I have stayed at the Krafft many times. I consider it to be all in all the best hotel in Basel and one of the best I have ever stayed in. It does not boast the trimmings and trappings of 4 star luxury, rather the enormous satisfaction of everything done just right to the smallest detail . Even in the simple single rooms all the fittings are of the highest quality and properly maintained. The smallest bathrooms are still excellent with powerful modern showers, big fluffy towels and nice gels and shampoos. Beds super comfortable and the view from the Rhineside rooms far better than from the 5 star Drei Konige across the river...because you're looking AT the beautiful Grossbasel Rhineside, not from it. The lovely staircase and landings have the feel of a restored 19thc mansion. Each floor has a station for coffee-making and a font for still or sparkling mineral water with carafes. There's a swim-bag in each room to put your clothes and towl in and take into the water if you swim in the Rhine. No key cards here. A big heavy metal key fob and a real key in keeping with the rich history of this place. They have updated their fleet of free cycles available for guests, still Bromptons but now brightly coloured ones. Breakfasts are gorgeous and the dining room overlooking the Rhine stunning. Staff always super attentive. As you leave after check out they offer you bottle of mineral water for your journey. Details like this in my opinion are what make a good hotel great.

The hotel is in a prime location, offering stunning views of the Rhine River and easy access to the charming old town. Guests will find that all major attractions, shops, and restaurants are conveniently within walking distance, making it an ideal base for exploring the area. Breakfast here is excellent, with a wide selection available for several hours, overlooking the Rhine, and the option to dine in the evening adds to the experience. We particularly enjoyed the cosy sitting room next to the reception. It’s beautifully decorated and serves as an excellent spot for meetings and discussions, blending comfort with convenience.
We were delighted with the friendly and accommodating staff and the overall quality of the accommodations. However, while retaining some old-world glamour is charming, the rooms' soundproofing could definitely use some improvement.

The hotel has a great location by the Rhine River very close to many restaurants and shops. I was upgraded to a corner room located in a building opposite the main building and I really enjoyed the extra space. The room was also quiet and private. There was a tea and water station located on my floor. Breakfast had a good selection and was served in the main building overlooking the Rhine River.
The shower in my room kept on moving towards the glass door when the water was turned on. I had to keep on moving it back away from the glass door but it was not able to stay at the position that I wanted.

The staff were very welcoming and smiley. I arrived too early for my booking but they kindly took my luggage and arranged for it to be in my room when I checked in a couple of hours later. The building is big and old and full of character. Everything was very clean and I was very pleased to have a Dyson fan in my room, as the weather was very warm. Breakfast area was lovely. Facing out to the river. Plenty of options and an attentive, discreet service.
No issues really. The wooden floors were very creaky and loud, but not much they can do to change that in a lovely old building. Most of my stays in Switzerland have the same feature and you stop noticing after a while.

Nice old building situated directly over the River Rhine. Air conditioning is lacking, but a fan is provided. In every floor corridor, one has access to coffees, tea, and water since there is no mini bar in the rooms. An overall pleasant stay.
I would suggest staff are properly briefed regarding which car parks have special concessions with the hotel. We were not given the correct information and ended up paying three times more than what was expected since we were not entitled to the discount.

Lovely team of staff, reception and breakfast in particular. Great selection of food for breakfast and all very tasty/fresh - The quiet elegance of the room very soothing. Loved our room (4/12), spacious, good comfortable and excellent lighting in the bathroom with magnified mirror (much appreciated). Will certainly come back to try restaurant when it is open again and also the outside by river space in better weather.
Restaurant to be open! Otherwise no complaints - The exterior/build work/crance etc perhaps a bit off-putting on arrival, but all good once inside.

I loved everything even before I arrived the team were so helpful with queries I had. This absolute gem of a hotel is perfectly located for enjoying Basel and the Christmas markets. Facing the river on one side and a beautiful historic street with Christmas food markets on the other. Inside the decor is delightful and the staff are fantastic. Warm friendly and extremely helpful. I was lucky to get upgraded to a room with a balcony overlooking the river. And a voucher for a gluwien perfect start to the weekend The single rooms are so comfortable and there is a water tea/coffee station on every floor. Breakfast was lovely with fabulous views over the river. For exploring the city and markets it's perfect easily walkable also right on the tram route. The cost was much less than Colmar which is less than an hour by train. I had an incredible weekend enjoying the markets architecture and history in France and Switzerland. I'll definitely be back and highly recommend a stay here.
Nothing everything was perfect.

The hotel is very charming, historic Swiss hotel with contemporary design touches and comforts. Cozy fireplace at the entrance and picturesque location near the river and historic kleinbasel. Staff was young and friendly. Bed was comfortable, simple but comfortable room. Really nice herbal teas and coffee station in the common areas.
My room was quite small, but I paid a cheaper price as it was a single room so I'm not complaining about it, I knew it would have been small. I could hear some noise from other rooms, doors slamming in the corridor, and from the street below. The hotel is near a few bars and the Christmas market was on when I visited. I recommend earplugs, if your sleep is difficult and you have a room on the street side.

- Marvelous breakfast - Excellent location - close to the town hall, kuntsmuseum, direct transportation a few meters away to Vitra and Fondation Beyeler. In front of the river - Beautiful building and decoration - Cool and professional staff - Gel, shampoo and body cream in the bathroom were nice - Water, coffee and tea available 24 hours
- The pillows are a bit too flat - The isolation between the rooms is not great, earplugs for me were necessary

Great location for walking or accessing the free transportation around the city. Staff were very friendly and helpful.
There was no mention in the property description of major street construction going on outside of front door as well as drinking/eating Christmas Market on the hotel street that went on nightly well into the wee hours.
