This is an extraordinary Hotel on a Palace built for one of Portugal last kings and it is by itself a masterpiece of architecture in the Manuelini style ( linked to Porugueses Sea Discoveries). Highly recommended for its historical value/ architecture.

The wifi is a shambles and not aceppatble at all on a 5 Star hotel . Did not work in the lounge where we were told it was working and several attempts to get it going all failed . To be sitting in a magnificent room full of history and enjoy a Cognac whilst reading the news on my IPad as my ideia of excellence which without wifi was totally ruined . Not acceptable, I say again on a 5 star hotel.

Great architecture and garden, great breakfast.

Overpriced dinner but no other alternatives nearby. Would not recommend to go to restaurant in evening.

We were given a free upgrade which was nice, so we had a little lounge area with a TV, rooms had some really nice touches everything was beautiful. Breakfast was ok, so was the restaurant. Really the main reason to go is feel like a princess in a beautiful palace and it delivered.

It really is a beautiful space the one thing that was a bit hard to stomach was the wine served at the hotel restaurant. My understanding is they have their own wine, however almost all bottles start at 150 euros, on top of the food which was just ok. You are better off skipping dinner here and heading into town Luso or Mealhada for Leitoes (town best known for their spit big). We ended up paying 45 euros for Mateus Rose which would normally be 5 euros at the store.

Great place to stay! Beautifully landscaped gardens seen from the windows Inside, azulejo murals and furnishings worthy of the palace's name The dining room is prestigious yet relaxing. A sofa space next to the dining room. Attentive and courteous service The rooms are well-maintained, clean, and elegant. The view of the garden in the morning mist when you wake up is too wonderful for words.

Can't get the gazpacho. Other than that, the rest of the food was great. Except for the gazpacho, the soups were good. For those of us with small appetites, the child size of 40€ was enough!

It is a grand old hotel filled with history and mystique. It still preserves some of the aurae of its original owner, one of the last kings of Portugal. The grand rooms downstairs are beautiful and could be in a Downton Abbey episode. The grand hotel does need renovation, love and dedication from its owners. The current furniture is from the 80s and my bed was from that or later decade.

The hotel should showcase the local products and gastronomy, plus have highly trained hospitality employees. The restaurant misses a regional connection, a named chef, and an ever-changing menu. Both the food for dinner and breakfast was good but not extraordinary. The rooms need more up-to-date furniture (I haven't slept in a 140x200 bed with my husband) and downstairs. The staff are clearly dedicated to the hotel and have been there for many decades, but they miss new expertly trained new blood.

One of the most beautiful buildings I've ever been in. Our bedrooms were delightfully furnished, and our beds comfortable. Breakfast in the dining room is included and is outstanding. Dinner was expensive by Portuguese standards but in part, you're paying to spend time in a glorious room. The waitstaff at dinner were superb. We LOVED hiking the trails in the Bussaco Forest, surrounding the palace. It was a nice change from visiting cities and villages, just to be able to be in nature for a day.

-- We were unable to get any wifi. The hotel had it, but this rural area of Portugal just doesn't have great coverage/signal strength. -- A very, very loose towel bar in my bathroom fell off and hit my foot. Housekeeping should have spotted this problem when they put the towels on the bar. -- The hair dryer that the hotel provided was fairly worthless. -- Luso is a small town and restaurant choices are limited. All of that said, I would stay at the palace again in a heartbeat.

To say the place is stunning is an understatement. It is really something else. My only regret was that we were there for just one night. I found the staff to be extremely friendly and very helpful, including helping us to move to a different room from the original. The building is simply stunning. The food in the restaurant, I would give maybe a 7 out of 10, but the location is a 9. The breakfast was really comprehensive, great value.

Great value and a 5 star property! Stay in a palace and have a breakfast fit for a king! We ate dinner there as well and had fantastic service.

Superior room is spacious. Bathroom has heated tiles and was larger than our hotel in Lisbon! Balcony overlooking Forrest was beautiful. take a walk in the gardens and trails around the property. Ana at front desk was very kind and helpful. Eduardo In restaurant gave great wine recommendations. we were celebrating our anniversary and they sent us a bottle of champagne. A historical gem!

It is a palace built in the late 19 century. Amazing palace. A beautiful forest surrounds the palace, where you can walk for hours. Great breakfast in a beautiful dining hall. A one night stay is an amazing experience.

There is no wifi in the rooms. I was told there is wifi in the lobby. In our room, the window was a large door to an amazing shared terrace. It's beautiful, but if you want fresh air - your door is opened to a shared terrace. Everything is made of old wood. It's beautiful but it creaks.

historical and authentic building, music during the dinner, restaurant food

breakfast experience was 7 out of 10. Even in COVID times other hotels find a way how safely enjoy breakfast, here was a shortage of staff despite the hotel was fully booked. endless waiting for attention from waiters, poor food presentation - not good enough for 5 star hotel. please do something about coffee - very sad to start day with that drink you offer at the breakfast. in general, restaurant food is deliciuos, compliments to the chef! dinner was great, only waiter was too tired to answer the questions about desserts… during the check out - no one asked about the stay, no wonder service is at this level. maintenance team should do their job more accurate - shower needs to be fixed.
