I chose this hotel based on other reviews. It did not disappoint! The location is excellent, with lots of restaurants nearby, shopping and quick access to Las Ramblas. The breakfast buffet was amazing, and we took full advantage of it - lots of fresh fruit, pastries, bread for toasting, and local meats & cheeses just to name some of the items. The room was on the small side, but we had a patio to hang out on, with a table & chairs to sit at, and the bed was very comfortable (we didn't go on vacation to hang out in our room, so I didn't mind that it was a little cramped). I would definitely stay here again.

The hotel was beautiful. It was originally built in 1863 but is very updated. It was decorated in a Baroque style with gold trim and painted cherubs on the ceiling. Our room was very quiet and elegant and had a sitting room. The bed was extremely comfortable and clean. It was a perfect location on Rambla Catalunya and very convenient to restaurants and shopping. It was nice that they featured a 24 hour buffet. It mainly featured snack type food such as turkey for sandwiches and plenty of choices for fresh fruit and other snack items. The breakfast choices included several egg choices and was enough to start the day. Also fountain sodas and fresh coffee were always available. The staff was friendly and helpful.

There was an elevator from 1st to 2nd floor but to enter the hotel you had to walk up about 8-10 steps (with a rail) The bathroom had an older style tub with hand held shower. It might be difficult for travelers with mobility issues.

Location was excellent and staff was very attentive. Buffet open all day was certainly an added bonus.

Can't think of anything we did not like. Certainly an older/historic hotel with old world charm so might not be for everyone however we enjoyed staying there.

Believe it or not I have bedbugs rash. Where I got it I don’t know. In Holiday express in Amsterdam ? Delimon in Milan or continental palacete in Barcelona. It’s an unfortunate situation but these hotels specially continental should look around the room’s mattresses and crevices for bedbugs or their feces.

The supply of a 24 hour help yourself buffet made the stay different to anywhere we have stayed before. It was very welcome

Location was superb! The 24 hour buffet perfect for us as one of us was unwell. Staff very accommodating regarding looking after our luggage. Felt unlike a corporate chain. More personal. Beautiful lounge area. We LOVED it! And going back in October!

We were there in a heatwave but the hotel is carpeted throughout so felt very warm. This is not a criticism just an observation. There was nothing they could do about a heatwave and fans were on offer!

Our room in this old monument hotel was absolutely beautiful, especially the bay window with table and 2 chairs for us to sit and look over La Rambla. We loved the convenience of complimentary 24hr buffet, and after a busy afternoon sight seeing/shopping, we could sit outside on the terrace and have wine/snacks which were also complimentary. We were leaving before breakfast was served, so could at least grab coffee and bread/fruit. Staff were very helpful, and the location couldn't have been better for an easy walk from the airport bus terminal and metro. Considering the busy location, the hotel was so very quiet and peaceful.

It's a bit annoying dropping the key off at reception, each time you leave, and collect again.

The staff were very friendly and accommodating. They took care of all our bags from the time you entered into the door. We didn’t have to carry them up the stairs to our rooms even when we were leaving. The location is in the center of all the shops and restaurant.

They have a small elevator but had to climb some steps before you can get to it but if you are not against climbing some steps to get the reception area it will be fine. :).

The Hotel is well located and I describe the decor as beautiful. The free food and drink available 24 hours was an unexpected bonus with free flowing beer a welcome surprise

Arrived by plane late afternoon and staff initially allocated a room so small I thought it was a joke especially given the tariff paid. A request to relocate to a larger room was met with the excuse of no availability but after referring the matter to a manager a room was found and matched what I should have been allocated. ie room with a microwave as per reservation. Although the staff member was very nice, when I reflect on the attempted small room con job and even looking to get me to pay more for the larger room ( I refused ) the experience at the hotel is tarnished
