Lovely bright room and exceptionally clean. Dual aspect windows with small balconies over looking street. Fourth floor and very quiet. No noise from outside either. Good shower and comfy beds. Location is nice - in very boho/ hip area with lots of vintage shops and good bars. Also nice quiet sunny square with couple of cafes/ restaurants nearby, good for breakfast.
No kettle in room. Also only mirror was in the bathroom. Would be better to have a full length mirror in room as plenty space for this. Not very easy to get ready for going out when two women sharing and you both need use of mirrors.

The room and bathroom were very clean. The location was right smack in the middle of the Tribunal neighborhood which is filled with restaurants, bars, cafes and retail stores. The Sol and Fuencarral shopping districts were a short walk to the south and the Goya / Serrano area were just a quick walk to the east. Excellent location, great value.
The internet was pitiful. You might as well use your phone as using a laptop will only trigger anger. Why would a hotel in this day and age offer internet where when speed tested registers a 1.5? My home internet registers above 100 all the time, and it's not even a business establishment.

There really is nothing not to like. Yes, it's a little old fashioned, but that is nothing compared to its plus points. 1) The room wasn't massive, but the single room had a double bed, good WiFi and TV. 2) The bathroom had an unexpectedly powerful shower. 3)It was spotlessly clean and the housekeeping staff did a great job every day. 4) The location is fantastic! I cannot stress this enough. You are 100m from Tribunal metro which has fantastic connections everywhere. The area is vibrant with bars restaurants and cafes, but you cannot hear this in your room. 5)For all it does and where it is, it represents fantastic value for money.
Nothing, really I loved it.

The hotel's location was perfect, in a very beautiful neighborhood of Madrid's historical center, full of beautiful artistic shops and small restaurants. The hotel itself was very comfortable and clean, and the staff polite and very helpful. An excellent experience! Our first time in Madrid. We walked to all important sites / museums (which are at 20 minute walk from the hotel),, because we like walking. The metro station (Tribunal) is also very close to the hotel. We strongly recommend the hotel.
We liked everything! The only thing you need to know is that there are four or five steps to get to the elevator, from the hotel's entrance. This was not at all a problem for us, however. Everything was excellent!

The above remarks are about Hostal Macarena, Hostal Silserranos’s sister property. Excellent central location in side street off Plaza Mayor and one minute away from the Mercado San Miguel. Very warm welcome and receptionist particularly helpful and friendly
These remarks are about Hostal Silserranos where on arrival on 4 Oct we were told by a rather flustered receptionist that there had been an overbooking and half of our group would have to move to another hotel. Unfortunately the way the receptionist explained it , we felt we were going to be turned out in the street to try and find another hotel at nil minute’s notice. It all turned out ok in the end for the reasons described above but at the time we were not impressed . Not clear whether this overbooking was the fault of Booking.com or Hostal Silserranos. As the organiser of this little trip it did not make my life easy by having my group split in two

Excellent location if you're seeking more progressive vegetarian and ethnic food restaurants, as well as gluten-free bakeries. Very clean bathroom, nice towels, and good shower pressure. Sufficient closet space. Minimal street noise.
Desk clerk was perfunctory and ultimately impatient, with minimal English-speaking skills, e.g., "How do you want to pay?" The double bed proved to be not firm enough for two adults. Morning noise from other floors awakened us -- classrooms appear to be on the floor below, so nonstop chatter could be heard from about 8 or 9 a.m. Dated furniture (which was okay, reminding me of hotels in the 1980s) and only one desk chair, although the room could have accommodated two -- only one of us could sit down.

Fantastic location in an interesting district. Two minutes walk to Tribunal metro so getting around the city was a breeze. Room small but perfectly adequate for a week long stay. Comfy bed, great shower, just don’t expect a balcony panoramic view of the city. Flatscreen telly if you tire of exploring, and whisper quiet air-con if it gets a bit hot. Reception staffed 24 hours. VFM can’t be faulted. No breakfast but that’s a none issue as front door is literally a few steps away from an Honest Greens which does a superb breakfast menu, tho’ plenty of other options all around. Plenty of restaurants, tapas bars, clubs etc within a 15 minute walk.
You could say the room was on the small side, or maybe the decor could be updated, but when you balance against all the positives that’s a bit churlish. Might be difficult to find initially - look up! There’s a relatively small sign high above the main door with a small brass plaque on the right of it. 2 flights up and you’re there.

Coming from Dubai, I recently stayed at Silserranos Hostal in Madrid for three nights with my wife and our 8-year-old son, and I can't say enough good things about our experience. Accommodation and Service: The gentleman at reception was incredibly accommodating. We initially had a smaller room, but he immediately recognized our need for more space. He promised to do what he could, and true to his word, he upgraded us to a larger room the same day. His prompt and helpful service set the tone for our stay. Cleanliness: The apartment was spotless and cleaner than our house. It smelled fresh, fresh, fresh with no trace of dirt anywhere. The attention to cleanliness was remarkable, making us feel comfortable and at home from the moment we arrived. Location: Silserranos Hostal is perfectly located, just a 5-minute walk from Gran Vía, one of Madrid's most bustling and iconic streets. This proximity made exploring the city incredibly convenient.Local Amenities: Downstairs, there are great restaurants offering a variety of cuisines. Despite being in such a central location, the hostal was incredibly quiet. We enjoyed peaceful nights of sleep, undisturbed by the noise of the city. The air conditioning was fantastic, ensuring we stayed cool during our summer visit, and the Wi-Fi was fast and reliable. Breakfast: A highlight of our mornings was the best churros downstairs, right in the same building. They were the perfect start to our days in Madrid. Overall Experience: This was my second time staying at Silserranos Hostal, and I can confidently say, "Guys, this is your place." The combination of excellent service, pristine cleanliness, prime location, and local amenities made our stay truly enjoyable. Rating: 5/5Highly recommended for families and anyone looking for a comfortable, quiet, and centrally located place to stay in Madrid.

Location, location, location! In a vibrant district just north of the central area, between Masaleña & Chueca, but only a minutes walk from a metro which gives you easy access to the ‘top ten’ type sights: museums, shopping etc. and beyond. Spotlessly clean, comfy bed, whisper quiet aircon, good shower and 24 hour reception. Great value. Lots of breakfast options close by, but a special mention for Honest Greens, literally next door. Oh, and did I mention location?
If you want a balcony with city views it’s not for you, room on the small side. But why would you want to sit in your room when in Madrid?

Absolut value for money. The room was very clean & the cleaners came in daily to clean, make the beds and change towels - without an extra charge. They also provided shower gel. The hotel is really nice from the inside and very close to a central metro station that connects with many lines. The area around the hotel is very good, vibrant with a lot of street food restaurants & vintage clothing shops. There were mostly locals in the area. Buildings are well kept and the streets clean. Would definitely stay there again.
