August 2023

We stayed for two nights at the end of our honeymoon that involved six accommodations throughout Spain and Morocco. Of the six, it was the best in terms of service, space, architecture (the views alone), and sustainable amenities. After staying in some cramped and/or odd layouts, our room at the Hotel Sardinero had the perfect open floor plan, a large bathroom and "flow" to relax and refresh before catching our international flight to the States. I also liked that they are eco-friendly and provide quality toiletries----they don't cut corners. Interestingly, the lid of one of my SB cups went missing. Admittedly, it LOOKS disposable----just like the plastic lid of a paper cup----but it's not. I was sure the staff tossed had it, which I couldn't fault them for, but it couldn't hurt to ask at the front desk. The staff at the front desk (Galo?) did take it very seriously and took a picture of the one I have. Still, I wasn't very hopeful. Besides, we've had them for years and they cost all of 4 dollars.... Well what was my pleasant surprise when they had recovered the lid and it was waiting for me at the front desk the next morning! Now that's service!

My stay was too short!

We loved everything about this hotel. It was charming and exquisite and we couldn’t have hoped for more. Very comfortable bed and really nice room and bathroom. Toiletries provided and room serviced every day. Water provided in a small fridge and replenished daily. The terraces were sanctuary and we loved relaxing each day after sightseeing. The Library bar was beautiful. We loved sitting in front of the window watching the world go by. The location was in the city but out of the hustle bustle so it was lovely to walk back from areas of Gran Via and Sol to a more peaceful area. Restaurants, pharmacy and supermarket within 2 minute walk. We walked everywhere to all the main attractions and there are tons of tapas and restaurants on every street. Alonzo Martínez Metro is on your doorstep. Great connection to the airport with one change. We would highly recommend and hope to return.

No tea/coffee in room but we asked at reception and they provided us with a kettle and cups.

Attractive exterior and modern atrium breakfast room. Easy ac cess to metro. Pleasant staff were helpful but a little reserved perhaps because they were behind a desk and not fully fluent in English. Waiter was attentive at breakfast.

Front door has no handle so you just push it open. Not obvious and luckily someone came out so we skipped in. Breakfast offers a good range of cold meats, cheese and fruit to add to cereals or yoghurt. Hot option is fairly basic. Bathroom is large and well fitted but no storage or shelf space. Couldn't get rain shower to work. Lots of grab handles for elderly.

Beautiful hotel and amenities. The room was clean, nicely decorated and comfortable! The lounges in the hotel were comfortable and unique. The hotel staff was so communicative and helpful- they really helped make the experience memorable! The location of the hotel was perfect- quiet but super close to the buzzing streets- about a 20 minute walk to Plaza Mayor.

The AC wasn’t too strong, but it was comfortable enough. The staff was helpful in trying to make it more comfortable but it just didn’t go up as high as we would’ve liked.

Hotel location is excellent, a short walk from the main attractions in the city including the Prado Museum and El retiro. The staff is very nice and helpful, in particular Monica at the reception. The room and ensuite were very clean and the hotel offers two complimentary bottles of water a day. Couldn't rate the comfort of the bed and pillows any higher.

The room door is not completely noise cancelling, so early in the morning one can hear the cleaning team and a few guests chatting in the hallways.

The room was very comfortable and spacious and felt private as it was next to one other room separated from the hallway by a lounge. There was a balcony over the square below. Although there was traffic, we slept well with the windows closed, and could have closed the shutters as well. Breakfast was good, and they gave us the option of just having juice or tea rather than the full breakfast. It was about a 15 minute walk to the Prado and there was a taxi stand across the road, so easy to go anywhere.

They have managed to maintain most of the original features of the old building and yet it is a modern hotel. The 5th floor terrace is very nice. They also have a bar open all day.

They could certainly do with a ramp for suitcases in the area that leads from the reception area to the lifts. Our room had a wooden floor without carpets. Luckily we had no guests above us but if we had had the noise of people walking above you would have been very unpleasant and extremely noticeable.

The staff were great. Probably the best we encountered during our 17 days in Spain, Portugal and Morocco where we stayed in about 12 different hotels. Fatima on the from counter was brilliant with her customer service. Her male colleagues were also very good. Loved the cool drinks available in the reception area after coming in after hot outings

We never used the bar. Probably due to costs.

The room was a great size, the bathroom too; the location was better than we expected, after seeing a few reviews commenting it being far out we were surprised everything was a 10 minute walk, no need to use the Metro’s if you don’t want to! We had a room on the main road but the blinds and shutters blocked all that out! The rooms were cleaned everyday, fresh water, towels and toiletries and breakfast was served between 7-11 which we felt was great!

Breakfast did get a little repetitive on a 4 day break, it stayed the same selection every day and there’s no hot options. Our room was great, however there was water damage/damp on the ceiling and a bit of wear and tear in the bedroom. It didn’t bother us but probably one of the only things we could comment on!

Building is beautiful, and location is great. Rooms are nice. Soundproofing is good. Metro station is right across the hotel. and the street in front leads straight to city center. There are many nice restaurants near. On the corner across is Manolo Bakery, great bakery and great coffee, Rooftop is great, lovely view and nice relaxation. There is "the library snack bar" inside the hotel, it is nice for drinks and some foods. Gym is small but open 24h.

There is no kettle in the room.
