This hotel was such a great find. The kindest staff, affordable rates, right on the main street of Galata Tower. I came for work and was able to work in their lovely downstairs sitting room.
My only complaint was that they left the windows open in the sitting room to air out the smoke, so that when you come down to have coffee in the morning the sitting room is freezing. Also, my room was on the main street so if I wanted to leave my window open it would be so loud until early in the morning. That said, the windows are super thick, so if you close the windows it is calm and quiet.

The location of the hotel is great, Galata Tower is only 5 min away, Hagia Sofia is 45 min. The area is full of cafes, small souvenir shops, and restaurants with delicious local food. The staff was really nice and helpful, thanks to Ismael and other managers. The hotel is small and cozy, and the cafe on the first floor is really nice. We had water, fruit and tea inside the room, which was nice.
Our Delux room did not satisfy any of our needs and requests - no sound isolation, tiny bathroom, no fresh air because noises and cigarette smoke were coming from the garden area and we could not open the window, no view at all. The price we paid for this room did not match the comfort level we received, that is why I would recommend this hotel only in case you choose a bigger room with a view or balcony, or pay a very reasonable price.

The hotel is unique and chic, rooms is spacious and view is exceptional. The staff is really friendly and helpful, the receptionist Egnir was truly amazing, he helped us through out the stay with any essentials we needed, provided some good recommendations/tips and finally arranged for our transportation hassle free. The overall is experience is pleasant and worthy.
No elevator in the property as the building in 150 years old, might be difficult for older people.

We have had the best stay at the World House Hotel, no where else has made us feel so welcome or as comfortable, with the entire team, from the front of house staff to back of house staff, providing a very friendly and courteous service. None of our requests seemed to be too much trouble, with everyone pitching in to to provide suggestions and tips on how to make the most of our stay. The hotel felt hip and informal and the rooms were large, trendy and exactly like the pictures on the booking.com website. We made great use of the mini fridge and pleased that there was always plenty of bottled water left for us when we returned at night. The coffee shop, that forms part of the hotel, provided a great selection of tea and coffee as well as delicious cakes, and was a welcome start and end to a day sightseeing. The location of the property is pretty spot on if you want to feel in the center of everything, with so many cafes, restaurants, shops and bars to choose from - regardless of the time of day/night we always felt safe navigating the local area. Its also a great location from which to explore Istanbul, with a Tram Station, Port and Metro at the bottom of the hill and a 150 year old funicular that takes the strain out of walking backup the hill. The streets are cobbled and hilly, so something easy to walk about in is strongly recommended, but easy to walk about on. We booked a private guide through the hotel, Josh, who spoke brilliant English and was able to put a modern perspective on the history of the city, we definitely felt this was worth the money. Overall a big thanks to everyone who made our stay truly memorable, with special thanks to Ant, Erkan, Ismail, Murat, Atacan, Zahide and Zehra for all your smiles and gracious help.
It was perfect!

The staff and management were wonderfully kind and attentive. The location was excellent— an easy walk to Istikal Street and Galata Tower and a short tram ride to the Old City. The area is vibrant and filled with shops and restaurants. And the cafe attached to the hotel has excellent coffee. You do have to walk up hill on cobblestone streets so if mobility is an issue keep that in mind. The hotel itself has a great vibe and decor.
2 things. The Wi-Fi is slow and intermittent and the shower was leaky, spreading water on the bathroom floor. As noted, if you find uphill walking difficult, then staying here would be a challenge.

The hotel is located in the neighborhood of Galata, which is very convenient for reaching trams, buses, and ferry routes. The street the hotel is located on leads to Istiklal Street, a historic venue full of stores, cafes, and restaurants. So, the location was a great plus for us, since we wanted to spend most of our time walking and venturing out to different parts of the city. The room, consisting of two chambers, was spacious and very comfortable. We enjoyed our rest, after the long days of walking, on a small terrace, trying the Turkish baklava or lokum (highly recommended). The desk staff and the manager were very courteous and accommodating. We even got a complimentary bottle of wine (the Turkish wine is quite good, and surpassed our expectations). Overall, the experience in the hotel was very pleasant, and we are planning to go back there next year.

