Localization of this hotel couldn’t be better - it’s next door to St Bento train station and 5 minutes walk to Douro river and St Louis bridge. It’s close to many other attractions and restaurants. We also loved the character of the property - beautiful old tile art, stained glass, gorgeous restaurant with nice authentic features, unusual internal loggias where you could look up all three stairs right to the very top with glass roof, as well as the exterior of the hotel with nice authentic tiling and windows.

Our room had a very small window with no view - we could only see the roofs of the buildings behind the hotel. The room was therefore very dark. Our stay would be complete in a lovely room with big windows.

My room was very nice and was the only room with a balcony. Even though the hotel was full, it was quiet. My air conditioner control was broken. They gave me a new one from the reception and when it didn't work, they replaced it immediately. The sink in my room was clogged, I reported this to the reception and went for a walk. When I returned, the bathroom was spotless and the problem was solved, my air conditioner was working. It is a hotel rule to leave the room key at the reception when leaving the hotel. Thus, they ensure security. No matter what time you arrived, at night or early in the morning, there was always someone at the reception to give you your room key. The security of the hotel entrance is tighter for late night check-ins, which allows you to stay safely in a very central hotel in a very touristic place. breakfast was very diverse and delicious. Products were constantly being replenished.

Since my current problems were solved very quickly and cleaning was done every day, I did not encounter any problems that would make me uneasy or unhappy.

Localisaton - close to everythig. Very good value for money. Clean. Nice Portugal tiles. Good breakfast. Comfortable bed except of pillows overstuffed with strange stuffing. Taxis were kindly called by the reception and have always arrived quickly. We can highly recommend this hotel.

We had a "superior lux room". This name was certainly an exageration, but the room was very satisfactory nevertheless and the value for money was was good. There was no towel hangers in the bathroom. There were no eggs for breakfast, but the variety of other food was ok. That is still better than scrambled eggs made of industrial egg powder served in most other hotels around Europe.

The hotel let our cycling group of 8 people leave 5 suitcases for 6 days whilst we cycled from Porto and Santiago. The hotel staff were very amicable. On our last day we needed to leave at 7:30am - the normal time for breakfast. I asked for us to have breakfast at 6:50 and was pleasantly surprised when they agreed and laid out a small breakfast.

I booked 5 rooms. Two of them were triple rooms which would have allowed the couples to sleep in separate beds. Only one of these rooms was a triple. The hotel said that this was all they had available but this room should have been pre-allocated. I was booking for 8 people through Booking.com. I missed the fact that Booking.com just allocated 1 person to one of the triple rooms meaning that just 7 people were booked in. We had to pay an extra 20 euros for the extra person though there would have been no change in price if two people were booked in the room.

The Peninsular is in a great location, a minute or so's walk from SĂŁo Bento station and the Porto Old Town area, which was our main criteria when booking. The room I had (214) was very clean and quiet with a comfortable bed - I had a really good night's sleep every night of our stay. The breakfast is filling and more than adequate with a reasonable range of 'continental' items. The reception staff were friendly and helpful.

Some aspects of the room were a bit tired - for example corrosion on the bathroom wall heater and toilet roll holder. The room was absolutely fine for sleeping in, which is all I wanted it for, but not necessarily somewhere to spend long periods during the day.

Absolutely stunning historical hotel, we loved everything: the ceiling in the middle of the hotel, the lobby with tiles, common rooms, the furniture and the architecture. It has real vintage vibe and tells stories of old times. The breakfast was good as well, and the breakfast room was lovely. I guess it’s the last survivor between souless chain hotels and boring predictable “boutique” hotels in the neighbourhood. Should be conserved and kept alive and running no matter what! We will be staying there again definitely.

The hotel is in the centre just in front of the train station and few minutes walk from the river and surrounded by shops and restaurants. Breakfast was good. The rooms were ok and clean (but we had a room with a window that faced internally to a broken building). The hotel building is old fashioned but nice. The staff was nice.

The location is great, very close to the Sao Bento train station, metro stations, and nice touristic sites. The building is beautiful and elegant in old style. The bed is very comfortable, the bathroom is big and with a bathtub. My room did not have air conditioning, but the fan was enough (though it was summer). The breakfast was also nice. I would stay there again.

The breakfast was simple but very good. The location was perfect, the hotel is located right in front of Sao Bento station and you can easily walk in every direction, every major visiting spot is at most at a 10 minutes walking distance. The room we stayed in wasn’t very modern (we would only stay in the room to sleep so we didn’t really care about that) but it was very clean and sanitazied. All staff members were welcoming and kind. We really enjoyed our stay and if I come back to Porto I would definitely book at this Hotel again!

Older style hotel in a fantastic location for getting around Porto, right near Sao Bento train and metro stations. The room was huge, and the bathroom was a good size. Breakfast was very good, with a variety of options. Staff were very helpful, including arranging an early breakfast for us on our last day when we were checking out early.

Our room looked over the street, and there was quite a lot of noise late at night - not the fault of the hotel, and to be expected so close to the station and bars/restaurants etc.
