Flexible and supportive in restaurant and breakfast room to food intolerances

the 2nd cut of the grass on the golfcourse was so high that you would lose your ball which is not normal for a 2nd cut.

The hotel itself is beautiful with the most friendliest members of staff. Everyone goes above and beyond the expectation to help you with requests. We can’t thank the staff enough, especially Pedro and another gentleman whose name I didn’t catch at the reception. The restaurants within the hotel also serve delicious and fresh food every single day so is a must for guests to try.

I wish there were easier forms of transport in the entire Alvor/Portimao region as we constantly struggled to get taxis to get from place to place. Of course this isn’t the hotels fault but do be aware as they are small towns with limited taxi drivers. I would recommend this hotel to anyone who wishes to relax and enjoy the facilities provided by the hotel itself which were phenomenal!

The location … the hotel is surrounded by trees and a golf course. Very beautiful and peaceful The staff … very friendly and professional The large spaces … a hotel built in the sixties with large rooms, large corridors, lots of space for dinjng inside and outside. The food … excelent in all 3 restaurants. The large swimming pool … good for swimming

I liked everything

I have been to the Penina numerous times over the last 30 years. In all honesty , the hotel is a little “ tired “in terms of decor, and COVID means that some of the dining facilities were more restricted than I have previously experienced. That apart, the staff, cleanliness, and pool and location are still first class , particularly the staff , who are without exception lovely. A lot of them have been there a long time and it shows. Breakfast is still as good as ever, my room ( I was by myself this time ) overlooked the pool and was very comfortable, and housekeeping could teach a few other hotels a few things. Overall excellent

The public areas are tired, and could do with an injection of modernisation.

We have stayed at Penina for several years. A few familiar staff still remain. The new staff need training properly including reception and the buffet breakfast. The hotel is in need of renovation especially the outside where there is missing render. The swimming pool needs to be retiled. Public areas need to be refurbished especially the bar, reception decor and furnishings…..

It’s a nice holiday hotel with friendly staff. Their breakfast has many varieties. It’s next to the bus stop to Lagos and Alvor, so easy to get a bus from there. I liked their balcony as well.

The air conditioner was too cold in the night to me. Good that they had an extra duvet so I grabbed them at night. They seemed not have a kettle so we couldn’t make a tea. I was drinking decaffeinates coffee instead.

breakfast and dinner in the italian rest. was fabulous. the room was clean and comfortable but needs updating. the pool was great and the staff made us feel very welcome.

As it was a specieal anniversary dinner the only trouble we had was some very noisey children sitting nearby that spoilt our evening.

A lovely mixture of Portuguese and British elegance. Unashamedly traditional which helps create a great atmosphere to relax in. The pool is huge with lots of available beds. The beach club with free beds & towels is a bonus. Rooms are of a good size and spotlessly clean. Well attended by caring staff. A wonderful 9 night stay which included 3 rounds of golf on the challenging Henry Cotton Championship course.

The gym is unwelcoming as it has no windows . The front of the hotel os in need of some care.

old world charm, the staff, wildlife (for bird watchers an excellent hotel) saw a Hoopoe for the first time, no chance of seeing one in the UK these days.

the resort course needs to be tidied up, appreciate there has been a drought but no excuse for poor signage or tatty look
