Fancy hotel in the city centre near Ghandi Square with beautiful roof tarrace.Great choice and tasty food(up to 200R per person you get nicely filled for sure) and design of the restaurant or hotel itself very nice. Breakfast delicious and great choice of everything hot and cold. Possibility to leave bags before or after check in for free in a locked room. Staff very helpful and friendly.Ironing room on the 8th floor. Distance from the airport is about 33min-depends on the traffic and it cost no more than 260R by uber. Use only uber from and to hotel as Johannesburg seems to be unsafe/uncomfortable even during the day, however, city tour walking guide is highly safe and recommended to see the area(cost about 45e per person through get your guide app) Our room was excellent and spacious and it had shower and a Bath.

We had to activate the Key card to the room everyday as we couldnt open the doors after coming back to the hotel and reaching our 12th floor room-pain to go down everytime so I recommend to activate it straightaway after entering the hotel. And telephone outside the lift to ring reception didnt work. Generators outside were making so much noise so dont forget your earplugs if you sensitive like me😪 Roof tarrace bar seems to have lack of lemon or mint for water/drinks and most coctails from the menu were not available according to the barman. All these things could be improved😊

The staff were amazing they tried to sort all mishaps we had. The night manager Winston, reception night gentleman and day ladies and concierge staff, Thabo at roof top, waitress Khola and the lady who makes great coffee were beyond exceptional 😀 loved the lift adventure we got stuck in the lift for a good 15 minutes atleast 😀 will be back for trip number 3. I stayed in room 1212 before I asked for it since I had an upgrade every time this room was promised to no avail. I trust I will get to stay in this room next visit. This would have made my stay even more memorable

It was overall a great stay at the Reef hotel. I was only here from 11am saterday, until 7am sunday, so 1 night. -The partner with a company for airport shuttles. It was (950 Rand) for round trip airport transfer. Check in was easy, but i was early at 11am, so paid 350 Rand for early check in. Noticed lots of workers like to dance, a guy from restaurant, and lady from door desk both dancing to themselves, happy. -Room was good, big, good views. Fridge, and many outlets to charge things. I did accidentally test their outlet safety system and got a shock when plugging in my adaptor to outlet, but it was my own fault, and all outlets were out. One call to reception and they sent the mechanic up to look, and switched it back on. TV works with 1 English channel i could find. Big bath tub and shower. Safe in the room, big closet and drawers, and 2 desks. -The hotel takes up one whole block, and has a restaurant below (i never went there), and a bar on the roof (i went to the entrance of it, but was underdressed so didnt enter (they have a sign saying dress code), no one was at the entrance though. there is 4 elevators, but at least 1 was not working. 2 staircases, one in building by elevators, and one on the side of the building away from elevators. Nice views from side stairs. -Location is great, 20 min drive from/to airport if not rush hour. 2 blocks from ghandi square, with lots of food options. It was a good location for pickup for my soweto tour, i was last picked up and first dropped off. I was out at night and it felt safe for me. beer/weed store next door

Then negatives would be (and im a bit picky): -The shower mat/wooden floor thing blocked the drain while i was in there, i guess the way i was standing? i couldnt see the drain, but i could see the shower filling up with water like a bath tub, then shifted the mat and it started draining. -no airport shuttle for free.

the room was very neat and the location was also good. The breakfast was ok but the facilities as well as the staff were very good.

the breakfast was not upto the mark especially for vegetarians like me. The location was good but not a safe one after 5pm, so literally we were hooked up inside the room.

Restaurant meals were really nice and a good variety. Staff were friendly and helpful.Gas heaters were placed near us when it turned cold. Bar staff on the rooftop, front desk and concierge, were friendly, helpful and polite. They ordered me Ubers on several occasions.

An ATM machine, would be handy. Surrounding streets are a bit dodgy,so definitely stay inside hotel at night. But I'd do that anywhere in Johannesburg.

The room was well spaced. We had (paid) dinner, and (free) breakfast at the Hotel restaurant. Both were excellent. The staff and chefs took effort to meet our Vegetarian needs. We used the hotel for an overnight stay only to catch the mid-morning flight. So cannot comment on other matters, including location.

Auto switch of lights in the washroom is a bit annoying. The room is not properly sound proofed. We stayed in the 7th floor, and we could still hear street noise from people shouting/fighting (on Sunday night) and refrigeration trucks (on Monday morning) Added note: No response to messages that I had sent through booking.com for airport shuttle. The property were unaware of my messages. I thought I read about 'free airport shuttle' for the hotel (I may be wrong). But, not responding to my repeated messages were disappointing, moreso as we were travelling from Kruger to Johanesburg, and did not have any connectivity to call Uber/taxi. Left us high and dry.

The welcome from the brother and sister welcomed me so warmely and the lady took me to reception. The receptionist was very welcoming I felt the reception. The most wonderful was the part when the lady accompanied me to the room as she knew the door might be difficult if not used to. She was passionate to assist me with my Lagguge. That place is good through the people working there even the kitchen staff was superb. Thank you Reef Hotel

the location was not great. we really didn't feel the neighborhood was safe for walking around. The load-shedding in Johannesburg means power outages pretty much every day for some part of the day. This isn't the hotel's fault. I feel like they do everything they can to make your stay a good one.

Fair because in every case when we ask for take aways we were told that the management do not allow that, we had to force ourselves stay for eating in the kitchen even when we could commitments to attend, this is the thing you should attend but anyway things went well.

The only thing was that of breakfast others any how went well.
