The neighbourhood was really nice, above expectations. We had a stroll in every direction every evening, and discovered a beautiful park near a library, a concert hall, an ex-bullring, and many pretty buildings and streets. Plus, from our room we could see blossoming tulip trees. A lot of good eateries within 5 minutes on foot.
Their breakfast is really basic, but that is compensated by two things: it is cheap (5 euros per person), and it is optional (so you can only have it on your first or last day when in hurry).

The stay was excellent and it was value for money. The rooms were pretty neat and were cleaned everyday by the hotel staff. Good breakfast options as well. The hotel is located in a very good area and there are a lot of restaurants and mall around it. It is also pretty close to the metro (Sao sebastiao) and the Train station (entrecampos). All of them are within 5 - 10 mins walk. The staff were extremely friendly. I talked a lot with the two women at the reception who were extremely friendly and gave great suggestions of places to visit and how to do them. I would recommend this hotel definitely.
Everything was great but the shower cabinet can be a little bigger than it was in the room I stayed. That was the only thing as it was too small.

Continental breakfast was good and contained all the choices we would expect for that type of breakfast. The en-suite bedroom was small but comfortable, clean and adequate. The location is good - a quiet area of the city, but only 2 minutes walk to the bus stop, 5 minutes to the underground and 10 minutes to the railway station to Sintra. The staff were very pleasant and helpful. There is a Lidl supermarket across the road for buying daily essentials like bottled water. Reasonable restaurants within a one minute walk if needed. Gulbenkian park and museum within 3 minutes walk.
As British people we like a cup of tea in bed in the morning. Most British hotels offer a facility of in-room kettle, milk, tea and coffee sachets. This wasn't provided, but often isn't in hotels in Europe, so it didn't come as a surprise.

I stayed here for two stints during a two week holiday in Lisbon. The hotel is not far away from Metro stations and one of Lisbon's main train station, but also close to public parks, little restaurants/cafes, shops. It is situated on a side road, so the road traffic noise is not an issue. Both rooms were pretty large for a solo traveller, in one room the plugs were hidden below the bed, but once I found that out, then 5 plugs are more than sufficient. Unlike in other hotels it is also possible to open the window to let some fresh air in.

The room was clean and was cleaned by the friendly staff each day. The size was great for one single person and had enough closet and packing space. I was also allowed to leave my bags at reception for a few hours before my departure from Lisbon.
The only thing I did not like, and it's quite minor, is the size of the actual shower. I am not tall (at all), 1.71m, and average build but found the shower quite tight for my frame. Other than that, the bathroom was good.

Breakfast was simple but ok. Distance from turistic locations was ok, by Uber or Bolt it's been cheap to reach it. Public transport not so far anyway. Loved how welcoming and helpfull was the staff, that is for me the most imporant thing when staying somewhere
I suggest to change the shower facet, too big in tha size of shower and you would hit it while moving. The other thing, turned on the water in the shower, went to the bedroom, heard a sound and when I went back I've found that the shower head moved up with the water pressure and it was raining all around the bathroom.

The room was no-frills and small, so it wasn’t a luxurious stay, but the facilities were clean and it was the perfect place to stay when you wouldn’t be spending much time at the hotel. The WiFi worked well. Staff were helpful and courteous. The bed was a small twin but firm enough where it was comfortable for me. Extra blankets were available. The shower water temperatures were good. Conveniently close to the metro, stores, delicious restaurants, parks, museums, the university, bus stops, and protected bike paths!
There were some minor issues based on one’s preference. My room had a window but not much natural light. The TV also gave off a blue light when it was off (from a small button), so I was glad I had an eye mask on me. It also felt small for me (a petite woman), but I was comfortable and happy my entire stay.

I loved the location of Hotel Italia! You definitely have to use the Metro or HoHo Bus to access most attractions & the city center but that's why I loved the location, that and it's super close to Jardim Calouste Gulbenkian. The Hotel is surrounded by places to eat, there's a grocery store across the street and Metro Sao Sebastiao.
The hotel isn't as bright and cheery as the photos would have you believe.

we needed place to sleep the night before our flight, close to the metro. hotel Italia fit the bill, it was within a few hundred meters from a station on avenida da Republica, one metro ride from the airport. the people at the reception were very welcoming as we arrived quite late at night.
nothing was problematic.
