The Grand Hotel Corona is conveniently located between the bus station and the beautiful center of Salamanca (5-10 minutes walk). It is fronted by a park. The hall is spacious, marbled and with metal linings, even if with few sofas. Staff at the reception is very friendly and helpful. Rooms are spacious, with a view of the Salamanca's cathedral and other historic buildings. The bathroom is exceptionally large, clean and modern, with a comfortable shower, twin basins, large mirrors, and a bidet (which Italians will appreciate). The room is also very large; the bed has two pillows, which helps. There is plenty of light and sockets, and a small desk. The furniture is of modern design, perhaps early '90s, but in good condition and, contrary to the anonymous booking- optimised, hotels, it has personality and is mostly used by Spaniards. Air conditioning works well, and the wifi was sufficiently strong for my needs.

I really did not like the ubiquitous abstract paintings. The breakfast, though relatively cheap, was very disappointing. A quick walk to Plaza Mayor would have offered a much better meal at a lower cost. The ingredients of an Iberian breakfast were absent or hidden (tomato). The bread was of terrible quality. The Iberian ham was not recently cut. The coffee was from a machine and not good at all. No squeezed orange juice. No cheese worth its name. The pastry was varied, but below standard. The top-hung window can be opened, which is good, but the way they can be opened presents a danger which is usually prevented with these windows (they allow someone to fall off).

Some of the staff, although always polite and courteous seem a little miserable. A smile occasionally may help. There was also an issue with the electricity in our room which would occasionally go off on its own despite having the card in the required slot and one of the lights would flicker and fizz when you tried to turn it on. A little worrying when it's next to the door and you are on the fourth floor.

The 5th floor room was a good size with a panoramic view over the city. The bed was very comfortable as were the other furnishings. The bathroom was large and modern.

The shower temperature was a bit erratic going from cool to hot intermittently without warning. Our stay was perfect up til being woken at 5am on the day we left. I rang the night supervisor at 6am to deal with an idiot talking loudly on his phone outside the building. He said he’d deal with it but did nothing. The idiot finally left at 7.

Very good value for money, staff were always friendly and the room was very big and kept very clean. I loved that the windows opened so I could sleep with fresh air. Sealing windows shut is becoming more common and UK and some European countries

Breakfast wasn't particularly good, but still represented good value for money. Restaurant seemed empty most of the time and I didn't eat there.

Breakfast is okay (compared to Barcelo the choice is much more limited but everybody will find something to his/her liking). Great view from the window - you can see all the towers of the cathedral in the old town which is a 5 minutes walk from the hotel. Large Mercadona store in the basement of the hotel is also very convenient.

The only problem is that the room is too modern and there is not even one drawer and just 1 shelf so I had to keep many things inside my suicase. This way it is easy to clean but not so comfortable for the guests.

Everything, the view from our window , the clean and comfortable rooms , the brilliant service and price for the set menu We will definitely return

The address on Booking .com is I correct , the actual entrance to the hotel is a different street name round the corner, just difficult with sat nav when trying to find on a busy road

We had this hotel booked just before the lockdown and once we could go to Spain again we rebooked it and I’m so glad we did. When you arrive you can go straight into their underground carpark if you know where it is. you just need to press the buzzer for the hotel as part of the carpark is used by the supermarket. It’s a long ramp down with a bit of a tight bend at the bottom but easy for motorbikes. There was plenty of parking when we arrived and the lift takes you back up into the hotel. Check in was quick and easy with very friendly helpful staff on reception. We booked a room with a view of the city and wasn’t disappointed. The view was amazing and the rooms have floor to ceiling windows. The air con worked great, the room was clean and spotless. The bed was very comfortable. I was very surprised at just how nice the rooms are as I don’t think the photos do the rooms justice. We didn't hear any noise from the rooms around us or from the corridor. It’s in a very nice location with a supermarket next door for any extras you may need. It takes about 10/15 minute walk to the cathedral and that’s me walking using a walking crutch. Breakfast was good with everything you could want to start your day off. The breakfast area is split into 2 so if there is any coach parties staying they are in a another part of the restaurant. We would stay here again next time we visit Salamanca.

Nothing the hotel exceeded our expectations

It was a very nice hotel. The rooms were spacious, clean and comfortable. On sight parking which you accessed through the same underground access to the Supermarket car park (street view it on google maps). You need to check in first before parking. There is a waiting space outside reception for this if you're lucky. The entrance to reception is on the side street.

The Hotel is well situated with good parking. Excellent value for money with large well equipped clean rooms. We had dinner in the hotel Restaurant - 3 course meal with bread & water included for 17 Euros (so reasonable) & well priced wine list - really good meal with attentive well trained waiters. Reception staff speak perfect English and are extremely helpful & friendly.

We chose this hotel because it is located in a nice place, near the historic center. We arrived by car, and saw that the parking lot was big, so no problem to park our car. We had quiet nights, and were surprised by the view in our room.

The parking lot should be cheaper. We paid 24€ for two nights there, a bit expensive since we already paid for the room.
