We started our honeymoon off in BCN at the mercer hotel. From checkin we met LUCA at the front desk who was so kind and welcoming. They greeted us with champagne, which we loved. Our room wasn't ready, but we were happy to walk around the gothic quarter--very cool! The hotel is central in the quarter surrounded by neat art galleries, tiny shops, coffee shops, etc. Excellent place to start out our honeymoon. our room was small, but it was all we needed. I loved the old brick. The rooftop bar and small pool was divine. There was hardly anyone up there. There were clean bathrooms and a phone to call staff when we needed a drink--it worked out great.

The whole experience matched my expectations: staff were unfailingly welcoming and polite; there was a willingness to go the extra mile and I felt that there was a strong customer focus to the day to day interactions.

I think taxi access to the hotel is an issue. My experience from several taxi journeys is that there is a wariness amongst the drivers resulting in a mixed reaction to drop-off. For example, my first driver dropped me at the door but voiced unease about the location; another dropped me off at the end of the alleyway. There is no easy solution to this but I thought it worthy of mention.

The location was excellent to wonder around the alleys of the Gothic Quarter, and to walk to many sights. The staff was incredibly friendly, and helpful. We felt welcomed each day, and they were genuinely interested in our day and how they could help in anyway. Top notch staff.

The hotel was a beautiful, calm and friendly oasis that was centrally located. A great jumping off point for Barcelona explorations.

The hotel is in a brilliant location in the Gothic Quarter. It's close to a Metro station and is surrounded by unique shops, galleries and good restaurants, cafes and bars. It's about a 10 minute walk to the iconic La Ramble. Our room was quiet, clean and super comfortable. Overall, the staff were fabulous. Everyone was friendly, professional and very helpful. The silver-service restaurant is excellent and the rooftop area with a small pool, bar and sun lounges provides welcome respite from the summer heat. There is a tapas restaurant, cocktail bar (with a mixologist making margaritas to die for) and a lovely shady area with tables under trees on the ground floor. I would not stay anywhere else in Barcelona.

We struggled with the high pillows and, despite their best efforts, staff weren't able to find ones which suited. A pillow menu with a range of options would be an advantage.

Loved the property conversion and decor. Lovely staff and service. Loved the tapas bar next door. Great location.

Breakfast in the bedroom once, a few things were missing on the trolley. Bedrooms a little on the small size of the price and not sure about the lighting over the basin as it is too bright when lying in the bed.

Zen modern meets old Roman stone — extremely relaxing hotel in a perfect location full of shops and restaurants with nurturing service on a level I’ve never experienced before. The staff gets to know you and is there for your needs. This hotel is a gem— a 10 out of 5. We miss it already.

The beds not quite as firm as we like , a tad springy. Still very comfortable. it’s next to impossible to find fault with this amazing hotel. It also can be confusing for some taxis to find it, as it is nestled in the passageways of the Gothic Quarter. But it’s worth any confusion, trust me!

Loved our stay here, We also really loved the Gothic Quarter - you can walk anywhere from here and everything is within walking distance. The area is very charming. Breakfast was delicious and the staff attentive and helpful. They pay attention to the details and we felt spoiled during our stay.

The only negative was the shower- I would have preferred a hotter shower but I do take very hot showers. The water was warm, not hot.

Customer service in the hotel is excellent! Beautiful little canapés delivered to our room on our arrival, served under a glass dome. Also, the door man (forgot his name, tall, salt n pepper hair, glasses) was friendly and very kind.
