The location of the hotel is superb - close to the centre of the old town but not where it becomes very crowded when there are numerous cruise ships in the port. The room we were allocated was sizeable and had ample storage space both for clothes and for empty suitcases. Coffee making facilities were provided as were chocolates. The twin beds were very comfortable and in the wardrobe there were blankets, duuvets and extra pillows (in case they should be needed). The shower was very efficient with good water pressure and plenty of hot water. The atmosphere within the hotel is very calm and tranquil with, in places, as background music, gregorian chants. Around the hotel there are a number of public areas that can be used to sit and relax - both outdoors (in the cloisters) and indoors (in the library and sitting rooms). The breakfast provided is excellent with a wide choice of hot and cold foods, and a choice of fruit juices and fresh fruit. A selection of white and whole grain breads, cereals, jams, yogurts, and dried fruits is provided together with tea and coffee. As space in the breakfast area is limited it is necessary to confirm with reception (the day before) the time you would prefer to eat breakfast (the choices being, between 7 and 8 am, between 8 and 9am, between 9 and 10am or between 10.00 and 11.00 am). The reception staff was very helpful with excellent recommendations as to which of the numerous nearby restaurants were better than others. Also the staff were knowledgeable about their city and the places to visit (and how to get to them).

In the bedroom we were allocated there was only one armchair for sitting in to watch TV. It would have been more comfortable if there had been two armchairs. The TV is limited to terrestrial Spanish channels only - all with adverts- which for non-Spanish speaking visitors might prove to be a challenge. The size of the TV was fine and the reception/picture and sound quality good

Terrific ambience with rooms situated around central courtyard as befits its conversion from the convent of the adjacent church. Rooms were excellent for a single traveler - comfortable bed and very clean. Staff were very helpful and professional. Great location on the south side of the old town - less than 10mins walk to the City Cathedral square. Host of restaurants, as well as sites, within easy walking distance

Whilst I enjoyed my stay, it should be made clear that the hotel is, in effect, an up-market bed & breakfast. Prospective guests should not expect any room service facilities or free add-ons. It is basic, albeit in a lovely setting. This explains why the hotel has, I believe, a 1-star rating. (In response to some posts, I see the management uses this rating as a defence. All I would say is that I paid much more than I would pay for a 1-star establishment and that is what matters) Again, whilst the room is fine - and I was in a room facing the waterfront road and had no real noise problem - the bathroom facilities are pretty basic, notably the shower. The management also seem obsessed by dirt and make-up on their towels.

The room was large and functional. We smiled to see two single beds a long way apart. The beds were comfortable. The breakfast was particularly good; the quality of the offerings was high. There is a serenity about the place. The hotel was exceptionally clean throughout and well maintained. The staff were excellent.

I am being hyper-critical here; this is an excellent hotel, and I can thoroughly recommend it. However: The breakfast room is rather cramped, and it was rather chilly (mind you, we visited in January). The pervasive background religious music (albeit very low) is a bit wearing after the first day (especially at breakfast). I can understand the need for a boutique hotel to have a theme and add 'atmosphere', but this was a bit much for my taste.

We booked a Superior twin room and the bedroom & bathroom were both very modern and spacious. I would say more close to a four star standard than the one star, which is the hotel's official rating. Lovely position and very close to the train station. Historic building which looks amazing. Breakfast is available at extra cost, but there were son many places to eat close by that we didn't bother taking breakfast at the hotel.

My only criticism was that the word 'balcony' conjured an image of sat out watching the world go by. However, the balcony is in fact a Juliet Balcony around 12 inches deep, so it is barely possible to stand on it. Any images I had of sat outside sipping my favorite drink, were soon quashed. All the rooms looked to have the same type of 'balcony'.

The hotel was close to an open air car park. We parked there but had to cross a busy road to get to the hotel. Location for us was ok, on the edge of the historic town, and it took us 30 minutes to walk to La Caleta Beach to watch the sunset from the hotel. A very good restaurant around the corner, Aljibe or something like that! Hotel is an historic building, a monastery, and has a lovely cloister you walk round to the lift. It’s outside, so cold in January. A monastery converted to a hotel and it has quirky things about it. The room was spacious, and quiet at night, and had an almost separate bedroom from the sitting area. I felt it was a little dated in the bathroom area, but ok. Breakfast is by timed entry, hourly. The hot food was kept on a small burner which was not adequate to keep the food hot enough. There was plenty of choice for breads, jams, yogurts, fruit juice and cheeses etc. Coffee was ina flask or you could make an espresso. The staff were on hand and helpful.

Lack of heating in the bedroom and bathroom. And a very (too light) light quilt on bed, and we needed the thickish old blanket in a wardrobe to make it warm for sleeping. The safe didn’t work for us.

This beautiful hotel is ideally located on the edge of the old Cadiz. Parking was easy to find close to the hotel. The rooms are arranged on two floors around the quadrangle of the old convent which provides a peaceful area to rest and relax. Within 100 yards of the entrance there are three restaurants and a bodega and there are many more bars and restaurants with a 10 minute walk of the hotel. Our room was a generous size with an ensuite bathroom and very comfortable king size bed.

In all honesty I cannot think of anything that could be improved. The hotel caters for every need with a comfortable room and excellent choice of options for breakfast.

This being our 4th stay in this hotel says it all, It is very well situated being in the center of the port, the main transport hub being the cruise terminal, rail and bus stations are only steps away provides car parking close to the hotel also. it is also with easy walking distance to all of the main tourist sites, Although the hotel does not do meals other than breakfast there are excellent restaurants located within the immediate vicinity, The staff are very friendly and helpful, the breakfast is excellent and fairly priced.

Very little to me personally as a none drinker. But the hotel being as it's tile suggests still a working religious institution, and as such doesn't sell alcohol at all. whilst it matters not to me personally, it does affect the star rating.

This hotel is full of charm and character in a great location for discovering Cádiz. The bedroom was modern, comfortable and well equipped. The breakfast was good. The staff were very helpful

It’s not a boutique hotel which is a silly overused term. They should market it stressing its unique historical character. The bathroom was small and basic with tiny awkward shower. There are no reception rooms downstairs to relax in, no bar and breakfast was in a small room where one had to book a slot the night before. Considering the size of the hotel it is surprising they don’t have a larger dining room.

Its a beautiful historcial building so it already feels different than a normaly hotel and I mean that in a positive way. Location is great to get around Cadiz. The walls where a bit thin and wifi was not good where we where. However we did not come to stay in the hotel we where meeting clients so thankfully we did not need th WiFI. And never raised the topic which night have been able to be resolved. For a weekend away this is lovely place and great location to get around Cadiz and just different than your typical hotel. Beautiful.

We absolutely loved the location! While practically neighboring the train station for easy arrival in town, it is also easy to reach the most attractive of café and restaurant offerings. The beach is also a mere 20 minute walk away, along the town fortress wall, lined with incredible views and inviting sunny pubs. The property itself is gorgeous – staff, a delight, and very forthcoming with good tips and a welcoming attitude. Because it is an old monastery, it exudes a very generous atmosphere with beautiful inner courtyard, and easy to navigate stairs, and/or elevators for accessing the rooms.

The room was a little bit loud; not so soundproofed. But, then, our neighbors also were yelling at each other in the evening and in the mornings, so, not really fair to blame the hotel for this. Windows to the big street were perfect for a quiet night’s sleep, if completely closed.
