Great location and great pool

The staff at reception were not extremely friendly and did not seem to like kids. Not sure if this is a family hotel as there are lots of breakables / antiques and they were hovering to make sure the kids did not touch anything. Definitely a good stay for adults.

Location was great for us. The room was perfectly adequate for our needs. We needed the sofa bed as there were three of us. The hotel, room and bathroom were very clean with air conditioning. Very comfy beds and good cupboard space. The hotel is beautiful. We also used the gym and sauna which we had booked the day before for our exclusive use.

It was a bit noisy outside in the square at night around 1am-2am despite triple glazing. However being in a city location it can be expected. Thankfully it was only a couple of nights.

The staff were very helpful, especially Dennis, who took the time out to walk us to the launderette and recommend a few restaurants to us. The room was clean

View wasn't fantastic. Didn't like overlooking graffiti covered shutters or cannabis shop. Would have been nice to have a bar on the roof terrace and on the arais own website it states that there is an onsite restaurant which is not the case. The whole area around aparthotel is a bit scruffy looking.

The room was fantastic and the staff were very nice and accommodating. The facilities were lovely, clean, and comfortable for any length of stay. Good location in a bustling neighborhood, with easy/walkable access to a number of places of interest and transportation options.

There was nothing we particularly didn't like. The only things that were slightly disappointing were that the rooftop views weren't really great and the description of a restaurant on site is a bit misleading. There was definitely tapas and bars right outside, but it didn't seem that there was actual on-site dining.

from the moment you arrived you are greeted by smiling, professional staff. the hotel has a beautiful, not too strong aroma that fills the air. staff assists with luggage and handle every single detail at check in. they are very knowledgeable about the city and have many suggestions on tours/restaurants. they will even make dinner reservations while you are out for the day. this hotel is geared towards couples/families with older kids, which is a plus in our book. their facilities are extremely clean and hours of operation are fair. we took advantage of the gym and sauna. we also went out on the top floor where the pool is and were able to take wonder pictures. the rooms are expansive. every attention to detail in the architecture, design and staging is evident. the beds are comfortable, sheets are cool and clean, pillows are top notch. we slept wonderfully after our long days touring. the restrooms are stocked with luxury cleansers and the water pressure was great. the coffee bar in the room and mini fridge where a pleasant plus and we utilized both. the closet area is an organizer’s dream. the lighting was also great and very thought out, down to the bed side reading lamps. we felt very comfortable and safe at this location. it is close to many local hot spots, eateries and the coast. we were able to see many attractions in walking distance. the front desk attendants were extremely attentive our entire stay. check out was smooth and non stressful. they assisted with reserving our taxi transfer to the airport the evening before and gave us a wake up call to our room in the morning. we definitely felt at home at this location.

A beautiful historic hotel in the Gothic area of Barcelona. We arrived early and tired from traveling. The kind morning gentleman was thorough and knowledgeable and did everything with a smile as well as, the young man who showed us to our room and went over everything. The bed was comfortable, had a lot of bright windows looking out on a plaza. We loved that it had an elevator (even though on our last day it wasn’t working and they carried all our bags down three flights of stairs. The room had a nicely equipped kitchen and coffee maker, fridge although we ate out. It had a table and chairs. The bathroom shower was magnificent and spacious. The towels were plush, and plentiful. There was also a very nice outdoor pool and deck on the roof to sun yourself and get wet.

Not that it was the hotel’s fault but, we had read that some of the European countries had cut back on energy with Russia and the Ukrainian war as the pricing was sky rocketing. It was very warm and humid all over Barcelona as a result. When the room is not cold enough it made it uncomfortable.

loved how central the hotel was in Barcelona. our room was on the top floor so we had an amazing view of the gothic quarter. the pool was perfect!

only thing I would mention is our balcony was attached to the pool area - the only thing blocking the pool from our balcony were large plant pots. a couple of times we sat out on our balcony and there was someone stood next to the plant pots almost on our balcony

Hotel Arai was nicer and more comfortable than some 5* hotels we have been to. Beautiful décor, great location, very professional and friendly staff. We were a bit concerned about the noise after reading the reviews here, so we only booked 2 nights initially - and then we extended our stay to 9 nights. The noise turned out to be just your usual city chatter (no traffic, just people talking) and it's very much diminished once you close the windows. If you need absolute silence to sleep you might not like it, but we found it quite relaxing and we slept very very well.

The hospitality of the staff. The man at the front desk was so helpful giving directions, suggestions on places to eat and where to stay away from. He helped getting us taxi’s when needed. We also had to catch a early flight leaving the hotel at 4am to checkout to get to the airport and to realize that we didn’t do our Covid test to re enter the states so I called the hotel to see if we could get back in to our room until checkout and he accommodated that which was really nice. We rebooked for the night and he got us in our next room earlier than expected so it was an easy transition. This hotel surpassed my expectations. Thank you

The property is has been renovated to a high standard and was very comfortable. It is a great location in the Gothic Quarter, we would definatley stay here again. Hopefully in the summer when we can use the pool.

It's central Barcelona - don't expect a view! No complimentary tea and coffee for the morning.
