Mainly the staff who were the kindest, friendliest people we've ever met in a hostel. Very chill, always available, always smiling. The location was perfect: quiet, central and well connected. The property itself was beautiful too: lovely bare floor boards, clean, spacious, stylish decor throughout, highly organised kitchen/cooking/breakfast regimen, beautiful rooms (we had a private room with direct access to the terrace, and, of course, the terrace itself (the terrace being, for us, the most crucial element – it was clean, spacious, beautifully appointed and with the best view we've ever come across in a city centre hostel), well thought-out bathroom facilities despite being communal and well... I could go on for a while :)
Everything was fabulous

The view from the terrace was great and the rooms were spacious and included small lockers (with their own lock and key, no padlock needed) for our things. I don't know if my timing was just lucky, but the hostel was also exceptionally quiet. No partying or loud noises. You can also ask the staff to wash your things for a small fee (I think it was four euros) and if you wash things yourself/need to dry your towel etc, there is some drying space outside (huge plus for me). Finally, I very much appreciated that a couple of days before you arrive, they sent an email with detailed instructions of how to get there with minimum walking effort (the hostel is up the hill and google maps doesn't give you the best solution).

I stayed in this hostel for two weeks. I felt like it was a family. The spaces are small, but this makes the atmosphere more intimate and facilitates communication without forcing it. All the staff members that I met during these two weeks were amazing: Anastasia, Camillo, Flavio, Leon, Sebastian, and last but not least, Tanya. They all contributed to making me feel at home and comfortable. Hope to come back and meet them again! ps The terrace is a gem.
Due to space constraints, not highly recommended for remote workers who plan to work in part from there.

I totally liked everything about here. It won my heart with its location, facilities, magnificent terrace, breakfast facilities, cleanliness, comfort of the beds and especially its employees. It's a very friendly atmosphere, you can meet other people staying at the hotel and go out in the evening. Everyone was so sweet. It is also very close to amazing places where you can go to watch the sunset. Since transportation throughout the city is provided by walking, you can reach anywhere you want in 20-40 minutes by walking from here. I met four employees in three days and they were all very friendly, cheerful, fun and helpful. Thank you very much everyone. Hope to see you again..
Nothing.

This is my second visit to this hostel in Lisbon. I selected this hostel due that I knew already how to get there and what the area looks like. So, I arrived via metro to the Martim Moniz metro station and from there took me about 5-7 minutes to walk to the hostel. The hotel staff opened the door for me and informed me about the deposit for the key (5 euro - returned at the check out) and for the city tax and after that showed me the room. Due that I was staying only for one night, I took the 8 person room. The beds were separated in two rooms, so there were like two 4-person rooms. You can add your staff under the bed, in which is the storage. The bed was nice and comfortable, with access to the plug. Close to my room where the toilets separated men and women. The hostel also has the possibility to storage your luggage during the check out in case that you have time until your next trip.

We have got a private room with direct access to balcone and it was clean and comfortable. Most of the hostel staffs were very friendly and helpful. The location of the hostel was very good, close to Alfama and on top of a hill, require some walking but not an issue for us. Breakfast( €3 per person/ day) on the terrace with the city view was the best.
The situation of the female washroom…toilet doors without lock, shower doors without lock, only 2 sinks, very cramped when there were lots of fellow female travellers. I could make do with the condition for 2 nights but that made me hesitate to recommend the hostel for everyone.

Superb location, really helpful and friendly staff, great views from terrace. Option of breakfast with freshly made omelette, yummy. Daily recommendations for activities, washing machine available for a good price, nice clean kitchen with all appliances and free coffee/tea.
Not a lot of storage space (only small locker under bed) and one hanger per person. Bathrooms okay but did not seem cleaned very often. Loud buzzer noise heard throughout the hostel every time someone rings the bell.

The staff were really friendly and attentive, specially Camilo and Leo (I hope I remember the names correctly!) The balcony is amazing and the location too, the place was clean and tidy.
The mattress wasn't great and unfortunately there was a lot of noise coming from the building next door since they were doing some construction works, nothing to do with the hostel but a heads up would have been much appreciated. The walls are very thin and we could hear everything that was happening in the corridor and near dorms. The breakfast for 3 euros is great but didn't have many vegan options.

The rooftop terrace is beautiful and gives an amazing view! The vibe of the hostel is social but calm, not a party hostel but still easy to meet people. Breakfast is available for 3€, it was good. Staff is friendly, the kitchen was good. Women's bathroom had sanitary products available which I loved!
Depending from which metro station you come from it might me unsafe to walk there at night, I felt very uncomfortable as a women alone. I would advise to get out at rossio (not Martim moniz!) and walk to the hostel from top street "Costa do Castello". If you walk that street it felt safe. The beds do really squeak a lot. More than usual hostel beds. Bring earplugs. What I didn't like was the bathroom situation. One of the 2 woman's toilets door was not able to lock and you could close it all the way so people could see you through the gap :(

The kindness and openness of the staff was very sympathetic. The view from the room is wonderful. On the last day, after check-out, they put my bag in a lockable room until I left for the airport. :) It was my first solo trip and my first hostel stay, but overall I was positively disappointed.
In the shared kitchen, everyone writes their name on their own food in the fridge. I did this too, on a clearly visible surface. However, one of my puddings and half a package of salami disappeared from the fridge overnight. Not sure if this is the hostel's fault, it could be another guest. But this is really unexpected and disappointing.
