The hotel was in a quiet, safe yet convenient spot. It has two excellent restaurants on site. It is very clean. The staff are very welcoming and efficient.

My room was small but seemed well equipped. However, it was unpleasantly hot whatever the outside temperature. I tracked the heat source to the minibar (for some reason this was in the wardrobe) which was as hot as a radiator. The room was hot despite having fully opened windows and an electric fan on. I slept badly the two nights I was there as a result. Another problem was the quality of the bed linen. The sheet on my bed was made of some sort of rough stretchy towelling. You may think I am a princess, but it contributed to my poor sleep.

Beautiful and comfortable room with nice view on roofs. Excellent bathroom and equipments. Super nice staff, great breakfast, and warm, cosy and charming athmosphere. The hotel proposes discount on most of museums and public transports. We'll come back to visit the city!

We liked that there is no car in the hotel area (most beautiful part of the historic city centre), but if you carry lots of luggage, you'll have to park (easily) in a parking, 5 minutes walk. By the way nothing is cheap in Basel.

Nice large room in brand new building, facing away from street, very quiet. Very comfortable bed. Nice system of shades, one for privacy and the other to eliminate light, which worked well. A high end Nespresso machine and pods was also provided.

Like most higher end hotels in Basel, the room was decorated in a highly minimalist style, spartan and a bit lacking in warmth, though executed in materials of excellent quality and appearance. A carpet would have done a lot to warm up the feel of the room. Bedding was the inevitable down comforter which all higher end properties seem to have defaulted to, and as usual, much too warm, unless the thermostat is dialed way down.

Very clean, spacious modern room (felt like a small studio) with nice decor, cleverly designed

The shower head didn't stay fixed in position and slid down and into the corner so had to be held which was a slight bother. Also, the Nespresso machine on button was impossible to find so some instructions would have helped. Decaf pods or English breakfast tea bags would have been great but not a big deal just a preference. The biscuits and chocolates were presented as being gratuitous but were on the bar menu so luckily we checked.

Really good working desk, comfy bed and pillows, coffee maker and mini-fridge in the room, sanitary facilities pretty new and clean

The room air was sticky warm most of my stay (no AC). There was a fan provided in the room, but that didn't help much to cool down, even with the window open all night through. I wouldn't say this makes this hotel a no-go choice for me in the future, but definitely something to keep in mind when booking in summer time

All staff members we encountered were pleasant and very helpful. They spoke English (and German and French!) and easily answered our "tourist" questions about where to go, what to do, etc. We were given cards to ride Basel public transport for free and to get 50% off at a number of museums. We dropped our luggage off early (since we arrived well before check-in time). When we got back to the hotel, they had taken our bags up to our room already. The breakfast on-site was great. The location was great. We walked to everything! I would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Basel.

My husband and I don't like the very soft pillows (that we often find in Europe) and in this hotel. That's just a personal preference.

Location, location, location for a decent hotel that was not expensive and right beside the old town. Excellent choice for anyone wanting to see Basel for the first time and have a great impression. Everything withing walking distance including the SBB Hb train station.

Shower and toilet set up was fine but shower curtain could have been prevented from flowing with draft due to convection with hot and cold water but a minor issue.

Wonderful old hotel in old town Basel, convenient walking distance to many sites. Had a great bar/cafe and two wonderful restaurants. Its right on one of the tram lines, so just walk out your door and you are connected to the clean and efficient swiss public mass transit system. The hotel is a great place to hang out for a day or two as well, and depending on your language skills, there's entertainment that occurs at the hotel.

If you have a heavy/large bag, you may walk up 3 flights of steps for some of the rooms. The restaurant is popular and if theres an event occuring, you may not be able to get a table at either restaurant.

Loved the location, the coffee maker, water and fridge, and the separate shower and toilet. very clean and quiet!

Housekeeping came into our room even though we had the “do not disturb” sign on which was very alarming. Then they knocked on our door 15 minutes before check out to see if we were almost ready. It was annoying and also we weren’t dressed when they wanted to come into the room, very uncomfortable.

Old style guest house with attendant decor and fantastic staff. Breakfast and all restaurants were outstanding. Tram stop at front exit; 125 meters from back entrance down to tram/trolley node for six different lines. Can go anywhere from these stops. Other restaurants and many stores, including Swiss chocolatiers, lined the streets in all directions. Museums likewise.

Two, maybe three nights of sleep interrupted by noise from teams working on cleaning the streets and on maintenance of the trolley rails. Had we been on the back side of the hotel, it would likely have been very quiet. Although there was a roll-around air conditioning machine that required the exhaust hose be routed out one of the windows and it did cool the apartment, it would have been nice to have one of the more common built-in-the-wall units. Minimal dislikes though. Would not deter us from staying here on our next trip to Basel.
