If I were served the same breakfast in the center of Berlin, I’d be praising the rich and wide variety of food available every morning. But when you get such an amazing breakfast at the northernmost hotel in the world, it simply takes your breath away. Additionally, each morning, you get an incredible view of the bay and nearby hills from the warmth of the hotel restaurant. The hotel also has a bar open until late at night, where they also serve food. The staff was truly exceptional! I’d compare them to golden retrievers - no matter the time of day, they were always smiling, enthusiastic, and communicative whenever I visited the reception. They possess excellent local knowledge, so they can practically answer any question and go out of their way to ensure your satisfaction. In front of the hotel, there’s a small parking lot where you can park for free, but it mainly serves as a pickup spot if you’ve booked one of the adventure activities. I hope I’ll get a chance to return to Svalbard someday and stay here again.

Nice location and great view from our rooms. Got to experience the midnight sun right in the window - no problems sleeping as the room is equipped with dark curtains. Good beds and a coffee machine in the room are a big plus. We had a 5-night stay - and are satisfied with the breakfast, the service from cleaning and the reception staff. In our booking we asked for rooms close to each other and we got it. We are very satisfied with our stay and can recommend the hotel.

Location was perfect and the staff exceptional, nothing was ever too much. Room which was a junior suite was what we stayed in was ideal. Breakfast was good and the restaurant and bar where also very good

At £1900 for a week bed and breakfast for one adult and two children it was as expensive especially as rooms were basic but I understand that it is expensive to stay there. This aside I would recommend staying here for ease of collection for activities and for the central location. I also couldn’t understand that there were no blackout curtains considering in summer there is no dark, we resorted to using bed spreads to block out the daylight. Just unsure why they wouldn’t have blackout curtains or blinds.

It's literally one of the best options in Svalbard. In addition to the reputable brand of the hotel, although it was not the cheapest hotel in the city, it was the cheapest hotel with the options of in-room TV, private bathroom and included breakfast in the hotel region in the city centre for the days I stayed in Svalbard. The location is indisputably good: very central, close to the downtown, one of the pickup locations for tours, and one of the stops of the airport bus. All landmarks of the city are within walking distance from the hotel. All the staff, i.e. the receptionists and the staff of Nansen Restaurant and Barentz Gastropub, were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast service with a satisfactorily wide range of foods and the dinner at Nansen were decent enough. The hotel also harbours the northernmost gastropub, Barentz, which is open till 2 AM in summer. My room was pretty large and the room and the bathroom were clean enough. The bed and the sofa were comfortable. The hotel's wireless Internet connection was not bad. The shower gel, shampoo, and soap in the bathroom were of high quality. There was a tray set with kettle and tea, coffee, and hot chocolate served in the room. Last but not least, the housekeeper made up my room every day.

I don't have any seriously negative feedback about the hotel in my mind. The only odd moment happened at the dinner at Nansen I had booked before: It seems there was a communication problem between Nansen's staff because I arrived at the restaurant at the reserved time and I had to repeatedly tell each waiter of the restaurant that I had had a dinner reservation at the restaurant and the last waiter told me to come back around 15 minutes later claiming my table was not ready yet. To be honest, for a moment it made me feel like I didn't get enough respect as a solo traveller man with a non-elegant look. :) Nevertheless the main waiter who dealt with me throughout the service was very polite and managed to make me feel good.

