we booked this property to visit family members in the area who didn't have any space in their home to accommodate us. The weather was unexpectedly cool and we would have made more use of the massive terrace with a lovely view if it was warmer. This property is in a picturesque national park precinct with the attraction of outdoor activities such as walking, hiking and mountain biking. My husband used the facilities in the underground car park with Bike tools, hose cleaning area for your equipment and wall mounted racks for storage as you can't put the bikes in your rooms. Our bedroom was large and the bathroom was massive. Breakfast was provided as part of our package and the food was excellent (we tried all the items on the menu over 4 days) and we appreciated the lift for our luggage as we were on the top floor. The building has an old world 1920s ambiance more suited to a Scottish hunting lodge complete with patterned carpet and breakout rooms (such as a games, library and sitting room) which was separate to the main foyer. There was a casual dining area and a formal dining area which we used both.

Our bedroom was on the end of the building which faced the afternoon sun making it a bit warm when we got back from our adventures. We had one of the few rooms that didn't have a balcony and needed to use the aircon in those situations. You had to book a slot for breakfast and dinner reservations in time slots of 30 minutes in between. The property was too far to walk into town for exploration and you needed a car for other parts. Would have been nice to be able to get a spar treatment like a massage.

It's a lovely place, the Parador at Cervera. If you want buzz and hum, the bar, the restaurant and the terrace buzz and hum like nobody's business. But the lounges are quiet and sedate, the rooms are huge and the balconies fabulous. At night in August the sun sets in the north-west and rises in the north-east so on the north side of the hotel we began and ended the day in wonderful beauty. The staff are lovely, the food is terrific and the views are incomparable. We walked through the woods to the Senda del Oso, enjoyed a light lunch in the town and then walked back up through oak woods and dry meadows.

Our last night on tour and what a fabulous place to stay. Rooms are huge and full of traditional construction methods with beams, old wooden doors and furniture along with a huge bathroom too. The view from the bar terrace is stunning, overlooking the Spanish Picos and watching the sun set. Excellent, attentive staff throughout our 1 night stay. This was the evening of the England/Spain European Cup football final and they showed the game of a huge projector screen within one of the large lounge rooms placing us four English at a table in the prime viewing spot. We were surrounded by maybe 40 locals and good banter was enjoyed throughout. Food was excellent too and the breakfast was amazing, the best on the whole trip. A super place to stay and would not hesitate to visit again.

No food was served, either in the bar or the restaurant, until 8.30pm at the earliest. I appreciate the Spanish like to eat late, but given Spain was in the football final, this was very strange as it meant anyone eating in the restaurant would not be able to watch the game. Furthermore, other than a few pastries, no food could be ordered in the bar before 8.30 either. Having arrived at approx. 4.30pm we were somewhat starving by 8.30 and a little light headed on the amount of beer consumed by then. Finally, given the quality of the hotel and the market segment it is clearly aiming at, it was somewhat disappointing and surprising to find that there was no air conditioning in the rooms.

Coffee not good and insufficient size of coffee machines for size of restaurant . We found it very irritating that we had to book a time for breakfast and the restaurant was always half full at breakfast time. Considering we serve ourselves breakfast we didn’t find this pre booking necessary and would have liked to have gone to breakfast when we woke up, not have to set an alarm. Dinner service is too late starting at 8.30 pm, we would not choose half board as an option again.

The view was incredible. The room was a lovely size and was very comfortable. Good choice at breakfast and dining room was very comfortable. In particular the staff were extremely helpful and friendly.

The balconies could do with a coat of paint/varnish and although the size and facilities in the bathroom were good, it was looking a bit tired and in need of refurbishment. It would have been great to have some basic tea/coffee making facilities in the room.

The staff were superb and made allowances for my very poor Spanish. The location was very dramatic although the weather could have been better, but this is outside the control of the hotel. I was surprised that dinner was not served until 20:30 hours and some of the explanations of the dishes was a little confusing in translation for example the vegetable soup with veal could have been better described as a veal and vegetable casserole.

Beautiful setting with nice walks from the hotel into the surrounding woods. Staff were very good especially the bar manager / maitre D who was brilliant! Drinks were good value and the terrace overlooking the lake was fantastic. Lift to the rooms is great and the rooms were well appointed, very spacious, clean and beds comfortable. The little balcony was lovely too! Dinner was good with a reasonable choice and excellent quality. A little pricey compared to the area but still decent value for money. We would definitely stay again

Chairs on the terrace could do with some cushions. No food of any kind available between our arrival at about 4.30pm and dinner at 8.30pm and town is a little way off so take snacks if you're peckish earlier. Be aware if disabled there are a few steps from reception to the lift but there is a disabled lift for this section - a bit of a faff but do-able. View over the lake would have been nice, especially as there were few people staying but alas - no upgrade! Hahaha!

This is a hotel with a view. In fact the view is everything, drinks on the terrace as the sun goes down over the montains in the evening, just beautiful. The rooms are enormous, you could have quite a party in there. Half of them have a balcony with a view of the mountains, the other half have a balcony with a view of the car park. Lucky dip.

You need to remamber, the hotel is miles from anywhere so if you want a drink or a meal, you have to pay their prices. The restaurant is expensive, but they do bar meals which are better value for travellers on a more limited budget.

This Parador is one of the best, staff are helpfull and make you feel welcome unlike other Paradors. Location is good good for what we wanted which was a motorcycle tour. Food is good and you need a room overlooking the lake. Rooms are huge and comfortable. Good value for money on the half board deal.

Only thing perhaps is the rooms are a little dated but are in keeping, only real gripe.

Old car, 1929, needed to trickle charge battery therefore in garage at 10 euro a night which is a bit rich! The Bar food was better value than the restaurant, a little limited. But it was available earlier than the restaurant. Eating late leaves us with indigestion. Loads of space to sit talk but nothing to read in any language. Some books , or even a book exchange would be a good idea.

10 euros per night for the garage only because the vehicle needed to be trickle charged.
