Lovely old building with lots of history and beautiful grounds. Quite quirky but much more interesting than a modern style of hotel. At times it felt like we were in a live game of Cluedo - would be great for a murder mystery event! We were there for a family wedding and the staff were all very friendly and helpful and went out of their way to make our stay as pleasant as possible. Although I am not a huge fan of buffet breakfasts, this was one of the better ones.
Our room was a little on the small side but being the type of property that it is there is a wide range of rooms available. We had a twin room, which had plastic lined under sheets on the beds, which I don’t particularly like as I always find them too warm. Also, the bonded leather headboards are showing signs of ageing and starting to flake.

Hotel is quite spectacular and could be so much more. Excellent grounds , the food was very good, breakfast had two options hot or cold in two different rooms very strange set up, but the staff were very accommodating. I would go back but would upgrade to a better room.
Lovely location and a spectacular building, as you would expect it has a country house feel. But you don't expect it to be tired. Tables and chairs in the bar area are just well used. Carpets in various areas, my room (a single) was just tired all round, nothing drastic, but I've stayed I'm much better for similar money. It was clean and relatively comfy. I stayed in room nine, very small and above a beer garden, which was extremely noisy due to a busy wedding it did stop around midnight. I presume this is the hotels main income. Room was also very warm could do with a fan or air con. (Mid summer stay).

Beautiful setting, lovely gardens. A little bit quirky. Room nice, clean and comfortable, we had a cheaper room at the back of the hotel and though quiet through the night we were woken at 5am by delivery. One young man in the bar gave exceptional service saying we could have dinner in the bar as it was more peaceful and he served us perfectly. Very nice meal too. There was a raucous crowd in the restaurant, so a more peaceful setting suited us after a long journey. We really enjoyed our stay here and would stay again if only to enjoy the beautiful gardens and walks around the hotel. We guess it would be quite busy and noisy when wedding are on but you are warned about that when booking.

Beautiful building with so much history, a map so you can walk the grounds and information on things to look for. The food was way above expectations and totally fresh, well cooked and delicious. All the staff were polite and welcoming. The bar was well stocked with alcohol and none alcoholic choices. The room was clean comfortable and a lovely little on suit. Beautiful view and original internal shutters and tick curtain made the room cosy as grade two listed building has original single glazed sash windows.
There were a few areas that needed a little TLC but a building that old takes much upkeep.

Plenty of free parking. Easy to find. Nice friendly welcome from the staff. Beautiful surroundings, lovely building. Good tea & coffee facilities. Free WiFi. Can walk to the local town with lovely pub and facilities
The bathroom was very clean & functional but felt it could use a bit of modernisation to inkeep with the high standards of the beautiful four poster room. It was more like what you’d get in a budget hotel. The walls were a bit thin and you could hear the conversations of other guests whilst they passed by. But it’s an old building so perhaps to be expected. It wouldn’t put me off returning as the other guests were respectful and not overly loud.

Wortley Hall is the most beautiful House I've ever stayed in, It feels as Home :) The Staff was Amazing! So Kind & Caring! Ellies' hair styles (money bands) are inspirational. The Lady at the reception and Jonathan, the Hotel Manager are true gems in the Trust. Wortley Hall is beautifully positioned in gorgeous gardens and woods. It also appears to be a very vibrant place, offering fantastic parties, I wish I could participate in!
The young gentleman at the reception with a slight Indian accent could be more empathetic and tuned to the guests needs. 5 - 10 min notice to pack is not good enough offer for any guests. Procedures and protocols are just a rough direction not a Bible, Young Man; try to put yourself in somebody's shoes & than ecide what is the best way Forward. Dear Jonathan, Thank you for providing this young gentleman with a further training.

We stayed here for our anniversary, our second visit, the last being 6 years ago. It's by far my favourite place near Sheffield, Immaculately clean and well maintained while keeping all of its history, every room has something to tell about its historical links to the trade unions and workers it was used by. The food is mostly grown on site so is seasonal and EXCELLENT! Rooms are warm and comfortable and the beds comfortable. The staff are friendly and hard working. All in all it's an absolute gem of a hotel and a refreshing piece of genuine nostalgia in a frantic modern world. I hope this place stays like this forever.

We had a lovely big, comfortable bed and a wonderful view from our bedroom. The room was spacious and had everything we needed. Breakfast was excellent: buffet style with fresh fruit, pastries, typical hot English food and a range of cereals. Dinner in the bar was very good. The staff were outstanding. Very friendly and helpful, especially when checking in and the lady serving us at breakfast.
The room and ensuite was on the cool side for us, but there was a fan heater in our room, so we could warm it up a bit. The bed had a comfy and warm duvet.

It's such a stunning place!! We've been a couple of times before and would go again. We stayed in a suite for our final 2 nights, which was beautiful. There are lovely walks around the grounds, and the local village too. Breakfast at the Hall was also delicious and all staff were extremely helpful and friendly and would do anything they could to help if you have a question/query.
We stayed for 3 nights and had another room booked initially, which although was clean and tidy, it smelt quite musty and the bathroom was extremely small, so it was hard to move in there. However, staff were extremely helpful and we were given a different, much better room for our last 2 nights. However, the WiFi in the new room was pretty much non-existent which made using your phone and laptop difficult, but the quality of everything else in the room more than made up for lack of WiFi.

Lovely location, beautiful gardens and building exterior. Peaceful (despite it being a popular wedding venue) because of the large grounds. Our stay was under sad circumstances so the availability of the large grounds was much appreciated. Our room was spotless and beds were comfortable. Lovely view over the gardens. Staff were polite and friendly.
Interior in need of repair/refurb in places. Sat outside to eat until we noticed drain seemed blocked and was overflowing. Staff suggested it was a regular occurance when we alerted them! Restaurant shut earlier than advertised on the evening we arrived so we ordered food from the bar menu. Not great and expensive for what it was. Breakfast was much better but ants crawling up sugar bowl in restaurant at first table we sat at.
