We stayed in the SOFA room, which is very spacious with high ceilings and a mezzanine level. Overall, our experience was very positive, but there are a few things that could significantly enhance the stay:

The room has large floor-to-ceiling windows, which create a nice atmosphere, but even with the blinds closed, it felt like there was little privacy. We could see and hear maintenance staff working just outside the room. Proper curtains would help address this issue. Given that the room is on the ground floor and has such large windows, it would be very natural and welcome to have direct outdoor access — especially to enjoy breakfast outside. The shower in the bathroom could use an upgrade. It did not meet the standard or price level of the hotel. The handle of the sink faucet was broken. The safe in the room was locked upon arrival and could not be opened, even with the help of the front desk staff.

The building was amazing and some of the interior design was interesting.

For a wedding this would be fabulous but for staying overnight I was not as excited as I had anticipated. It had a shabby chic feel that could be great if more attention was made to the details. The shower kept getting stuck on red hot and the floor sill into the shower oozed black grunge! The bottle water left in the fridge was only sparkling no still. I was told I could have a GF breakfast option but the £50+ breakfast basket had no GF bread or pastries etc. The gardens required attention all the topiary was overgrown and looked tatty for such formal designs. Somewhat disappointing when it could be amazing.

Great historic chateaux right on the Rhein river. Our room (the Rhein Suite) was in a tower on the second floor, with a balcony overlooking the river (about 30 meters away). Sofa restaurant was adjacent to the building and had excellent food. The breakfast was brought to the room in a basket and was exceptional. The suite was very spacious, with a large bedroom, large sitting room with a kitchen island with pans and stove, and a massive bathroom.

Beautiful heritage property in semi-rural location. Luxe accomodation with complimentary mini bar - wine, beer, tea coffee. Royal suite room is huge and glamorous - beautiful views from many windows and a balcony - money well spent. Tower room upstairs was more basic.

No shops or attractions nearby other than cycling or looking at sheep but it would be a lovely romantic getaway for a night. 25-20 minute drive into Maastricht central - you need a car! Steep stairs to all rooms including Royal suite and apartment. If you have lots of luggage or mobility issues you would need to specify ground floor suite.

Good location not far from City-Center (it's 15 mins with a bike) I didn't know that a Castel near the Maas-River could be so romantic This is one of the best hotels in Maastricht, if not the best i've stayed.

We stayed at the "Suite de la Reine" which is a great appartment. Unfortunatetly, there was too much noise coming from the facility above the appartment, so that the sleeping quality wasn't good.

Amazing place. Very large property and in good quality. At night beautiful lights outside with a beautiful fountain.

The Kasteel parking lot is veeeery small and if (as in our case) it is already full, turning your car around would be impossible. We got recommended to park at the SOFA parking spot, though we would have liked to know that beforehand.

Nice location in a old castle immediately at the Maas river. Very friendly staff. Very well equipped rooms, all electrocal appliances functioning well. The room was very clean, the bed was excellent. Living Room with high ceilings :-)

The bathroom was rather small without a window. The road to the hotel was full of potholes and not well kept, this in stark contrast to the gardening fascilities that were well maintained and beautiful. Drive to City Center takes about 15 minutes by car.

there are so many wonderful things going for this place side from the property itself - attentive staff-breakfast delivered in baskets, SOFA restaurant next door, the size of rooms (everyone is different) and the orientation - towards greens and country views - a little out of town but still 10 mins from center - the grounds are beautiful at all hours- I had early morning midday and afternoon walks surrounded by birdsong around grassland, a marina, reservoirs and vine plantings - loads of wildlife like birds, hares, ducks, etc. I was there early spring and it was v dramatic…must be gorgeous in the summer

my room did not have a proper square work table and all service ends at 530pm closet space v limited and lighting v dark

Accomodation was great and the space was fantastic. We had a problem with the sink, but the staff were great handling this including offering a substantial upgrade. The castle is right along the river with a lovely 40 min walk to the city.

Not really the fault of the hosts but we were unable to book bicycles on their partners app

Stay relates to main suites in castle. If you want the wow factor this is it. Rooms are amazing, acres of room stylish, unusual features and a great sense of occasion when you arrive at the entrance hall. Staff are fantastic. They all really went the extra mile sorting out the restaurants, taxis and extending our cycle hire. They are the hotels greatest asset. Thank you. This was the last night on our 4 week European tour and really hit the brief for an exceptional stay in a lovely hotel. It could not have worked out better.
