The staff here are friendly and welcoming. Nice size room (standard with sofa). A nice place to stay. Quite “homely”, nice atmosphere. Nice layout - restaurant, reception and bar area. I like more about this hotel than I dislike. Deducted one point for poor room cleanliness, and deducted one point for other issues combined.
Cleanliness and tidiness of room was poor: hairs from previous guests stuck on bathroom tiles and stuck to bathroom door. Dirty shower curtain. Stained mug. Paperwork and a magazine from previous guest was in room. Waiter who brought my dinner brought a cream-coloured sauce that I hadn’t asked for. I don’t eat or drink dairy products and asked him if it had milk or dairy in it. He repeatedly said no each time I asked. So I asked him to check with the kitchen. He returned and confirmed it did contain dairy (it was a cheese sauce)! That was unacceptable. Hall lights stay on brightly at nighttime and overnight so, due to big gap under the door, the room remains bright during the night, making it difficult to get to sleep and reducing sleep quality.

Well you always know the quality of stay that you'll get in a Leonardo Hotel and this place was no exception. Leonardo Hotels just have a nice 'vibe' and they're classier than most chains. I have to say one night there were a group of students next door to us who were being SO loud and annoying so at 1.30am I had to ring reception who were really apologetic (it wasn't their fault!) and the 'party' was dispersed within about a minute so to me, that's when you know you're in a really great establishment. When issues get solved instantly.
Our room was quite small even though it had 2 beds in it and it is maybe starting to get a little bit tired but it's still lovely. Also, and this is just personal to me, but without wanting to go into detail, as a woman, I'm not a fan of a fixed head shower.... Those are my only complaints though!

From check-in to check-out the process was seamless. My husband and I were given a nice room with a lovely street view. Breakfast was included in our booking, and it was delicious and hot. The staff were also very friendly and accommodating. What was also nice is that the hotel is situated opposite a lovely park where we sat an enjoyed the beautiful breeze and the autumn colours. The West Quay Mall was also a short walk away via the park. We truly enjoyed our stay at Leonardo Hotel Southampton and will definitely stay here again when we visit Southampton UK again. PS: Drinks were also pretty good at the bar!

Staff were all friendly and helpful, but an outstanding person was the girl with the tattoos in the bar. The bed was very comfortable and the breakfast was very good.
So much is automated. I am 78 years old and easily confused by this stuff. Reception should have warned me that the lights in my room wouldn't work without a key in a slot, but they must assume that everyone knows about this. When I went into the room it was like a fridge. With a cold breeze blowing outside there were windows open. After I'd phoned down to ask about the lights I switched on the air conditioning. It took me a while to sopt how to switch it off. The room never did get warm. At about midnight I had to throw my clothes off and get under the duvet. Not my usual routine.

The second time we've stayed here. And great service. Staff friendly and helpful. Parking is my one negative 🙃- none available at the hotel. Carpark not too far. Had dinner at the restaurant- was good. I ordered Japanese katsu curry which was supposed to come with basmati rice but was served with long grain instead. I didn't mention it as food was still good. I needed an extra pillow and it was brought up in no time at all. Fantastic. Was looking to stay here at the end of April for 1 night again but the price has gone from £70 per night to £182!!!!! What on earth can justify the price hike? High season! Unfortunately, as much as I love this hotel we'll look for an alternative.

This hotel came recommended and for a cheap work visit it couldn't have been much better. It's in a very handy location for Southampton, train station etc and has a really nice lounge/ reception area. The rooms were cheap- we paid under £70 each for a weeknight stay for double (and sometimes even triple or quad) rooms. The staff were absolutely fantastic- couldn't have been more helpful and useful (Thank you particularly to Lewis who was on reception when we arrived). It was a bit frustrating on the runup as I really struggled to get in touch with the hotel directly via email or phone but once I was there it was great. They were brilliant about letting me put my bike in my room (Which I had made sure was clean!). Room was a good size with good faciliites. Bed was comfortable, nice to have tea making facilities, shower was powerful enough and the products in the bathroom (soap, showergel and shampoo) were all nice. My room was on the 5th floor and there was no road noise at all despite it's unusual location on a roundabout. For the price and location it was generally a very good stay and I wouldn't hesistate to stay again.
Lack of email or phone number for the hotel to ask questions before the stay. My room was a decent size and clean enough but did feel a bit tired in places. I.e the toilet, sink, bed etc were immaculate but there were a few marks and stains on the walls higher up where a cleaner just might not have looked. Unfortunately I found the walls a little thin and could hear the people in the room next to me who were keeping different hours to me, as well as there being a loud noise in the middle of the night (like drilling!) coming from the shower unit as far as I could tell

Excellent and friendly staff, the location is accessible to the parking lot (off-site) and town centre. For the executive room, there were extra amenities for us (eg. Free coffee & drinks on the bar per person per day) that was extremely welcomed! The bed was comfortable and the room size was big and worth it for the money.
The rooms are not noise-cancelling (it got a little bit loud) on our first night affecting sleep, the leather of the headboard of our bed was coming off so the pillows are getting slightly hued from the bits of leather coming off. The emails and the website online are saying a different check-in and check-out time than what reception told us (being in an executive room) so there were some confusion.

Good standard hotel. It has everything you would expect from a big hotel. Lovely staff made it personal! Huge comfy beds. The breakfast was good and the choices adequate.
The location was terrible. In the middle of a massive roundabout with multilane roads around it. The postcode to navigate to nearby parking house didn’t work. You had to walk a fair distance with your luggage to get to the hotel and there is no direct pedestrian crossing to the hotel. In the rain no pleasure. The drop off/ unloading bay only allows you 15 min, so you have to be really quick. Unfortunately on that basis I would not book there again. Another small note: the shower on the 7th floor was more a trickle rather than pressurised flow. Sorry!

Very friendly staff during check-in and check-out. The view from the rooms on the higher floors is great. WIFI was constantly on a nice speed without any breakups. Close to the city center with short walks to various sights.
No parking at the hotel possible and the drop off in front off the hotel is quite small. Reaching the entrance by foot can be annoying due to multiple traffic lights. The increased price for the last (weekend) night was way too high (more than 2.5x of the weekday price)

Room wasn’t available so we got a free upgrade! Coffee machines in rooms is amazing and snacks and drinks in fridge too! Comfy bed and good bathroom
Obviously not their fault but the fact there’s no parking is a nightmare got a parking ticket in the morning as didn’t get up early enough ooppss but that was our own fault
