Great location to discover the Ancient City of Polonnaruwa, followed by a sunset swim in the pool. The rooms are large and comfortable, although slightly dated. Staff organized two bicycles for us on short notice and are generally very kind and helpful.

The food was not quite as inspiring as we've come to expect from Sri Lankan cuisine. The room could have been a bit cleaner - carpeted floors are tricky. Considering our other hotels in Sri Lanka, this one was on the rather expensive side for what it offered.

Can't beat the location. We were here for only one night, booked two rooms including the royal suite. Was told on site that we couldn't use the room but the staff gave us another suite. Was a bit disappointed but they really tried their best to make up with some nice offerings, including a boat tour. The view is unbelievably beautiful, place was quiet and tranquil, and a walk at the ruins next door at sunset is simply a magical moment. Small pool but very cute. Service is good, everyone is friendly and smiling. Really loved it.

The coffee maker in the room was really good. Food in restaurant was really great. Great location.

The carpets in the room were absolutely ridiculous thing for a hot and humid country. The swimming pool needed refurbishment as the edges of it were not even and it was possible to cut yourself. Also it was not possible to walk to the car park without local souvenir sellers surrounding you and trying to sell absolutely useless stuff as they did not react to the word "No, not needed" and kept showing their stuff.

A delightful place to stay for a quiet and restful visit to Polonnaruwa. The view across the Lake is beautiful. Our room was huge and very comfortable, and the staff were really helpful. We spent two days exploring the ancient city by bicycle, which was great fun and very convenient from the hotel (and we were grateful to borrow umbrellas!).

The Western restaurant food was quite repetitive and not as good as it could be - better to ask for the Sri Lankan options...

Fantastic place to stay for several nights and discover the ancient city of Polonnaruwa as well as just relax by the lakeside. I definitely recommend booking one of the lakeside rooms which come with a lovely private terrace overlooking the lawn and lake - awesome sunsets! The location is a 1 min walk from the Polonnaruwa museum, and a 10 min walk from the park's main entrance. However, in the hotel premises there is no hustle and bustle from this proximity. All very serene. Staff go out of their way to make the stay perfect and help with onward travel. Excellent! Last but not least: The food was excellent. I had the Sri Lankan breakfast which was delicious and plenty! Also ate at the restaurant for lunch and dinner, western as well as Sri Lankan dishes, and all of them were tasty and fresh! Would definitely book again!

The room could have been cleaner - nothing major, but finishing touches (had a used teaspoon on the coffee tray, mosquito net above the bed looked pretty grey).

Location is great, overlooking the lake and just a few steps away from the archeological site. The lake view room is really nice, large and comfortable. The restaurant is also good, the breakfast is amazing.

The swimming pool is ridiculously small and a bit dirty. There are only a couple of sunbeds for the whole place and so you have to fight to get them. IT wouldn't hurt to provide one set for each of the lake view rooms, we're only talking about 3-4 rooms.

Overall we really enjoyed our stay and would absolutely recommend if its in your budget. Pool was fantastic. General ambiance of the hotel was lovely. The staff were fantastic, we had a tour of the property on arrival and were shown the queens suit (with the golden bathtub!) Which we really enjoyed. My aircon didn't work in my room and I was immediately upgraded to a deluxe suite (very nice!). Breakfast was good as well. Location was ideal, very close to the ruins and beautifully located over the lake.

In my travel companions room there was a cockroach in their room. They had an espresso machine for coffee in the morning but coffee was unfortunately only average (though far better than Sri Lankan coffee we've mostly had here)

The position is amazing- right on the lake with amazing sunsets and a really spectacular pool. The rooms are lovely and the small nature of the place ensures an intimate atmosphere. Staff went out of our way to meet our needs.

I felt the pictures on booking.com made the lawn area look much larger and much more private. in actual fact there is no privacy as soon as you leave your room. We stayed for 4 days; breakfast could have been a little more varied so we wouldn’t get bored. also, it would have been nice if we had been offered to have meals outside rather than in the somewhat stuffy dining room which played the same music every day for 4 days. It would be great if more staff spoke more English. Staff need some training in guest privacy. We’d sit outside our bedroom having morning tea and someone would be sweeping or wiping right infront of us and continually peeking into our bedroom. It felt invasive. Despite the stunning pool and lake view, there are only 2 loungers for 16 guests.

The hotel is ideally located; lake-side, right next to the Antiquities Museum and Visitor Centre and close but not in the town.

in addition to it’s prime location the hotel has excellent facilities including a very pleasant restaurant, anti-room, small but nice pool and terrace for relaxing. The room we had was spacious, comfortably equipped and with the excellent bathroom. There was plenty of hot eater if required. Aside from these plus points the staff were pleasant and helpful, the food excellent and cost reasonable. The hotel provided an excellent stay.

Nice place to stay for a night to visit the town. Outlook is really beautiful and peaceful and there are plenty of seating areas. The monkeys though make it difficult to eat outside. The grounds are very well kept and nice. The pool looks nice. wifi worked well. Room is spacious and nicely decorated. Shower worked fine. Staff are friendly. Lounge seating room is very nicely decorated.

Some of the furnishings in room and carpet are dated and need updating to be considered luxury. Bathroom was clean but bit dated too. Bed sheets were no longer smooth and need replacing.Food was very average, OK for a day but not if one was staying there for a while. Monkeys make it hard to eat outside but this is outside control of hotel. We would still recommend staying here for a night as the rooms are very nice and outlook is beautiful and very relaxing.
