I really enjoyed my stay here, it has a great vibe, really easy to meet people, and its not so big that it can be overwhelming for introverted travellers looking to meet people. Lots of locals come to visit and for Braii night. (BBQ) so there's a good relaxed social environment. The staff were great, keen to help out and have great recommendations and local knowledge. Jonno's sports massage was amazing and a really good discounted rate for the guests. They have plenty of tours and activities you can book here. Showers have hot water, beds are comfortable, and the kitchen is really good and spacious by hostel standards. There are also good communal spaces and the pool to cool off in and a very cheap bar! Well located and its definitely worth a stay. I move into an apartment here but will be back for Braii night! Thanks team!!

It is always a pleasure staying with the team at A Sunflower Spot Backpackers, in Capetown. The staff are lovely, check-in is always a breeze and while the rooms are simple, they are clean, comfortable and well kept. One of my favourite things about Sunflower is the coffee in the morning for the guests. There is always a fresh pot of coffee in the morning when I wake up and that makes a world of difference, especially on cold wintery mornings. Sunflower is well positioned on the main road, in Greenpoint. Access to the My Citi bus stops is easy, and you can head off to the Waterfront, Seapoint, Greenpoint or town pretty easily. If you like walking, you can walk these areas as well, from the backpackers. The kitchen at the Sunflower hostel is one of my favourites when it comes to hostels in Capetown. I love that you can still make food during load shedding as they have Gas stoves. In summer, a dip in their rather large pool is a treat and in the evenings, sitting around the bar playing 30 seconds with other guests is fun. They have two braai areas, one inside and one outside, that mean Braai nights can go on, even on rainy days. Again, they provide a salad on braai nights, which you can add to your meal, just remember to buy your meet early in the day from the local supermarket down the road. Special mention to the staff members, Augusto, Hans, Cardi and Vinny who made my most recent stay, an absolute treat. I will be back soon.

I don't have anything that I do not like about the property, my only suggestion to all properties in this time of load shedding is to try and get an inverter. This keeps some plugs and lights working, and the wifi. I find being able to still use the wifi and a plug point or two during load shedding (especially the four-hour ones) is a big help when travelling, working and or making plans. Unfortunately something we need to all be aware of in South Africa at this time.

The location in green point was perfect for us, in a quiet and safe neighbourhood. The premises were super neat and tidy, we met very nice personnel that helped us and attended us all the way through our stay. The room was clean and bigger than expected and the beds super comfy. Even the kitchen space was very functional and equipped. We would definitely recommend this place.

Maybe the room was a bit humid. I guess there is not much to do about it in winter time, but for sure it was a minor issue.

The hostel is located on the Main Street between Waterfront and Seapoint. For those of you, who would like to use the public transport, there is a station right in front of the hostel. We had a private room booked but it was quite small for two people and definitely smaller then the shared room … Bathrooms were shared. The kitchen is very spacious and well equipped. The stuff (most of them) were very friendly and gave us tips how to get around and what’s worth visiting. We booked a tour with the hostel, Cape of good hope, with a smaller group. This activity turns to be one of the best we had in all 6 weeks in Cape Town. The price was even a bit cheaper as if you book through the web site

There was a pool in the front yard of the hostel which was unfortunately very dirty, so basically it was impossible to be used. Very pity. The bar in the garden seems to always be overcrowded by the staff …

Nice laid-back atmosphere. As a solo-traveler, it was easy to connect with other travelers at the hostel. The hostel hosts a braai night every Saturday and is generally very including of the guests. Nice pool and bar area. Nice location close to the Green Point park, the promenade and relatively close to the V&A Waterfront.

Some dorm rooms can be quite hot and you might not be lucky with your fellow dorm people (but that goes for every dorm in any hostel).

24hrs light 24hrs hot water 24hrs security Every 7 to 11am, free drip coffee Receptionists and cleaner people are always kind

I booked an 8 people room but I needed to stay in 10 people room. There aren't any socket places in upstairs' common area. Always weed smell in outside common area. Luckily my room was far from that place, but if it was close, I can't have stood that smell.

Friendly, helpful and solution focused staff! They also organize a (social) braai at saturdays. Rooms are clean. Kitchen is also cleaned up everyday (until people use things and don't clean their stuff - but have seen this in many hostels). There is sun in the garden :)

I didn't expect to have a room with only a window in the ceiling, but thankfully after two nights I could go in another room.

I was a little skeptical as I have never stayed in a backpackers lodge but from the moment I arrived till I booked out I felt welcome. Everyone from the staff to the other guests were very friendly and everything was explained very well. Every inch of the lodge was extremely neat and clean. Unfortunately I had to book out a day early due to a hospital stay but if not for that there is absolutely nothing I can complain about. Thank you all

Super helpful and amazing staff! Nice pool and cute bar where you can catch up with staff and fellow travelers at the end of the day:)

A curtain of some sort for the skylight in the dorm room, it’s super light as soon as the sun comes up. And also a new toaster for the kitchen haha, this one has run it’s course!
