By far, the street level service of the front desk and wait staff made the experience! Friendly, fun and informative staff. I loved the room size and automatic room darkening shades. Originally I thought I would share the room with my sister, but glad we had separated into two rooms because the bed was set up to be entered from only one side which is a little trickier for seniors. The rooms are so affordable, I'd recommend not trying to squeeze into one room. The elevator never took too long, even though there was only one. I had read somewhere that the streets could be noisy but I did not find this to be the case at all. It was an easy walk to two metro stations, the bus and trolly lines and restaurants, museums and night-life. I was forgetful one day when we rushed out the door and left euro notes out near the coffee supply in the room and it was undisturbed at day's end, which of course gives you a good feeling about a place.

The TV entertainment seemed very limited...ok didn't go to Lisbon for it, but each night the choices were very limited and the signal often failed. The liked the furniture's modern vibe, but being older didn't love how low to the ground the bed was or having to step high up without anything to hold onto to walk over to the window.

Breakfast was wonderful. Location was fabulous. Right near transportation center, many restaurants and Time Out Market. But the highlight was the staff. Everyone was extremely friendly and helpful with a shout out to Anna, Paola, and Gui. And all the breakfast staff. Will definitely be returning.

The rooms are definitely different. The beds are in a block type form. To be able to lower the window shade, I had to lay across the bed to reach the device that lowers the shade. It would be better if it were placed at the left of the headboard. Also the step down to the bathroom Is sometimes a hazard at night when it is dark. Also it would be nice to have a small chair to sit in. These are not complaints but as a senior citizen would be appreciated.

Reasonable upgrade offered at check-in but no pressure to upgrade. Clean comfortable beds. Great water pressure in the large shower. Fluffy towels. Fantastic smelling liquid soap. Refrigerator in the room. Appreciate the water bottles in the room. Lovely Scandinavian inspired design. Super friendly staff at the front desk and in the breakfast cafe. Delicious breakfast and coffee. Roomy elevator. Location is great as you're right across the street from a funicular and there is reasonable underground parking at the Time Out Market. You can pull your car up front (across the street) to unload.

I'm struggling to find any faults. As we had a rental car, a parking discount might be nice.

The room is so cute! I liked having a balcony room. They offer room service for a fee. There’s an elevator. Note that the check in desk is basically in the restaurant of the hotel. Strong WiFi so I could work remote. The breakfast is amazing. They have buffet style, but then you also get a selection of one main food from a menu.

This wasn’t anything I necessarily disliked, but laundry was expensive, so I went to a place that was a 3 minute walking distance from the hotel and they wash a full load of laundry for €10! It was a great deal.

The location is one of the best, close to so many points of interest and not even a 5-minute walk to the Cais do Sodre metro and other bus stops. The hotel has great attention to detail, very stylish. So is the room, although unfortunately we found it a tad too small for three people. It's fine if you plan to be 90% of the time out in the city. We were very pleased to know that all drinks and snacks in and out of the room fridge were free of charge. The breakfast buffet was also great, the only downside was the somewhat slow service for the drinks (sometimes we waited as long as 20 minutes for two cappuccinos).

The room size (too small) and the lack of hooks/coat racks. Unfortunately, we happened to be there during 2 days of heavy rain and had no chance to hang our wet clothes/jackets anywhere, as the room lacked any sort of hooks or coat racks. We had the same problem with wet towels.

We loved our stay at Independente Bica, and I would absolutely love to visit again. The bedroom was small but comfortable, and I loved how the bar/restaurant area was decorated so much that I want to recreate it in my own house. The staff were friendly and the breakfast was great. The location is fantastic. Close to a main train station so easy to get to and from the airport, but we walked pretty much everywhere during our stay. Even though we visited several areas of the city, many of our favourite bars and restaurants were just a few minutes walk from the hotel. I'd recommend Cosmo, just further along the street, for a special dinner or a nice cocktail.

The hotel was in an amazing location to explore Lisbon and was surrounded by many nice bars and restaurants. The hotel itself and the dining area is very pretty and aesthetic. The room was beautiful with a pretty balcony and an extremely comfortable bed. It could be a bit louder at night due to the bars and restaurants but the windows are sealed well so personally it didn’t bother me at all. If someone is more sensitive there were earplugs in the room which was great. The minibar was included in the price which was amazing as well. I really loved the breakfast which contained an all you can eat buffet plus an additional dish you could choose from the menu card and an extra hot drink daily. The staff was extremely friendly and welcoming. I felt very safe and comfortable. I will definitely come back. Thanks for an amazing stay!

A bit more space in the bathroom to store cosmetics or toiletries would be nice

The staff are super helpful and friendly. They even added a little personal touch to our little one who lost her milk tooth during our stay there by secretly sending her a certificate and letter along with a bag of sweet from the tooth fairy! Our girl was over the moon when she saw them under her pillow the next morning! Our family room looks cool and clean. The breakfast served fresh to order and delicious too! The location of the hotel is very convenient too. Getting spoilt for choice of places to eat and easy access to public transport. The train station is only a few minutes walk away, and the trains are running frequently, and can take you to Belem and Cascais. Very easy.

The chef was awesome and a very big thank you to the Manager of the hotel, Vinny, Anna, Sergio, Bauloo and their was a young lady working at reception with Anna that helped my parents plan my birthday dinner I didn’t get a chance to get her name but all of the staff were so amazing and very accommodating. They always went the extra mile to help us and made sure that we were well taken care of. We shared a lot of laughter and great conversations. My family loved every moment there. Thank you for giving us a wonderful time in Portugal. Definitely coming back again