The staff is very nice and friendly. Overall vibe is cool. Location is very cool a few steps from Galata tower itself. A lot of nice coffee places and cafes around. Easily walkable to Galata port which is a very cool district.
We took "Attic with the balcony". Balcony has no view at all, it's literally surrounded by taller concrete buildings as if you're sitting in a concrete well, plus just opposite the balcony there's some sort of a studio doing some master-classes or lessons, always full with people. Shower didn't work properly - was all stuck with calc. If you're taller than ~182, I wouldn't recommend it, ceiling is very low. No coffee machine in the room, there's a French press and a pack with ground coffee which is basically for one person. No regular tee (only a pack with karkade - which is also not clear how to use if the French press is occupied with coffee...). Overall I thought I should have gone for a standard room, not the attic.

Usually I don't leave any reviews but this place really deserves it. From the location, very clean room, nice view to Galata tower to hotel staff and their patience and answering to a thousand and one question. Most important thing you should know is that in this hotel works probably the most wonderful person in Istanbul. Ismail has answers to questions you haven't even asked yet, best advices and recommendations and his kindness is so impressive that, in addition to the Topkapi Palace and the Basilica Cistern, he is definitely what you will remember your stay in Istanbul by. Thank you Ismail and WHB hotel guys for everything!

The hotel was intimate and tastefully decorated in an old renovated townhouse with a small and charming cafe attached. All the staff who worked at the desk were enthusiastically helpful and friendly and went out of their way to make my stay outstanding. They gave me great recommendations and arranged several trips and transfers for me along with sharing their perspective and insights into Turkish culture. The neighborhood was entertaining to explore, buzzing with life, excellent restaurants and all kinds of shops and boutiques.

My husband and I spent two nights in another hotel in Sultanahmet and thought the hospitality there was amazing. It pales in comparison to World House Boutique Hotel. Entering an unassuming doorway, we were not expecting much but immediately Ismail greeted us and gifted us complimentary teas/coffee/lemonade etc. from their cafe, while he checked us in. This really felt like an oasis of calm from the hustle bustle of the street outside, and afterwards Ismail gave us some information about the surrounding areas and also made genuine conversation, which we greatly appreciated. Ismail helped us take our luggage to our third floor room. I was filled with joy to see the snacks/fruit/tea in our room as well as complimentary sodas in the fridge but particularly impressed by the L'Occitane toiletries. There is a mosque (camii) next door and we enjoyed the atmosphere of the dawn azhan (call to prayer) even though it woke us up early. The next morning, we had the pleasure to meet Murat who ordered a chocolate sahlep and turpentine coffee for us to go, whilst sharing important ferry times which helped us catch the ferry to Adalar. After a very tiring day, we returned and the room had been cleaned spotlessly. After a shower we wanted to have a San Sebastian cake downstairs as it's 50% for guests. We called reception, and Ismail informed us that it closes at 22:30 (in one hour) but also to come down as he would like to offer a gift. We were treated to teas and the San Sebastian cake that I wanted! Sometimes in hospitality you can feel that staff are just being nice because it is their job, but Ismail is special because his hospitality transcended that and I felt that he and my husband were having genuine conversation, impressively in Arabic! Finally, as if that was not enough, Ismail offered us a late checkout.
There was nothing I didn't like but here are some suggestions to make things even better :) I would have liked to see a water fountain in communal areas to reduce the waste of bottled water (albeit, slightly better as it was glass). I learned about gazoz whilst in Istanbul and in particular one called Beyoglu (after the area) I think if the boring Coca Cola Company sodas were replaced with these it would be such a nice touch but understand it might not be to everyone's taste. I wish gazoz could go global!
