Absolutely beautiful accommodation. The place is just like a living museum in it's best sense. Everything is decorated so nicely, trying to keep the original spirit. Nonetheless, the bathrooms offer nowadays amenities like walk-in-shower's. The owner's are such lovely folks. With James, the dog, not to be forgotten to mention. The breakfast was simply delicious. Whished we have had the time to stay longer.

Welgeluk Feather palace is one of the most memorable stays we've ever had. It's a unique and exceptional experience with the highlights being the genuine and sincere hospitality of the proprietors, the astounding accomodation in a beautifully furnished and appointed Victorian mansion and its authentic farm-style location, just outside Oudtshoorn and near all the main attractions. The best way to sum up is to say that we longing to return, this time in the summer months to enjoy it even more.

A winter cold snap made it difficult to keep warm but the owners did their very best to ensure our complete comfort. What a fabulous couple!

The staff was amazing - accommodating and extremely helpful. The owner and his wife were personally involved and interested in the guests. The location was great - so close to town. The food was amazing.

Both Apple and google maps unfortunately took me down a very difficult and poor road initially, so I thought that was the only path in. Once I discovered the 'proper' alternative road, it was fine.

A beautiful heritage home restored with love and care. Large and spacious rooms reflecting the elegance of the Ostrich Feather boom at the turn of the last century. A wonderfully large and luxurious bedroom and a bathroom with every modern amenity encased in old world charm. A charming and relaxing stay. The hosts Stan and Bernadette are generous and caring and available to answer any questions or just have a little chat.

Bernadette and Stan are incredibly warm and welcoming hosts. Felt like visiting friends. The place and the interior are stunning - a palace indeed. And the breakfast - you can taste scrambled ostrich eggs if you are lucky - is extremely delicious. Don‘t look further. Book this place. You will not regret. A beautifully restored ostrich palace with all the perfect modern touches to make one’s stay very comfortable. we had a spacious bedroom that opened onto the verandah. Light switches & plugs in all the most accessible places. And a very welcome electric blanket. Stan and Bernadette the owners are gracious and warmly welcoming hosts, whose guests comfort is the top priority. The staff are friendly and helpful. I look forward to staying here again!

The Welgeluk Feather Palace is a truly exceptional place. It is situated in the middle of the beautiful countryside near Oudtshoorn city center. After arrival, we were warmly welcomed by both of our hosts showing us around their home. Each room is super special, stylish and spacious with a lot of nice details and history dating back 100+ years. The interior is super luxurious and the garden incl. pool blew our minds. Breakfast was wonderful! Special thanks to our hosts who made our stay really special - we will be back :)

Welgeluk Feather Palace was fabulous! My husband and I stayed one night on our honeymoon as we travelled though Oudtshoorn. Our main reason for visiting was to see the ostriches. Bermadette kindly gave us a 10% off voucher for the ostrich safari - well worth a visit there if you're considering it! The house is beautifully decorated and we especially appreciated the electric blankets in bed as it was winter! Although we were the only guests at the time, a full continental breakfast was still laid out and followed with freshly baked bread and delicious eggs. Thank you for our stay and we will be recommending to our friends and family.

Beautiful property-with historic charm echoing the opulence of the ostrich industry. A wonderful surprise to experience a ‘feather palace’ as they were known, but with all modern comforts. Very hospitable hosts, relaxed bird watching walks straight out onto farmland. Delicious breakfasts, overall a wonderful , peaceful and refined stay.