I was fortunate to pick this place as my base in Longyearbyen. Given the complexities of setting up a hotel and running one in the arctic, this hotel is fantastic. It's probably the best out there. 1 - The staff are super helpful and responsive. Right from before my arrival to my entire stay, the team online was super responsive and helpful with all possible queries one could have. I must give a special shout out to Jakob, Olga and Antonina at the front desk who are also part of the customer service team. Super accessible, responsive, professional and courteous - throughout. 2. The check-in process was smooth and quick. If you inform them in advance, they make sure to do their best to keep everything ready, including giving an early check-in. I didn't get the specific room we'd discussed for the first two nights (although I got the room grade I'd paid for) and they were apologetic - and moved me from the 3rd day onwards (including shifting my bags while I was away). Super nice of them. 3. The rooms - at least the one bedroom suite ones - have stunning views (beautiful and memorable ones) and are spacious, comfortable and have enough space to lounge around. Again, given the arctic there are flaws and gaps (lights not working et al), but nothing that would ruin the stay. 4. The location is a 10 minute drive (max) from the airport. Taxis come within 5-10 minutes. And the Co-Op is a 5 minute walk away, as are the museums, cafes and restaurants. It's in a great spot. The end of Longyearbyen is an 8-10 minute and the famous sign with the polar bear is just a 20-25 minute walk. 5. WiFi is as good as it can be. Had no issues. 6. In the summer, carry a fan! :) I stayed in September so it wasn't bad - if the windows can open, when you need some fresh air. The insulated walls could make the rooms hot. If you get the one bedroom suites, open the windows up and enjoy. Would I stay again? Oh, definitely.

They lack a phone in the rooms. But understand that's difficult up there! There could be a tech solution to summon housekeeping or ask a question to make it faster vs call them (from an international number for tourists). The room cleaning could be better - didn't notice the cleaners vacuum once. And some rooms have stairs - worth noting for those with mobility issues who are older or have challenges. I didn't. But it's worth informing :)

This hotel really seems to be at the heart of Longyearbyen.. Great breakfast and nice bar too. Very comfortable rooms.and lovely to have slippers and robes. Cute and reasonably priced gift shop. Saw a reindeer outside our room. Nespresso coffee machine. Lovely staff.Great to be able to check in at the hotel.and print boarding passes and luggage tags.

No jacuzzi as stated and sauna only available between certain times if you pre-book which wasn't stated until we made further enquiries. Couldn't get air con to work, shower gel was empty and didn't get refilled.

The staff and location are really excellent. All the outings/boat trips pick you up from the hotel and you can book through the reception as well to go on some of the outings/boat trips. The breakfast overall was good. The bus brings you straight to the hotel from the airport and to the airport when you leave.

There are a couple of things that could be improved: 1. Black out curtains for the rooms as in the summer there is no night time. 2. A proper coffee machine instead of the urns that gives you coffee on tap at breakfast. 3. 2 pillows per person instead of just 1. 4. As people are often there for quite some time, more reasonable prices to do laundry at the hotel as €10 per t-shirt is a bit overpriced.

We stayed here for 6 night and could not have made a better choice. Everything is perfect, the staff has been extremely helpful with all we needed. I truly believe that if you want to stay in Longyearbyen there is no better option than this. The hotel also has a souvenir shop, which also provides winter gloves (same products for cheaper than any shop in town) and a lot of other goodies (including postcards) to remember this unique destination. In the hotel you can also find a pub that is open until 2 AM and a restaurant. However, if you want to try other restaurants, the hotel is walking distance (like 200m) from the mainstreet, as well as from most of the attractions. Totally will be here again!

Our room was very nice and comfortable, the breakfast buffet was also very good you have a lot of choices. You can Check in an Print your flight tags directly in the hotel, this was new to us and very nice. The Hotel is perfectly in the Center of Longyear and you can reach eveything quick from here. The Bar/Restaurant ajoined the Hotel has a very nice menu and very friendly Staff. There was free Glögg and Cookies what made us very happy :).

The ladies at the reception were a little cold and not welcoming, compared to the male employe who was very nice with us. If we would have been informed at check-in about the whirpool reservation conditions we would have used it more.

- I enjoyed the nice ambience of style of the Hotel - The view from my room and from the breakfast area are great - I loved the Spa area - It was very clean - The staff was very friendly

- The main reason why I booked the Hotel was the Spa area, with it‘s outdoor jacuzzi. So I was a bit surprised/ disappointed when I heard that you have to do a reservation for it limited by one hour per day. But the staff was nice enough to let me extend it for a bit, so it wasn’t a problem for me.
