Our stay at AJWA Sultanahmet was truly exceptional! From the moment we stepped inside, we were captivated by the spacious and stunning interiors, which perfectly reflect the elegance and richness of Turkish culture. Every detail, from the beautifully crafted furniture to the warm ambiance, made us feel like we had stepped into a luxurious Ottoman palace. One of the biggest highlights of our stay was the amazing staff. They were always attentive, kind, and incredibly professional, ensuring that every moment of our visit was perfect. A special thank you to them for making my mother’s birthday unforgettable—not once, but three times they surprised her with a delicious cake and candles, making her feel truly special throughout our stay. Their kindness and attention to detail made all the difference! Another huge plus is the hotel's location—absolutely perfect if you want to explore the best of Istanbul's historic sites. Being in the heart of Sultanahmet, we were just a short walk away from Hagia Sophia, the Blue Mosque, Topkapi Palace, and the Grand Bazaar.

The dishes in the restaurant were not quite to my taste.

The hotel is located in great position not far from the UNESCO sites and lots of restaurants nearby and the hotel shuttle bus was a great advantage as it dropped you off if required. Reception staff and concierge service was very good and we felt well looked after and that people cared about us and wanted to look after us and made us feel very welcome. Breakfast was good and again the staff serving were always cheerful and attentive. They helped us organise trips and an early morning ride to the airport. The room was very clean and well serviced a call to reception sorted out any little queries that we had. Pool area although not large was lovely and a good addition to help relax after a day’s site seeing!

Although adequate the hot food at breakfast time was not always hot. An order for eggs or other items can be made and they were always fresh and hot. A good selection offered and staff were helpful and attentive, in particular Ezra who always greeted us with a warm welcome and a smile!

Location; architecture, furnishings; character; atmosphere; tranquility; care; cleanliness; maintenance; comfort; preparation, availability and courtesy of the staff; times, quality and variety of breakfast are all of an excellent level: I would say real five stars. The offer of extra services is also up to par, even if in our opinion their proposal by the staff is sometimes excessively pushy, which can generate a certain discomfort. We are aware that this is in the style and local character, but from a five-star hotel we expect a little more discretion and tact. In any case, it is a flaw that does not significantly affect the quality and level of hospitality and experience. The offer of the SPA and Hammam is rich and varied, but we did not use them, also due to the division of access for men and women (traditional and widespread in Turkey and clearly highlighted on the website and during the booking phase) and the scarcity and inconvenience of the time slots for private access for couples. We understand and respect local customs without reservations, but for us it was a shame and a limitation, even though we were informed about it. Thank you very much for our charming and pleasant stay in the splendid Gateway to the East.

Our most heartfelt request concerns the restaurant: of reasonable quality but to be improved to align it with that of the Hotel and the city's offerings of the same level.

This is by far the best hotel my wife and I have stayed in so far. we spent over one week there during our first visit to Istanbul and were genuinely impressed by the high quality and the comfort of the rooms. Guests had the free use gym, sauna, steam room and swimming pool. The professional conduct of staff was clearly present . They were always courteous and did not hesitate to offer a helping hand if needed. The buffet breakfast offered was extensive and I would recommend opting for this when making a booking. The sea view from the dining room was a delight.

This is a gorgeous hotel....everything is well-decorated from the exterior to the lobby to the rooms and the top-floor restaurant. It makes you 'feel' as though you've entered a different culture / region (if you're from outside the region). The views from the restaurant were great and the food was excellent. The location in relation to central landmarks is excellent with Hagia Sophia and the Blue Mosque reachable inside 15 minutes. However, the hotel area is very hilly and could be challenging for older or less mobile guests.

The property was ideally located for a tour in the old town. We enjoyed the Turkish flair of the hotel, the breakfast and dinner was delicious snd the staff was friendly and helpful.

Excellent location close to the heart of istanbul and walking distance from all the key sights - we barely had the need to use public transport! Staff are very attentive and welcoming, we stayed for a week and were made to feel like home. Food from the restaurant is super tasty and makes you not want to eat anywhere else. Spa experience was fantastice, facilities 5 star.

As it's situated in a touristy area - expect restaurants near by to be extra expensive and alls selling the same stuff ! you need to do your research and wander off the trodden path to find more reasonably priced food with more variety !

Glorious Ottoman design, clad with copious marble and filled with stunning period furniture pieces. The neighbourhood (Sultanahmet) is a touristic hot spots in walking distance Blue Mosque, Topkapi Palace, Hagia Sophia Grand Mosque and also to the lite tram (tap your phone or card to hop on) connecting out to the ferries, Galatta tower and Dolmabahce palace. Staff are exceptionally attentive, very friendly and courteous - far beyond even the best hotels available. Naturally everyone spoke English as a second language making communication easy. Concierge was available via WhatsApp as well as the usual phone call. Services and facilities are excellent, spotlessly clean and in great condition. Breakfast was fabulous, located in a beautiful dinning room with stunning views of the Bosphorus - attended by a friendly and attentive team. Not a a spec of dust or dirt was found anywhere in this palace. We stayed in the Clock House, a luxury four-storey, three-bedroom house that was equiped with sauna and penthouse. Hotel vehicle and chauffeur were always available to transfer as needed to the main hotel (2 min drive, 5 min stroll) for the restaurant and other facilities, and to transfer us to airport.

The line of toilets selected for the Clock House Apartment featured a bidet that during our stay unfortunately needed some adjustment for optimal operation. Helpful technician was immediately sent to resolve but I think they struggled to really get a perfect outcome due to poor product design. The hotel itself featured a different line of toilets which were excellent and had no issues at all. The neighbourhood (Sultanahmet) is a real touristic hot spot. This is certainly the best hotel in the area by a long shot. But the compromise was it had a slightly shady vibe late at night. We never had an issue - just avoid dark, narrow spaces when walking alone after midnight. Commonsense.

A lovely building with well furnished rooms and classic decor. The rooms are well stocked with everything you need as well as bathrobes and slippers. The lobby is also inviting with authentic looking chairs and concierge staff available for any queries. They also have a lovely restaurant upstairs with a great view of the city and spa facilities downstairs if you fancy some treatments. The location is brilliant and within good walking distance of restaurants and some of Istanbul’s main attractions. The staff are extremely attentive and make you feel very special. The Bell Captain and his team were especially helpful to us and ensured we received the best possible service whilst staying at this lovely hotel. I would definitely recommend this hotel and would absolutely stay there again!!

Not the hotel- but just be wary that everywhere you go , someone is trying to sell you something. Don’t be pushed into buying things you do not want or need.
