to make us pay. Website regarding spa needs to be updated and made clear. There was no option for me to tick spa when I booked online.

This is the third year in a row that I visit this hotel.. It is clean, the staff is really friendly, breakfast is excellent but last two years was a bit more various. Which is not a big deal as it is really nice breakfast. Also last two years I did get two complementary bottles every day but they changed the policy now. But after telling that to the staff, they proceed giving me two complementary bottles every day and as a gift a bottle of champagne and a plate of fruits! So nice of them! Position is great for exploring the city. I'll be coming again for sure.

The staff were very helpful, polite and warm. The hotel's standards of cleanliness was high and facilities were regularly and generously restocked.

Booking.com advertised the booking as including an airport pick-up and even sent an email (see photos) details about this pick up (who would be the driver and where to find them) prior to my arrival. However there was no driver to pick me. The hotel staff knew nothing about this arrangement.

The lady at the front desk was lovely! The staff were all very friendly and professional but Catarina was extra. We stayed with a 6 month old baby who was very popular with the staff and she was looked after so nicely! Very welcoming which is a relief when travelling with babies. Spa was small but all I needed as a break for 45 mins and wish I could have stayed longer/used more as it was very nice.

As the main restaurant was closed for our stay, we were recommended a restaurant when we first arrived that has to be one of the worst tourist traps nearby. After eating there we saw it was only rated 3.8 on Google so we were really disappointed the guy on the desk thought this suited us considering it's a 5* hotel. The light switches were also infuriating. They needed a combination to turn things off or on, or hold down for a few seconds. Just odd but not hugely detracting.

The hotel was fantastic! The staff was hands down the friendliest, most helpful, and amazing team we’ve ever encountered at a hotel. The location was perfect—everything was within walking distance, and the metro was conveniently close. Ubers and tour companies had no trouble finding or accessing the hotel. Our room was the perfect size, and we even had a view of the cruise ship ports. Upon check-in, we were greeted with champagne, and when we had some time before leaving, the staff went out of their way to make us drinks. Overall, the experience was AMAZING, and we would absolutely stay here again!

The breakfast wasn’t my favorite

The Aurea Museum was certainly a positive experience in many ways. However, I would like to offer some constructive feedback to the property managers to help make the services even more impeccable. Reception - Rating: 10: The personnel are extremely competent and polite. Simply impeccable. Room and Housekeeping - Rating: 9: The room is spacious and nice. However, the balcony had some damage, and the outdoor furniture was not on par with the indoor furnishings. Extremely clean—great job, housekeeping. Room Service - Rating: 8: The food was good, but delivery to the room was not timely. Nevertheless, the staff were extremely kind. It's possible that the crew was short-staffed, which may have caused these issues. Gym - Rating: 5: The gym is poorly equipped and often dirty, and the collateral services like water, towels, and other items were rarely set up. This is not up to the hotel's standard. Overall, I would rate the hotel an 8. However, it has great potential for improvement.

While my experience at the Aurea Museum was generally positive, there are a few areas where improvements could enhance the overall guest experience. Addressing the minor damages and upgrading the outdoor furniture on the balcony would complement the high standards of the indoor space. Improving the timeliness of room service delivery could greatly enhance guest satisfaction, perhaps by ensuring adequate staffing levels. Lastly, upgrading the gym facilities and maintaining cleanliness, along with ensuring that basic amenities like water and towels are always available, would align this service with the hotel's otherwise high standards. I believe these adjustments could significantly elevate the overall guest experience.
