The location was a short walk to the old town and was also close to the metro. As an extended family of 5 (including a 2 year-old) we stayed in two spacious interconnecting rooms. The restaurant was a perfect match to our needs. It seemed to be always open, had a great menu (with vegetarian options) and the servers were very kind and child-friendly. Breakfast was excellent. The onsite parking was very easy to access and use.

Our only complaint was that interior swimming pool, which belongs to a health club rather than the hotel, had an age limit of 18 years, and was therefore not useable to us. The age limit was NOT stated in the Booking.com description of the facilities and was a major disappointment to us upon arrival. The health club and spa had additional costs, 8 and 20 EUR per entry, respectively. We used the health club on all three mornings.

The staff on reception were very helpful and the breakfast was excellent. The room was quite a good size and the bed was comfortable. There was a fridge and kettle. The parking was good.

I felt that for a superior double the room could have had some more nice touches. There was only one pillow each and no cushions. I know some people get annoyed by cushions but alot of people with back problems need one. The biggest disappointment though was the pool. They do say its seasonal but it was over 30 ° and yet it was closed. . The first thing you see in the pictures of the hotel is a fabulous looking pool. It's the main reason I chose this hotel. So major let down.

Guests are charged eur 20 every time they want to use the indoor pool, which I thought was a bit much. It should be free for guests, or a one off charge (of no more than eur 20) for unlimited uses during the duration of your stay.

Great location, close to the Old Town but you should keep in mind that you'll need to go up the slopes returning to the hotel from the city center. Anyway, Bilbao subway will help you out and Santutxu station is 5-6 mins. away from Occidental Bilbao. Although the hotel is at pretty busy transport artery the district is great with an old church and a pedestrian alley and park right next to it. Friendly staff, clean interior and comfortable lobby that appeals you to have a coffee with croissant in the morning!

The only problem was the hotel's wi-fi, it was weak/slow so it was better to use mobile data instead.

location near metro was excellent. quite and relaxing hotel, fabulous staff and breakfast was lovely. the whole hotel is a pleasure to stay in.

I have to swim due to my bad back. the price is 20 euro and includes spa and gym neither of which I can use. would be better for say 10 euro for swimm only option for the day - cost of 20 is for one visit so if I went twice in a day it was 40 euro etc which is excessive.

The hotel facilities were great - the swimming pool was a good temperature and size, there was a large relaxed bar area and a pool table that was free to play. The staff were all super helpful and friendly. The restaurant offered a range of good and fresh food, and it was open all day from lunch time which made it easy to eat, particularly with children

It was a little less central than I'd hoped although the metro service was good once you knew where you were.

Nice hotel reception . Nice bar area and bar staff . Pool area nice although small .

Room was small for three people . Wardrobe was ridiculous Gad ti squeeze in gap to hang things n very small . No drawers at all . We stayed for a week and it was awkward living out if suitcasss felt in top of each other . The cleaning facilities were poor despite leaving ticket saying clean room dirty cups were left two days in a row and no replacements. Bathroom floor was not cleaned throughout stay . Not sure we got clean bedding either .

The staff at the bar and restaurant were very kind and accomodating! Food overall was good, bar and snacks were good. Front desk staff were excellent and efficient.

I used the pool almost everyday and 2 days I was asked for my room number to verify myself even though you had to enter with a room key ... felt singled out and was weird, some guests were not asked so it felt random. Also not enough chairs for the pool or you had to go right at 9am so lying on the ground not great or comfortable.

Very clean, staff friendly & professional. Pool very good but a little cold. Atmosphere in lobby very good ... lots of people & the pool table a nice addition. Hotel in good location

Pool a little cold & no option to use indoor pool without a large expense per day per person despite already being residents & having paid a good price for hotel which should include ALL facilities. Pool table in lobby is great freature but we didnt get to use it as someone else was always using it. There should be a 30 minute maximum time limit on it so others get a chance to also avail of it.

Staff are SUPER nice and accommodating. The location is great (near a tube station and even closer bus stop). It's very close to all you need to see in Bilbao (by public transport). The hotel is also nice overall although the beds are not the best.

I had a double superior and apparently this kind of room always comes with twin beds which is a shame because basically although it was only me I had to sleep in a smallish bed. The beds are a bit flimsy because of their base. They tried to make it better with a good tick mattress but it's not working very well.
