I have been staying here for years as it was a calm comfortable hotel in nice grounds and quality bedding and most of all feels safe Great staff and best swimming pool in Africa.

It appeared my last two stays has been taken over by families with children that they think is a playground and I assume their culture inhibits them from parenting. The noise from the breakfast area is not relaxing anymore I upgraded my room as I had inadvertently booked a smoking room and it was on the ground floor ..so was unable to have the doors open to allow fresh air in the room while sleeping

We had our family of six traveling and this was our last night of a 20 day vacation. We wanted to end our magical trip on a grand scale this the Palazzo Hotel delivered. From the grounds (and excellent security) to the spacious rooms to the beautiful decorations to the amazing staff, this hotel was an excellent choice for us. The concierge services were also excellent, assisting with a large, last minute dinner reservation at a nearby restaurant and arranging transport for us too.

Normally I can find several things to say that could be better, but this was simply a first class operation and our experience was similarly first class.

the location is superb with monte casino just next door - great for a family stay with all the appropriate entertainment for you to chose from, plus so many superb dining options. I loved that the breakfast was a buffet but also with the option of ordering your eggs a la carte. The housekeeping lady did a great job ( i forgot to ask her name) but she was the same person throughout our stay and she paid great attention to detail. The porters and the team at the main door were also exceptional. Always nice and welcoming and eager to assist.

It is a bit put-offish when you are asked to pay a deposit for any extras (which you might not even have) at the point of check-in. in my opinion, just take the credit card details and then charge later if there is actually something to be charged. I did not like that feeling as it is quite offensive for me. The room, though clean and nice, was a bit too small for that price. if I compare it to Riboville for example, the latter was exceptional.

Room was comfortable and beautifully furnished, bathroom also lovely with a great shower with excellent water pressure. I had a really lovely stay and would happily come again. All the staff were friendly and helpful. The gardens and pool area are top class.

The service in the restaurant and bar is slow, waited well over 20 minutes to be served. The bar, located in the reception area, is also very noisy because it is such a cavernous room so don't expect a quiet or relaxing vibe until much later in the evening. The parking availability was also very limited and small for such a large hotel. Valet parking was also not offered to me when I drove in which is a shame for this standard of hotel.

Loved the "royal" feeling of the decor. Loved the fact that they have the whole top floor of smoking rooms, something that one NEVER comes across! Gardens are just stunning. So easy to get to the casino and restaurants section, either via a walkway or a short golf cart ride.

Sadly, the wallpaper in the corridors to the rooms has taken a beating and looks very scrappy in some areas. We had lunch at the Medeo restaurant in the hotel. Ordered the starter mussels, which were so tiny and overcooked.

Beautiful, big, grand hotel with huge open plan reception. Our room was just off reception, which I thought might be noisy but wasn't. The room was clean and comfortable, with a lovely big bed and flowers. Liked the small touches like the tea and coffee facilities with the Nespresso Machine and lovely little biscuits and the turn down service each night with a bottle of water and little chocolate on the pillow. Bar prices were very reasonable and bar staff friendly and helpful, service was excellent. You are only a two minute walk from the cassino and restaurants, so the location of the hotel is perfect.

I'm not sure if it's because we booked via booking.com, but we didn't get as warm as others when checking in. Check-in staff are not very friendly and didn't give us informationation on breakfast or dinner should we want to take it.

Breakfast was excellent and the entire staff was very friendly and welcoming, the hotel is beautiful with stunning views from the room and I enjoyed the very affordable room service.

The Spa was non-existent, I literally expected to use a steam/sauna room not just a massage by the pool which is what was described as a Spa, it was the only disappointing part of the hotel, the hotel is too beautiful not to have a steam room and sauna. Apart from that, the pool is nice and the gardens are just stunning.

A birders paradise. Truly beautiful gardens. Well located in Montecasino. It does have that special 5 star sparkle, and the room was cavernous. Proximity to Montecasino is a plus if you want to catch a show or enjoy one of the many, many restaurants. The gardens are why I keep going back, they are nothing short of outstanding, and if you love birds, you will be in heaven here.

Some unpleasant front desk staff were off-putting, with a clearly evident distain for European tourists. The manager intervened and it was an isolated incident that was quickly corrected. It was, however a good experience overall.

The overall experience was good. There were a few disappointments for the caliber of hotel.

The pool staff were exceptionally slow. It took 30 minutes to get a drink. When I ordered food, my dish did not come with chips even though the menu said that it did. I questioned it with the staff, but they did not return with feedback which was disappointing. The food was not great either. The morning breakfast was chaos and we had to wait for a table and then again waited for someone to serve us.
