Location was great as it by the waterside and walkable to main attractions like the key churches, São Bento station and Livaria Lello. Breakfast had a wide spread, with hot food made to order and even wine and cheese! Most of all the staff were fantastic, most helpful and friendly. Made us feel like we are a part of the family. We ate dinner at Rib restaurant with great food and they even gave a discount and free cocktails!

The air-conditioning/heater was difficult to control. Perhaps it was winter and the cold came in. Wished we had a room facing the river though. Perhaps next time.

I certainly recommend booking one of the river view rooms because that view from the balcony was rather special. You are literally just meters from the Duoro River flowering through Porto and luckily, there was minimal to no noise from the pedestrians below. You are also right next to shops (limited) and restaurants, but avoid the touristy restaurants which are open pretty much throughout the day. Get the hotel to book you a restaurant that opens after 6.30pm as that is where the locals go.

Breakfast, whilst having plenty of choices, was busy and tables are really squeezed into the rather limited space, so you are always bumping into fellow guests. Also, our room needed 2 separate lifts to get to, or you walk up one flight and then take the second lift. My key card didn't work with 1 day to go and took 3 visits up and down to reception to get the door battery replaced. But these were minor issues for the great view.

The room was right on the water with such a beautiful view of the Luis Bridge! The breakfast blew us out of the water; there was a full buffet with all kinds of fruits, an assortment of baked goods as well as eggs, bacon, sausages, so many desserts, and a whole separate Portuguese spread with Pastel de natas and fresh honeycomb, then go into the wine room for champagne and sliced meats and cheeses plus you can order omelets, waffles, and pancakes, amazing! The staff always went above and beyond to answer questions; they were all accommodating! It is a very convenient central Porto location, easy to walk around, even across the bridge to Gaia. Perfect place to stay in Porto!

The hotel is lovely and located in the very vibrant Ribeira neighbourhood. The river/city views from our room were splendid and the staff helpful and friendly. It’s easily one of the best hotels we’ve stayed at (so far)! The small gestures from the champagne chocolates in our room to celebrate our anniversary to the infant bath accessories to the delightful night service, all made for lovely additions. The service was exceptional and we felt very pampered. Our special thanks to Francisca who promptly arranged for our airport transfers and to the courteous and well mannered driver who waited patiently for at the airport with a handy infant car seat to hand. We really enjoyed our stay and can’t wait to be back.

We didn’t realise a number of the rooms had to be accessed by stairs which wasn’t helpful given we had a baby in a pram.

We had an incredible time in beautiful Porto. The hotel was spectacular and the staff was very corteous. Great memories.

We chose Pestana Vintage for their location in Porto. River front with excellent views of bridge and bodegas in Gaia. Our room in floor 4 had a vintage look of carpet and velvet sofa and chairs. It was decent size with king bed and modern bathroom. The best was the view through 3 glass doors to a juliet balcony. I would keep them open to listen to the harmonica or guitars from the street. Fast WiFi. Amazing breakfast buffet, even oporto and sparkling wine was included. We had a delicious lunch at Postigo do Carvao of Rice cooked with all kinds of seafood. Porto is a walking town, so we decided to park our Fiat 500 at riverfront Alfadega. We exchanged ticket for 3-day pass at €50. We took our overnight bags and walked 15 minutes along the river through shops and tiny restaurants to the hotel. I wished I could rate a perfect 10. However there were issues with dirty cups, balcony doors did not fully open and parking questions were never answered. Would I stay here again? probably yes. Location location location. Nov 2023

Staff couldn’t have been more helpful. Spotlessly clean. Breakfast buffet was good quality, well presented and a good selection available.

Location was VERY noisy. Right on the waterfront which was lovely but right in the middle of all the bars and street entertainers. Even with the windows shut at night still noisy from late night revellers, dust carts, delivery vans workmen etc etc.

The location is the best one in Porto--on the Ribeira. We started in a standard, average room with no view, but the hotel let us upgrade for extra charge to a room with breathtaking views of the Douro River and the Ribeira. The included breakfasts were abundant, but dominated by cakes and high carb foods; lots of choices including yogurt, fresh fruit, seeds, eggs and other good foods. The staff was professional, well organized and helpful.

The gym is really bad and wholly insufficient for a five star hotel. No pool. The lobby is small, cramped and unattractive. There can be a lot of noise and commotion and crowds right in front of the hotel, so the experience here is not one of tranquillity. No convenient parking.

Breakfast was excellent, location was superb, staff were excellent.

Room was low floor so a bit noisy late at night and early morning and AC was not great (but its an heritage hotel so to even get AC is probably a bonus!). One tip for people booking through booking.com is don't use booking.coms taxi service. It didn't show up and getting a reply out of Booking.com is disastrous. This has nothing to do with the hotel thought so book the hotel, just not through booking.com!
