The reception was so friendly ( thank you Joana and Maria) and even helped us carry our bags to the next street where the hotel is located. The reception is where the breakfast is and also a bar at night, with interesting drink menu. The fellow who tends the bar was very friendly and helpful. (Sorry I don't remember you name 😟) If you need any help picking a tour, finding things to do, or a restaurant recommendation, Pedro is there to help with anything you need. He can arrange a Fado evening, Tuk Tuk tour or boat cruise, and is happy to help. The room is charming, and seemed spacious, with a large window that looked out onto the street. It was quiet when you closed the shutters. Fluffy towels, a good shower. Clean. Comfortable bed. Great location close to restarants, the ocean and trendy cafes. Breakfast had everything you need. I would chose this hotel again if I returned to Lisbon.
Note: a bit of a hill to get to the hotel and two flights of stairs, only an issue if you have mobility issues. -You have to go out the hotel to reception for breakfast. -It is about 30 minutes from the airport.

The room was absolutely beautiful, spacious and nicely decorated with a bright balcony window. The beds were large and comfortable and the window shutter blocked out the light well. Good air-conditioning kept the room cool and we slept really well. The bathroom and other facilities were perfect, hot water with good pressure and lots of space to hang and store clothes and other items. The small fridge was useful and a decent breakfast and coffee are included. The location of the hotel was excellent, very easy for walking to many sites and also easy to get taxis and transport as it was near the main road. The street on which the hotel is located has many nice bars and restaurants, the TimeOut market is two minutes away and other areas, such as Bairro Alto and Alfama are within short walking distance. There was even a lovely little craft beer place with a terrace by the door of the hotel where you could sit in the sun and enjoy a drink. On top of all this the staff and concierge service are friendly and there to help you plan your visit if you need. Highly recommend this hotel.
On one evening, I could really hear the room next door, so if you were next to loud guests, it might be a problem, but luckily we were not!

The location was excellent, close to many major attractions such as the Ascencor da Bica. The room was spacious, comfortable and very clean. The handwash and shower gel provided were amazing! The staff were very friendly and super helpful. Breakfast was very good. I would highly recommend.
The information provided on Booking.com led us to believe that there was parking available on site. This is not the case. There is the possibility of finding parking, but it is not necessarily cheap. There are many narrow steps within the house. This was not too much of a problem for us, but it may be for some people. Other than this, this accommodation was fabulous.

Good location, easy to access with a car with public paid garage parking 2 blocks away. Walking distance to Time Out Market, Pink St. and other attractions. Bed was comfortable and the room was decent sized.
Of all the places we stayed in Portugal, this definitely felt like the least "frills". Very few toiletries provided, check-in process was easy enough but required multiple steps. The room shown in photos was clearly one of their nicer ones, the one we received did not have a balcony and was pretty basic. More hostel vibes than bed and breakfast vibes, which wasn't bad just not quite what we expected. You can hear the music from bars around at night, but thankfully it didn't bother us our our sleep. Good overall stay but would probably try somewhere else on our next visit to Lisbon.

Even though we had room facing the main busy street, the windows were perfect noise insulator. Also the room was very bright and very very clean. Hot water run without problem. The location is perfect as your are in the second line of the river, so there's possibility to go by foot everywhere. A lot of restaurants & bars are nearby. Train & tram station is around 100m. Breakfast for a boutique hotel, I believe was fine.
The bathroom is very small. Being with a room for 3 adults, it was just too small. This kind of bathroom you can hardly turn. This was very uncomfortable. Maybe to mention that the room doors are not noise isolator so maybe not very recomended to go with kids.

EVERYTHING about Casa do Mercado will entice you to come back. The breakfast offered good variety, the rooms are quite nice, the staff is exceptional ( special note to Pedro, Maria, and Manuel ), and the location perfect. The ascensor to Barrio Alta is just outside your door, the Time Out Market is a very short walk and the Commercial Square a pleasant walk. You will get excellent suggestions from the staff for sites, restaurants, Fado venues, etc. This wa my second time at Casado Mercado and I will return
Having to walk around the building to get to the breakfast in the reception area is a MINOR inconvenience and hardly worth complaining about

Warm recommendations for this place!!! The room is quite spacious, and the bed is comfortable, so it provides great rest! We were welcomed warmly and could leave the luggage with them before the check-in, as we were early, which worked well. The location is also cool - relatively close to the city center (some 15min on foot) and the metro/tram/train/bus station is only a few min away. There are several nice cafes and restaurants in the vicinity which is a plus. I really appreciated the self-check in option and the key box with the code!
The service during breakfast could be more efficient - if you are lucky to arrive first and have many options available - great! If not, you'd have to wait a while till the lady stocks up (especially on cheese, ham and pancakes, croissants and bread rolls). It seemed she was more occupied with coffee filters no one was using than food everyone actually wanted. Also it only lasts from 8 till 10, and with all the waiting, it could happen that you spend 2h there... The rooms are in an older building, meaning there are lots of (narrow) stairs, so there is a chance you'd have to go up/down a few times. This didn't bother us at all, just a note to those who might mind it.

Love the room and how central it is and the staff were absolutely amazing! Mariana and Maria were so welcoming even before we arrived and offered to help with any leisure activity suggestions, early checkout and arranging an airport shuttle for us!
I would say the only downside would be if you need absolute quiet. This place is situated in an area with a busy nightlife so noise can be a factor. It's also an old building and hearing footsteps is common. We weren't really bothered by all this but for some it might be a big issue.

The room was very comfortable, clean, quiet and spacious. We enjoyed spending time with Pedro who was very helpful in organizing sight-seeing trips for us. A highlight of the trip was spending time in the new Cocktail Bar at the hotel with owner/bartender Jose Marie Robertson. The bar/lounge was lovely.
I did not realize that we could not access the breakfast area within the building. We could only access by walking outside and entering from a parallel street. It rained a lot on our trip and this was not convenient. I would have preferred to stay in an accommodation that had 24 hour staff on site. This was our only disappointment. The staff and the room were wonderful.

Really convenient location, the room was super clean, the beds comfortable and the breakfast was excellent. Maria and Pedro are very friendly and a special thank you to them for providing gluten free rolls for breakfast even though we were only staying the one night and hadn’t given them advance requests for gluten free. It was very much appreciated. Pedro was a font of information and overall we felt very welcome
The noise made by guests moving around and flushing toilets in the upstairs and adjoining rooms very late at night and in the very early hours
