great facilities, great location, breakfast was splendid

I booked and paid for a premier suit, afterwards I was contact by the property and informed that all premier suits where fully booked and that they can only accommodate me in a standard room. they also informed me they where unable to reimburse me for the difference paid in premier and standard room as my booking was made through booking.com I also could not cancel the booking in order to rebook at the correct rate and room as the policy stated I would lose my full amount paid should any changes or cancellations take place. I had no choice but to stay in the standard room although I paid for the premier suit. I feel it is not fair to me as the client that I should be panelized for a clear miscommunication between the property and booking.com

We loved that the hotel was right in the park. Check in and the staff were lovely. the rooms were a good size, luxurious and well equipped. We were very happy with everything. We enjoyed our stay here and were very happy we decided on this hotel rather than the other one.

This is probably a South African thing and the way they build (i.e. not much insulation in the walls) but I have found that the plumbing can be heard from the rooms nearby every time other guests flush the toilet or showers. this was the same at this hotel. So not great to be woken up during the night when someone uses the toilet. I experienced this in other hotels and accommodation facilities around SA.

The atmosphere was electric, the people of Jozi are so welcoming. Staying at the theme park was perfect for me and my kids because one needs to spend more than just 3 days to explore the entire park itself. Barney's is right there at your door step , their food was fantastic 👌 staff was friendly. Affordable and quality meals . Entertainment was lovely . I loved every bit of what Gold Reef had to offer. It was sad to Leave but we will definitely be back for sure

The only thing that got to me was the smell is the hotel room bathrooms but everything was perfect

The hotel and theme park were exceptional...it was comfortable and great entertainment for the entire family

Barney's restaurant was a real downer. The breakfast was not up to standard. Waited 20minutes for eggs to arrive for breakfast. The person manning the egg station said they had run out of eggs and this was at 8.30am. We ordered burgers which was supposed to have Halloumi cheese on them...but they substituted haloumi with feta without any notification. We called the chef to complain and he says they have not had halloumi for the last 3 months 🤔. Said they can not get stock...shockingly lame excuse. They should then remove this item from the menu or advise customers in advance that they do not have it. Overall the restaurant has poor service with not very friendly staff as well. It's a pity as they give a poor reflection to the hotel being their breakfast partner.

I liked absolutely everything about the hotel, where it is situated (location etc.), cleanlines of rooms were breathtaking. The theme park and access to residents being free daily. It was breakfast included. The restaurant was neat and always restocked. The food was scrumptious and filling. The menu selections were top notch. It was a memorable experience. Thank you for the hospitality and excellent service by staff including the shuttle services. Keep up the good work.

The pool and how dirty it was. The weather was swimming appropriate however we couldn't because the pool wasn't cleaned.

The convenience of pick-up and drop-off with the shuttle was very convenient. They allowed us top leave our bags earlier and even pick it up after check out. The security team was attentive, and the environment felt safe and secure. The staff were absolutely helpful and friendly, which greatly enhanced my stay. The breakfast provided was exceptional and definitely a highlight of my stay.

The shower was located in the bathtub, and it took a long time for the water to drain, which was quite uncomfortable. One of the main issues was the long lines for the rides. During the 5 hours I spent there, I only managed to go on 4 rides due to the extended wait times.

Everything was awesome...the rooms were comfortable and had Everything we needed...we were given a room closest to the restaurant so we had easy access to food and leisure in the evenings...the theme park was also easily accessible...we were very happy

Our shower floor was clogged so water was always standing whe bathing and we didn't like that. My kids enjoyed playing pool at the resteraunt late evenings but we needed change for the machine. A particular waiter didn't help these kids to get change and we ended up having to drive out of the park to a nearby garage but the waiter whom I witnessed assisted others get change...I felt that was rude

Location in the middle of the theme park. Great staff and good shuttle to the casino area where there are more restaurants.

Theme park is not open every day. On the closed days there is nobody in the hotel and it is extremely quiet. Nice for sleeping, but you need to leave the park to find things to do. Late evening and early morning its very noisy. There is a lot of noise coming through the windows from staff that starts or finishes working.

We loved the fact that this was not a standard type of hotel but that the family suites had a quaint feel to it whilst being very modern and comfortable inside. Each room had an aircon and a television! The location is amazing - private parking, no hassle standing in queus to get in, friendly staff and an available shuttle service to get to the Casino. We will never visit Gold Reef City as day visitors again - we will always stay over at the hotel.

The fact that the bathroom has a glassdoor, albeit frosted, was a bit of a concern but luckily the toilet is situated in a seperate room with a solid door.

Property is quiet, safe, and very clean!

The reception at the entrance was very poor. We have had a 7 hour long trip with very small babies, we were very tired only for the security officers to make us wait outside for the shuttle “to help us with the luggage” for more than an hour. Until we insisted on Getting inside and leaving our car and bags outside. The babies were irritable, tired, hungry, needed urgent nappy change at that point in time so It was really a bad experience. We nearly left right there and there!
